Define The Chin & Jaw Using Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

One of the first things we notice about the face starting to look older, is the loss of volume, which may happen because of the natural ageing process, or we might notice it when we lose weight, but even those with athletic, slim bodies can experience diminished volume in the face, resulting in hollows and loss of definition.

There are many cosmetic techniques that can restore facial volume to give a youthful, natural appearance. Dermal fillers offer a safe, non-invasive method of replacing volume loss, restoring facial balance, creating symmetry and improving the definition on features such as the chin, eyes, cheeks and jaw line.

Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment for:
* Lip Enhancement - giving the lips more definition
* Lip Augmentation - adding volume, giving the lips a fuller appearance
* Tear Troughs - to add volume and correct the hollows under and around the eyes
* Lip Creases - softening the depth of smokers lines around the mouth
* Nasolabial Folds - correcting the deep grooves at the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth
* Cheek Enhancement - enhancing and contouring the cheeks, to create higher cheekbones
* Jowls Correction - defining the jaw line to create a more defined, attractive line
* Marionette Lines - to lessen the lines that give you a turned down smile
* Nose - straightening out bumps, lifting the tip or improving the nose shape
* Chin - to define and change the contours of your chin

You might have always been quite happy with the shape of your face, but everything on the body changes as we get older and the chin is no exception. You may notice small changes over time; your chin can decrease in size and the jaw line can change shape. Dermal filler can easily be injected into the chin, to make it seem more prominent or increase the definition. Most women want to have a softer contoured chin, while men prefer to have a more masculine chiselled chin.

Dermal fillers for chin augmentation can:
  • Improve the symmetry of the chin
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Give a defined, stronger jaw line to improve the appearance
  • Gently reshape a weak chin
  • Achieve a completely natural looking result
Re-shaping the chin using dermal filler will add definition, balance and symmetry to the chin using long-lasting dermal fillers in a non-surgical treatment. Dermal filler injections will improve an under developed chin, restoring a natural balance to the face.

Define the Chin & Jaw Line with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Loss of definition along the jaw line is usually one of the first signs of ageing that people notice about themselves. Many things can make the jowls start to sag, such as gaining weight, losing weight and genetics, but usually it's the loss of skin tone and the effects of gravity that are most to blame. It might take longer for jowls to become noticeable for those with a fuller face, but if your face is thin, then they may start to show earlier. When we age we lose definition in the jaw, but the good news is that you are now able to correct the sagging jowls and regain a beautifully defined jaw line.

Facial fillers can help to recapture the look of a strong jaw that's beginning to sag, but carefully placed filler injections can create a more prominent desired look for those with a less-defined jaw line, Giving strength to the chin and jaw with dermal fillers can also help to prevent premature ageing of the lower face, as the firmer jaw line can give better support to the weight of the cheek. Filler treatments can provide a non-invasive, non-surgical way to get the strong jaw you want, restoring definition to the chin and jaw line, without any invasive surgery.

Injecting dermal filler into the lower edge of the jaw can:
  • Improve the facial profile
  • Create a more prominent and defined chin
  • Make the face seem younger
  • Restore volume to sagging jowls
  • Create a straighter, firmer jaw line
One glance at somebody's facial profile will instantly show you a weak chin and undefined jaw line. Your profile doesn't matter that much to you when you're looking straight into the mirror, but your profile is there for everyone else to see, when they are looking at your face from different angles. While wrinkles may age you, it's actually the shape of your face that's making you look older but it's very easy to improve these issues by having dermal filler treatment.

Dermal filler can easily be used on the chin, creating a more balanced profile. Fillers can re-sculpt the lower face and restore volume, creating a youthful facial contour. A strong chin adds definition to your face, enhances your appearance and brings a balance to your facial features. If the sagging is mild to moderate, injectable treatments such as dermal filler can easily correct the problem.

Rejuvenate Your Skin With a PDO Thread Lift Treatment - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When we're young and in our prime, the skin on our face is usually smooth and taut but we all grow older, and the worst part of this is seeing the way our face ages. These changes can make us feel self-conscious and many of us would like to turn back time.

It's quite demoralising when we get to an age when our features are no longer as sharp or as defined as they once were. The facial profile suddenly becomes a bit blurry and we notice that our cheekbones are starting to sag down our face, causing the jaw-line to become undefined and the neck starts to look wrinkly.

Collagen is lost over time, making the skin less elastic. This looser skin is gradually pulled downwards, causing the skin around the cheeks to become thinner, and resulting in jowls in the lower face, making us look older. Today's women prefer less invasive and non-invasive treatments that involve less recovery time and less self-care after the treatment.

An ideal cosmetic treatment that will tighten and tone the loose skin, without undergoing an invasive surgical procedure, is a PDO thread lift. This thread lift can deliver what is essentially a face lift, but without the invasive surgery. There are no cuts or incisions, just simple injections which we place in strategic places on the face.

A PDO thread lift will lift loose or sagging skin, improving and rejuvenating the of the structure of the face. PDO threads are inserted into the skin with a very fine needle, either just under the skin, or in the fatty layer just beneath the skin, lifting the tissue and muscle and greatly improving the texture of the skin. It's a minimally invasive treatment achieving tighter, younger looking skin and lasting for up to two years. The threads are absorbable so they don't need removing from the body. Once inserted, they will pull up the jaw-line, lift the cheeks and will reduce the lines around the eyes, nose and mouth, and tighten the neck.

An instant facial lift is often noticeable straight after the treatment, but what's even better, is that the effects will continue to improve for days and weeks afterwards. The PDO threads produce collagen around the threads and the new collagen that's produced, lifts the skin and creates more volume.

PDO threads get inserted all over the face and combine beautifully with dermal fillers to reveal a new, rejuvenated you. Thread lifts are an extremely versatile treatment, they're very simple, safe and almost painless. It's a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure that leaves you with a natural, rejuvenated look.

Lose Double Chin & Define Your Jaw Line with Vaser Lipo - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

If you have a double chin it doesn't always mean you're are overweight, it can also mean that the muscles in the chin and neck aren't as developed as they could be. When we get older, our skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag, making it possible for a double chin to develop. Sometimes we don't realise that our jaw line is slowly merging with the chin until someone shows us photos taken in profile, giving us the proof we really didn't want to see.

Loose skin on the jaw line and neck, can result in a double chin or the dreaded jowls. This can cause embarrassment and loss of confidence and might be a sign that you should alter your diet. It is possible to reduce and even get rid of fat in the chin area with a healthy, low-fat, nutritious diet and regular exercise, but if this doesn't work, cosmetic treatment using vaser lipo could be the answer.

There are people who are genetically predisposed to having a double chin. Our genetics influence the muscle and bone structure and where the fat is deposited on the face. Some get water retention under the chin, and others naturally store excess fat in the chin area. Excess body fat is also a cause of double chins as the body stores fat in different places. It's almost impossible to lose fat from just one place, so if you need to lose fat from your chin, you must lose fat from all over the body. Our age can also determine whether we do or don't develop a double chin, because the older we get, the more our skin thins and becomes less elastic, and this causes muscles to lose their tone, which creates the sagging droopy look.

If diet and exercise just won't get rid of it, then vaser lipo is an ideal way to get rid of fat from under the chin. It's a straightforward procedure that gives fabulous results. After a local anaesthetic numbs the area, the vaser melts and liquefies the fat cells, which then get suctioned out through thin probes. Vaser lipo is not a method to lose weight or an alternative to diet and exercise but a form of body contouring, which sculpts the body to get the desired look.

Just because you have a double chin doesn't necessarily mean you're old and it doesn't have to mean that you're overweight. But, whatever the cause is, while it's there, it can totally take away the beauty of a face.

Vaser Away Chin Fat For a Better Facial Profile - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Usually, the only problem we might have with our chin is the occasional spot, but sometimes we have to face facts, and admit that somewhere along the way we have acquired a double chin. There are times when you're having a great time on holiday, at a party or out with friends and the cameras are clicking, but when you actually see the photographs you find yourself shocked at the lack of definition of your neck and chin.

Defining the jaw-line is one of the best ways to stay looking youthful. A well-defined jaw does more than just enhance our profile, it also takes years off the face, which can only be a good thing. As we get older our skin will lose elasticity, the muscles will lose tone and stretch, and the fatty tissues in the face will lose volume. All these changes can cause the skin to sag, and it will become most noticeable in the chin, jowl and neck area, as it's the fatty deposits under the chin that can give a 'double chin' effect.

Vaser lipo treatment is one of the gentlest and most powerful form of liposuction available today and it can quickly rectify the problems we have with our jaw-lines and chins. One of the biggest benefits of having vaser lipo on the chin and neck area is the massive improvement to your profile. As well as reducing fat cells, the unique selling point of vaser lipo over other procedures, is that the ultrasound energy achieves a degree of skin tightening, which is particularly effective in this area.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we use local anaesthetic during the vaser procedure, making it almost painless. Vaser lipo breaks up fat with ultrasound energy. The vaser probes that deliver the energy are very thin, solid and have grooves. Heating up the connective tissues means they tighten up and collagen production is also stimulated, so over time there will be a continuing improvement. Vaser ultrasound energy only dissolves the fat cells and simply bounces off other structures such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue, which are left undisturbed, giving great results.

The vaser lipo procedure takes less than an hour and although results are noticeable straight away, they will improve with time. It's a simple procedure and usually the client is in and out of the clinic within hours. Vaser also gives you 33% skin tightening, so you will end up with a tighter, more defined look, making you look years younger.

Botox Treatment to Soften a Square Jaw-Line - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

While a square jaw-line is an entirely acceptable look for a woman, many of them would prefer a softer, more feminine shape to their face. The female jaw is thinner than the male jaw and has slightly rounded corners, and while it is square, it's not blunt.

A few key characteristics that distinguish a male jaw from a female one:
  • Men tend to have a longer chin than women.
  • The angle of a man's jaw is sharp, making it look square, where a square jaw on a woman still has a curve.
  • On a man's face, the chin is flat at the base, but pointed on a woman.
  • A male jaw looks wider, heavier, and thicker than a female jaw.

A typical female jaw will curve gently from the ear down to the chin, and although this shape is often associated as being the most feminine and the most common, there are other shapes. There are lots of women who our society considers attractive, who have a more angular, masculine jaw-line. Some say that women with square jaw-lines have slightly higher testosterone levels than average, but in many women it's simply an ethnic feature.

Masseter muscles in the jaw are responsible for jaw motion, and as with any muscle, the jaw muscles increase in size with exercise. If a strong, square jaw-line becomes too pronounced, it can make the face seem masculine and in turn cause self-consciousness. Actions, such as repeated chewing gum, clenching or grinding the teeth while asleep, can cause the muscle to increase, creating a visibly square appearance in the face.

Botox injections carry fewer risks than surgical treatments and can also help those who suffer with teeth grinding during the night. Botox can help change the shape of your face by relaxing the masseter muscle and in recent years they have become a popular treatment for people who suffer from thickening of the jaw muscles. After botox treatment the improvement occurs naturally, with the greatest improvement being noticed between three to nine months after the injections.

Botox can also subtly contour the sharp angles of a square jaw-line, as when botox is precisely injected into the masseter muscles of the jaw to weaken it, causing the size of the muscle to reduce. Women with a squared jaw think it makes their face look a lot bigger, but as the muscle decreases in size a more oval face shape develops. However, getting botox to curve their square jaw is becoming popular among women, for a softer, more feminine look.

Botox & Filler for a Liquid Face Lift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Unfortunately we'll all get older, and when we do we'll notice our face developing fine lines and wrinkles. Sagging facial skin will make us look tired, and if we lose volume in our face we'll also start to look gaunt. Many people think that invasive face lift surgery is the solution to correct these effects of facial ageing, however there's another option. Instead of going under the knife for a surgical procedure, many people find they'll get fantastic results from a non-surgical procedure such as the liquid face lift.

A liquid face lift is a cosmetic procedure where a combination of injected botox and fillers freshen the face by softening lines and wrinkles and adding volume to the face. When it's strategically placed, botox can give you an eye lift and the dermal filler, when injected into sunken, hollow cheeks will add volume to the face.

Those who can benefit are:
  • Clients who aren't quite ready, or who are reluctant to have invasive surgery.
  • Those who have slight sagging of the jowls.
  • Clients who have lost volume in the cheeks.
  • People who have lost volume under the eyes.
Botox and filler can also be injected into the temples, lower eyelids, cheeks and jaw-line to create more youthful facial contours. Using local anaesthetic on the face, means any pain is minimal and unlike a surgical face lift, clients can go back to work the following day.

A liquid face lift treatment would benefit those who want to rejuvenate and refresh their face, making it appear more youthful. It's ideal for those who have lost volume to the face, especially in the cheek and mouth areas. With precision placement of the dermal filler to give tissue support and volume to areas which have sagged, along with strategic injections of botox to erase the fine lines, realistic goals of a refreshed younger looking face are achievable.

Benefits of a non-surgical procedure:
  • It's non-invasive, no stitches or cuts and no bleeding
  • Fast treatment time - 20 - 30 minutes
  • Quick recovery - minor swelling for a few days
  • It's affordable
  • Back to work - next day
  • Duration of results - up to 12 months
  • Anaesthetic - local
  • Results seen - immediate dramatic results
Having a liquid face lift is a minimal, swift procedure which can take five to seven years off of your facial appearance. It's possible to arrive and leave within an hour, having had a face lift without the need of a scalpel.

Before & After Photo's - Lose Your Double Chin With Vaser Lipo - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Having a photo taken in profile can really show off an unwanted double chin. Sometimes we see a photograph that's been taken from the side and we're shocked at the lack of definition of our jaw line and chin. Having a double chin doesn't necessarily mean you are overweight, it can also mean that the muscles in the chin and neck aren't as developed as they could be, and as we get older our skin can lose its elasticity, the muscles can lose tone and stretch and our face loses volume. These changes cause sagging to the skin, which is very noticeable in the chin, jowl and neck area.

Three things can cause a double chin;
* Age - Our age can determine whether we develop a double chin. The older we get, the more our skin becomes thin, less elastic and the muscles lose their tone, creating a sagging droopy look.
* Genetics - We might be genetically predisposed to having a double chin. Our genetics can influence the muscle, bone structure and fat deposit characteristics of our face. Some of us naturally retain too much water in the chin area, while others store excess fat.
* Fat - Having excess body fat is also a cause. Our body stores fat in different places on the body and it's almost impossible to lose fat from just one specific place, so if we need to lose fat from a double chin, we must lose fat from all over.

If there’s anything that makes us look older than we are, it’s the looser skin on the jaw line and neck which will result in a double chin or the dreaded jowls. Getting a double chin can cause embarrassment and might be a sign that you should change your eating habits. It's possible to reduce fat in the chin area with a healthy, low-fat diet and regular exercise or maybe if all else fails, cosmetic treatment could be the answer.

Vaser lipo treatment is one of the gentlest and most powerful form of liposuction available today. As well as removing fat, the ultrasound energy achieves a degree of skin tightening which is particularly effective in the chin area. The vaser probes that deliver the energy are ultra thin, solid and have grooves and when they're inserted into the skin through tiny incisions, the energy will break up the fat. The fat cells become liquefied and then are gently removed. During the vaser lipo treatment collagen production is also stimulated, so over time there will be a continuing improvement.

Define Your Profile & Rejuvenate Your Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Getting older will happen to us all, and the worst part is looking in the mirror and noticing the way our face is changing. We might see our face beginning to sag, bags appear under the eyes, we might notice the start of jowls and the lack of definition at the jaw line. Sometimes it's almost enough to make us avoid looking in the mirror because we're so self-conscious of our faults.

There comes a time when we reach a certain age, and we start to notice our facial profile has suddenly become a little blurry. The strong definition of our features aren't as sharp as they were, and we lose volume in various areas of our face; under the eyes will become hollow, the fat pads in our cheekbones will diminish making the face look gaunt, we can develop nose to mouth lines giving us jowls, and the skin's elasticity loosens leading to wrinkles and sagging skin.

There are some treatment options that we can have to rectify this;

Face lift - we can have a full cosmetic face lift. This however is a painful and costly experience which needs good deal of down time. These days lots women, and men, prefer non-invasive procedures that need less recovery time and less self-care after the treatment.

Dermal Fillers - these can add volume to fill in hollows under the eyes, give the skin a gentle lift, creating higher cheekbones or injected along the jaw line to give definition. Injectable treatments have always been a good option for those not wanting a surgical procedure. Dermal fillers give great results and you can return to work the next day with no-one knowing you've had any treatment, they will just be curious to know how you look so fresh and rejuvenated.

PDO threads lifts- at Selston Cosmetic Clinic we've performed PDO thread lift treatment for a few years now and they can make a massive difference. We can use PDO's as a stand alone treatment or use it together with botox and dermal fillers to get a fantastic result.

The PDO threads we use for this treatment are the same ones used in open heart surgery and over the months they will gradually dissolve. All the time the threads remain under the skin, they cause collagen to form by stimulating the fibroblasts, and this also improves skin tone and radiance. Before treatment, local anaesthetic is given which dramatically reduces any discomfort from the injections. We place the threads under the skin, and they lift and tighten the skin by promoting collagen and elastin and smooth the skin by promoting hyalauronic acid, which improves skin hydration. The procedure takes less than an hour and the results last between 12-18 months. PDO thread lifts are essentially a face lift without the surgery. There are no incisions or cuts, just simple injections placed in strategic places.

Areas suitable for PDO threads;
  • Horizontal and vertical forehead wrinkles
  • Sagging eyebrows
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Cheeks
  • Naso-labial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Jaw line
  • Creased cheeks

The procedure is almost painless with only a small amount of downtime. You might experience the odd bruise, but these are easily covered with light make-up. If you want to redefine your face, but you don’t want invasive surgery, then PDO thread lift treatment is an ideal solution.

Lose the Fat From Under Your Double Chin with Vaser Lipo - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

As we age our face can go through many changes; wrinkles, the skin losing elasticity and beginning to droop and unwanted fat settling under the chin, giving us a double chin or undefined jaw line. Excess fat under the chin is very ageing, it can make our face look a lot older than it really is, and can leave us feeling very self-conscious.

Sometimes there are those who have slim bodies but look heavy under the chin because of a weak jaw line. Double chins don't always mean you're overweight, and those with a slender body shape can get a double chin just like anyone else. Sometimes it can happen because of the lack of muscle tone, but in most cases, the reason is weight gain.

There are several reasons why we form a double chin:
  • Ageing - As we age, we start to lose muscle tone and lose elasticity in the skin, causing the chin to become slack.
  • Bad eating habits - When we eat food that's high in calories and have meals containing processed foods and unhealthful fats, we might find it influences weight gain and this weight can settle beneath the chin.
  • Lack of exercise - We develop a double chin mainly because of excess weight, and we can get a double chin by not doing any exercise.
  • Posture - Poor posture can cause the neck and chin muscles to become weak. Prolonged periods of looking downwards at your phone or computer can cause a double chin over time, as when muscles aren't used they become slack and cause the surrounding skin to lose its elasticity.
  • Genetics - We inherit lots of things from our parents; hair colour, being short or tall or the size of our nose, but we might also inherit the potential for a double chin. A quick look at our family will tell us if we're destined to get a double chin or not.

When we aren't as active as we could be, we tend to slowly put on weight and this weight can settle under the chin, and excess weight anywhere on the face can change the contour, altering your profile and your appearance. When we want to lose weight, it isn't possible to spot reduce just the chin, so you'll need to lose weight everywhere, to try to lose the double chin but there's always the chance that your double chin will stay.

Just because we have a double chin, doesn't mean we have to keep it! There are safe procedures to reduce the fat under the chin that can remove several grams of fat and can dramatically change our face. Vaser Lipo is a minimally invasive treatment that can get rid of chin fat, refine your jaw line and improve your side profile.

A double chin can distract from even the most attractive face. A well contoured chin can define the shape of your face and give you a great profile.

Rejuvenate the Face With a Non-Surgical Liquid Facelift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

There aren't many of us that would go under the knife to enhance our beauty, and this makes the non-surgical liquid facelift treatment an ideal alternative. The liquid is an injectable filler which restores lost volume in the face and corrects facial symmetry, used along with botox, which reduces lines and wrinkles, relaxing the facial muscles and reducing crows feet and lines around the eyes. The combination of both will result in refreshing and rejuvenating the face.

As we age we mainly lose volume around the temples, cheekbones and under the eyes, as the tissues beneath the skin become weak and the fat pads slide downwards and start to sag. This sagging will cause gaunt cheeks, nasolabial folds and marionette lines to appear. Fat pads slide down and settle along the jaw line, creating jowls, but by precisely restoring the lost volume in these areas and balancing uneven lines and contours, will preserve our natural appearance. A liquid facelift doesn't need surgery, as treatment will restore lost volume and this will improve the skin's look and shape of the face and fill in the fine lines and wrinkles.

This treatment is ideal for the following concerns:
  • Skin that's sagging or drooping
  • Dark under eye area
  • Hollows under the eyes
  • Lost volume in the cheeks
  • Jowls forming along the jaw line

The liquid facelift combines botox and fillers, which get injected using specialised treatment techniques, and this results in restoring lost volume in the face to give a lifting effect. The strategic use of botox will erase the fine lines and wrinkles, and allows your natural contours to come back, resulting in a refreshed younger looking face.

The treatment will correct facial symmetry and lift the facial features in a subtle way, from the forehead down to the jaw. The dermal filler will lift the brow, opening up the eye area and fill in the troughs beneath the eyes, whilst replenishing lost volume in the cheeks and lifting the cheekbones. The mouth also gets a lift at the corners and the lips can easily be enhanced by adding volume, and correcting the jowls will define the jaw line and lift the neck.

By undergoing a non-surgical liquid facelift, you can truly lift the entire face, eliminate wrinkles and achieve a refreshed and more youthful facial appearance, with minimal down time and immediate results.

The liquid facelift will give a gentle lift of various facial features, it will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, creases and folds and restore our natural facial contours, giving us a rested and rejuvenated look.

Define & Contour the Jaw Line with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Time takes its toll on our face as we get older, and as it goes through so much, it's understandable that sometimes it might need a bit of TLC. As well as changes to the texture of the skin, such as dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, the face also changes shape as we age. Loss of fat in the upper face, plus the effects of gravity can cause the skin to droop downwards, and this can lead to jowls, causing a loss of definition in the jaw line.

The jaw is what separates our face from our neck, but over time we lose definition in the jaw line which blurs the distinction between the two areas. Dermal fillers are able to correct and get back a beautifully defined jaw. A square jaw can look good on some men, who see it as the typically masculine face shape, but jaw line contouring is also ideal for women who have a square shape to the jaw, and want to get a softer, more feminine look.

Over time, the jaw line begins to sag as we lose volume from the face, which causes it to droop and fall forward. The sag can become quite significant, causing a previously straight jaw to change into a wavy one.

Dermal fillers can correct a sagging jaw and help to recover the straight jaw line of our youth. Dermal fillers can easily be injected into the jowl area to disguise the jowls by blending them into the adjacent areas, hiding the jowls and giving the jaw a straighter line.

Dermal filler is a highly successful treatment which gets impressive results. Fillers get injected along the jaw line using a tiny cannula or a small fine needle into the jowl area and this makes the jaw line look straighter. As a result, the male jaw line becomes wider and straighter and more masculine and has a more defined angle at the base of the jaw, while the female jaw line still has a more feminine gentle curve and softness to the contour of the jaw.

A jaw enhancement will benefit:
  • Those with a weak jaw line
  • Men who want a more chiselled jaw
  • Those who can see signs of ageing in the jaw line
  • Those who want a softer jaw line

Enhancing and contouring the jaw using dermal filler injections can effectively alter the outline of the jaw area  This treatment is popular, due to its instant results, natural feel and the easy ability of the injections and the little to no downtime.

Refresh Your Face With Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

It's inevitable that as we get older, the more we will notice fine lines and wrinkles starting to appear on our face, starting with crows feet at the eye area and gradually spreading to the rest of the face. Botox is a safe, simple and gentle treatment which can treat lots of areas, depending on the way your facial expression muscles work. A fully trained, experienced practitioner should always carry out these treatments, as the face is a delicate area to work on.
Botox brow lift before and after
Areas affected by expressive and static lines:
  • Frown lines - we might find that over time, deep lines between the eyebrows and above the nose become quite prominent. Frown lines can appear as two deep furrows that sit between the eyebrows and they are sometimes called the number 11's. To stop you overworking this area, botox injections can relax the muscle, which will also help to reduce the static groove.
  • Forehead - we tend to get both expressive and static lines forming horizontally across our forehead. These wrinkles can dramatically age your appearance, but the use of botox will relax the lines, and stop the area from over-expressing.
  • Eyes - crows feet at the corner of the eyes are a big concern for lots of people. The eyes are one of the most obvious areas for showing age, and with it being a delicate area you should always choose an experienced, highly skilled practitioner to treat them. The eyes are one of the most commonly requested areas for botox treatment.
  • Bunny Lines - these are the straight, slightly diagonal lines on both sides of the nose, under the bridge, that appear when we smile or laugh. They become obvious when we scrunch up our nose when laughing, or through the natural process of ageing.
  • Brow - we have muscles in the face that pull down the eyebrows and muscles that lift up the eyebrows. Injecting botox into the muscles that pull downwards is an ideal way to lift the brow area as it relaxes the muscles that we use to frown, and this lifts the weight that we naturally want to push down.
  • Jaw line - botox can relax and shrink the enlarged masseter muscle on the jaw line near the ear. Botox injections can streamline the area, giving a smooth, heart-shaped jaw line, softening the contour of your lower facial area.
Botox on crows feet before and after

The botox itself stays where it's injected, it doesn’t travel anywhere else in the body, and it gradually wears off naturally, after 3-6 months. The key to successful botox is subtlety; enhancing your face with careful and well thought out treatment, striving to give your face a refreshed, rejuvenated appearance, and avoiding a frozen or startled look.

Combat Facial Ageing With Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

A youthful face has smooth skin, the ability to reflect light and has fullness in the upper areas, but over time, years of sun exposure, pollution and everyday stress will affect our appearance. The body produces less of the natural substances that's needed to keep our skin firm and well hydrated, which all cause facial lines and wrinkles to appear.

Dermal filler used on the nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)

We use dermal fillers to fill depressions on the face, hands and body. Injectable fillers are the perfect way to enhance your facial features ,because they can help to fill shallow contours, plump up thin lips, soften folds and wrinkles on the face and improve scars and other facial defects.

The ageing process begins when we are about 25 and over the next decade:
  • Skin cell turnover slows down and dead cells remain on the skin creating a dull appearance
  • Early wrinkles can begin to appear around the eyes
  • The lines from the nose to mouth become more prominent
  • The jaw line begins to soften
From age 35 to 45
  • Lines and wrinkles will deepen, and frown lines can give your face an angry look
  • Your skin type may change, from oily to dry or vice versa
  • Pigmentation changes on your skin
From age 45 onwards
  • In menopause, oestrogen levels decrease, causing collagen to deplete
  • Volume loss
  • Skin can become dry and dehydrated
  • Pigmentation will become more visible
  • The face begins to drop
  • The jaw area loses definition
Dermal filler used on the tear troughs (under eye hollows)

Wrinkles and creases on the face are part of the ageing process and they begin to appear as the collagen and elastin fibres break down, but they can also result from excessive frowning, smiling or squinting.

Dynamic lines are when lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing occur on the face when it's in motion. They're also called expression lines; laughter lines, frown lines and bunny lines, which are harmless at a younger age but will often contribute to where the deeper set folds and wrinkles will remain in later life.

Static lines are noticable wrinkles, lines, sagging and folds which are present on the resting face; sagging jaw line, nasal folds, sunken cheeks and horizontal forehead lines. These lines, if left untreated, will stay on the face and will progressively worsen.

Dermal Fillers are a temporary solution, as the hyaluronic acid in the fillers is naturally degradable, and is naturally broken down and eventually absorbed by the body. Fillers are effective at restoring hydration to the skin, smoothing lines and wrinkles and can also restore and enhance the facial shape. The fillers last around 9 to 12 months, although this may vary from person to person, depending on their lifestyle and which part of the face gets injected.

Definition of The Chin & Jaw Line Using Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The loss of definition in the jaw line is usually one of the first signs of ageing that people notice. Gaining weight, losing weight and genetics, can all make the jowls begin to sag, but often, it’s the loss of skin tone and the effects of gravity that are most to blame. It might take longer for jowls to become noticeable if you have a fuller face, but if your face is thin, they may start to show earlier. With age we lose definition in our jaw, but the good news is that you may be able to correct the sagging jowls and regain a beautifully defined jaw line.

A profile doesn't matter that much to you when you're looking straight into the mirror, but your profile is there for everyone else to see, when they look at your face from different angles. While wrinkles may age you, it's actually the shape of your face that's making you look older but it's easy to improve these issues by injecting dermal filler.

Injecting dermal filler into the contour of the lower edge of the jaw can:
  • Improve the profile
  • Create a more prominent and defined chin
  • Make the face appear younger
  • Restore volume to sagging jowls
  • Create a straighter, firmer jaw line
Facial fillers can help to create the look of a strong jaw, and for those with a weak jaw line, carefully placed filler injections can create a desired look. Filler treatments can provide a non-invasive, non-surgical way to get the jaw line you want, restoring definition to the chin and jaw line, without invasive surgery.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we apply a topical anaesthetic cream 30 to 60 minutes before filler treatment. In order to make the treatment as painless as possible a local anaesthetic is added to the filler, and our clients usually report that the procedure was relatively comfortable. The filler treatment takes around 15 minutes.

Dermal Filler can easily be used on the chin, stiffening the skin and defining the chin and jowl area and lessening the weakness of the chin. The filler can lengthen and enhance the lower facial appearance, creating a more balanced profile. Fillers are used to re-sculpt the lower face and restore volume, creating a youthful facial contour.

A strong chin adds definition to your face, enhances your appearance and brings a balance to your facial features. If the sagging is mild to moderate, injectable treatments such as dermal filler can easily correct this problem.

Smoother Tighter Face with PDO Thread Lifts - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When we're young and in our prime, the skin on our face is usually smooth and taut. The jaw-line has a strong definition, and the contour where the cheek meets the chin is smooth. It's quite devastating to get to that age when your features are no longer as sharp or defined as they once were. The facial profile suddenly becomes a bit blurry and we notice that our cheekbones start to sag down our face causing the jaw-line to become saggy and the neck beginning  to look wrinkly.

During the procedure
As our skin ages, some of the collagen is lost, making the skin less elastic. The loose skin is gradually pulled downwards, causing the skin around the cheeks to become thinner, and resulting in jowls in the lower face, making us look older. One way to tighten and tone the loose skin without undergoing an invasive surgical procedure is a PDO thread lift. PDO thread lifts can deliver what is essentially a facelift, without the surgery. There are no incisions or cuts, just simple injections placed in strategic places.

The PDO thread lift will improve and rejuvenate the face's structure, lifting loose or sagging skin. PDO threads are simply inserted into the skin with a very fine needle, either just under the skin, or in the fatty layer just beneath the skin, lifting the tissue and muscle and improving the texture of the skin. Once they're inserted, they will pull up the jaw-line, lift the cheeks and will reduce the lines around the eyes, nose and mouth, and tighten the neck.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we regularly perform PDO thread lifts with great results. We can insert threads all over the face and they will combine beautifully with dermal filler to reveal a rejuvenated new you! Thread lifts are an extremely versatile procedure, they're very simple, safe and almost painless. It's a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure that leaves you with a natural, rejuvenated look.

PDO Thread Lift before and after

After a thread lift, an instant lift is often noticeable but what's even better, is that the effects will continue to improve for days and weeks afterwards. The PDO threads produce collagen around the threads and the new collagen that's produced, lifts the skin.

It's a minimally invasive treatment achieving tighter, younger looking skin, lasting for up to two years. The threads are absorbable so they don't need removing from the body. You will see an immediate visible lifting effect and a natural improvement in the skin.

PDO Thread Lift Treatment for a Younger Looking Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We all want to stave off the ageing process. When we are young, the skin on our face is nice and tight, with the cheek and chin meeting in a smooth contour and definition at the jaw-line. But when we start to age, collagen is lost, making the skin less elastic, and gravity will start to pull the loose skin downwards, creating jowls in the lower face and causing the skin around the cheeks to become thinner, making us look older.

Ageing causes the skin tissue to become thinner because the fibres in the collagen and elastin break down, which results in sagging skin, deep creases, folds and wrinkles. If you look in the mirror and wish for a sharp defined jaw-line, but you aren't ready for a surgical facelift, then a PDO thread lift is the solution. A PDO thread lift is a non-surgical alternative to a facelift and is often called the lunch hour lift, because it can be performed within 60 minutes or less. The procedure actually changes the shape of your face, restoring a youthful look in the same way as a surgical facelift.

The thread lift improves and rejuvenates the structure of the face. They are great for loose or sagging skin, and PDO threads need no cuts or incisions, they are simply inserted into the skin with a very fine needle to lift tissue and muscle and improve skin texture. Depending on the area being treated, the threads are inserted either just under the skin, or into the fatty layer just beneath the skin.

The PDO threads have a dual effect, first to give an immediate lift, secondly to stimulate the body's own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid and they are absorbable so they don't need to be removed from the body. The thread is the same as what's used in open heart surgery and will dissolve at around 6 months. By this time the collagen will have been rebuilt and the effects will last up to two years. Results are visible straight away but continue to improve as collagen is promoted.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we regularly perform PDO thread lifts with great results. The threads can be used all over the face and will combine beautifully with Dermal Filler to give a rejuvenated new you! Just recently this lovely woman had a thread lift at our clinic (see photo below)

Before treatment     -   and then 5 days later

An instant lift is often noticeable but what's even better, is that the effects will continue to improve for days and weeks afterwards.

The procedure is suitable for most people from age 25 onwards, when the effects of ageing starts to become apparent. PDO thread lifts reverse the effects of ageing and vastly improve quality of the skin. Sagging jowls, eye bags, drooping upper eyebrows and the jaw-line are all area's suitable for this procedure.

Thread lifts are extremely versatile and the procedure is very simple, safe and almost painless. It's a minimally invasive non-surgical procedure lift that gives a natural, rejuvenated look.

Botox Treatment for Square Jaw Reduction - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

It's considered by most people throughout the world that having a square lower jaw is a masculine trait. Men naturally have a strong chin and a strong, square jaw line is distinctly masculine, but many women would prefer a softer, more feminine shape to their face. And while a square jaw line is an entirely acceptable look for a woman, the female jaw is thinner than the male jaw and has slightly rounded corners and the angles, while it is square, it's not blunt.

A few key characteristics that distinguish a male jaw from a female one:
  • Men tend to have longer chins.
  • The angles of a man’s jaw are sharp, making it look square, where a square jaw on a woman still has a curve.
  • On a man’s face the chin is flat at the base but pointed on a woman.
  • A male jaw looks wider, heavier, and thicker than a female jaw.
A typical female jaw curves gently, extending from the ear down to the chin, and although this shape is often associated as being the most feminine or the most common, many women who our society considers attractive, have a more angular, masculine jaw line. By changing the shape of the face from square to a more ladylike round or oval shape.

It's been said that some women with a square jaw have slightly higher testosterone levels than average, but in many women it's simply an ethnic feature. But, a square jaw line is not necessarily just a man's facial feature as some of the most beautiful women in the world, Angelina Jolie, Selma Hayek and Keira Knightley have square jaws.

Angelina Jolie has a strong square jaw line.
Kiera Knightley has a square shaped face.

If a strong, square jaw line becomes too pronounced, it can make the face appear masculine and in turn cause self-consciousness. Masseter muscles in the jaw are responsible for jaw motion, and as with any muscle, the jaw muscles increase in size with exercise, and actions such as repeated gum chewing, teeth clenching or grinding the teeth in your sleep, can cause the muscle to increase, which can create a visibly square appearance in the face.

One solution for square jaw reduction is botox treatment which is an effective treatment for people with over-developed jaw muscles. At the Selston Cosmetic Clinic an advanced botox technique is used to correct a square jaw. The botox is precisely injected into the masseter muscles of the jaw to weaken it. When it weakens, the size of the muscle will reduce and as the masseter muscle decreases in size post injection, an oval face develops.

Women with a squared jaw seem to have issues with their appearance as it makes their face look a lot bigger. However, getting botox to curve their square jaw is becoming popular among women, for greater, softer look.
