Laser Hair Removal for Men's Body Hair - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Body hair removal was in days gone by, a strictly a female thing. These days, more and more men are opting for the same grooming rituals as women and although most men don't necessarily want all of their body hair removed, they do want it thinned out, mainly on their back and chest. Hairy backs, chests, legs and bellies are a turn-off for a lot of women and so more than ever, men are succumbing to the pressure to remove body hair.

These are some of the most popular hair removal treatments for men:

Waxing
The main advantage of waxing away unwanted hair is that the results do last for a while. Heated wax is spread over the required area with a spatula, then a strip removes the wax, along with the hair. The hair is removed at the root which means you’ll be hair-free for up to six weeks, and because it's removed at the root, it will grow back with fine, rather than blunt hair.

Electrolysis
Although electrolysis can permanently remove hair, it's a slow and painful hair removal treatment, which can sometimes result in scarring. A small electric current is applied with a fine needle-shaped electrode, or metal probe into each hair follicle and this destroys the root. Minor discomfort might be experienced and more than one treatment is required for it to be most effective. With electrolysis, each hair follicle is treated individually, making it a time-consuming and painful process.

Shaving
Shaving is probably the easiest method of hair removal. With just a razor and shaving cream you can get rid of hair from any part of the body, and it's easy and painless as long as you don’t nick yourself with the razor. But as the hair grows back, unfortunately this makes shaving with a razor only a temporary solution.

Depilatories/Cream Hair Removers
Depilatory creams contain chemicals that react safely with the unwanted hair on the body. They break down the proteins in the hair, causing it to weaken and dissolve. The hair is left in a jelly like state, and is wiped away with the cream.

Laser
The laser beam passes through the skin to the hair follicles. The intense heat of the laser damages the hair follicle, without harming the surrounding skin, and stops future hair growth. With male hair removal becoming increasingly popular, laser hair removal is an ideal treatment for those wanting a smooth chest or hair-free back and almost anywhere on the body can be treated, including ears, sideburns or nipples.

Selston Cosmetic Clinic uses the most advanced Laser Technology to offer a safe and effective way to reduce unwanted body and facial hair. Long lasting results can now be obtained with Laser hair removal, and both small and large areas can be treated quickly and effectively, compared to other methods. After treatment, hair follicles might seem to grow for one to two weeks. Typically these are lifeless hairs and they will fall out quite easily.

Depending on the area, treatments can take from 10 minutes and up to 45 minutes for the back. Only 30% of  hair is usually in the growth phase at any one time and the laser can only target these hairs. Therefore a series of treatments are required to achieve long-term results, generally around 6 treatments are required spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and this usually results in 80% of hair removal. Some clients might experience a slight redness in the treated area, but his should resolve in a day or two and you are requested to avoid sun exposure and use daily sunscreen following any laser treatment.
