We all want to stave off the ageing process. When we are young, the skin on our face is nice and tight, with the cheek and chin meeting in a smooth contour and definition at the jaw-line. But when we start to age, collagen is lost, making the skin less elastic, and gravity will start to pull the loose skin downwards, creating jowls in the lower face and causing the skin around the cheeks to become thinner, making us look older.
Ageing causes the skin tissue to become thinner because the fibres in the collagen and elastin break down, which results in sagging skin, deep creases, folds and wrinkles.
