Anti-Ageing Skin Treatments At Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We put our skin through a lot over the years, but there are many ways to get our skin looking its best again with a choice of cosmetic skin treatments. We have lots of concerns about our skin's condition, and stress, worry, sun damage and even genetics, all play their part in how we'll look as we grow older.

We're all different and we'll all age in different ways. Some of us, if we are lucky, will grow old and retain firm, clear skin with a minimal of wrinkles, however, many of us won't. There are treatments available that will remove damaged layers of skin, leaving your skin looking younger, fresher and healthier. Whether your facial problem is sun damage, loss of elasticity, sagging, thread veins, dehydration, acne scars or just general ageing, there is a solution waiting for you.

The skin's outer layers begin to show wear and tear:
  • Ageing, in the form of wrinkles and fine lines
  • Dull, dehydrated skin
  • Thinner skin
  • Loss of elasticity
  • Acne scars
  • Liver and sun spots
  • Dry skin
  • Sun damage
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Age spots & freckles
  • Spider and thread veins
  • Redness; rosacea
  • Texture problems
Before & After Microdermabrasion
We all know that as we start ageing things can start to go steadily downhill, and this means that our skin will eventually start to show its age with fine lines and wrinkles beginning to appear. The skin can become dull and our skin might lose elasticity as our bodies no longer makes collagen at the same levels it used to. Luckily, these days we can actually do a lot to repair the outer damage and get  back a healthy looking complexion.

We all have to deal with the changes that come with ageing, and the truth is that whether we like it or not, as time goes by our skin will look different. We would all like to have smooth, clear and even skin and thankfully there are different treatments that we can use to treat the skin, helping to keep its natural beauty, whether it's dull or damaged skin, wrinkles, freckles or pigmentation, there's a treatment available to help restore a more youthful, clear complexion.

Before & After Profhilo treatment

Cosmetic clinics have a number of treatments to repair the damaged outer layers of the skin:
  • Profhilo
  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Chemical peels
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Micro-needling
  • Radio frequency skin tightening
Skin resurfacing treatments work by removing the damaged outer layers, and revealing healthier, smoother skin in its place. Profhilo involves injections of hyaluronic acid to improve skin quality and elasticity. Lots of the treatments can easily be used on the hands and body, as well as on the face, and these non-surgical treatments usually involve little, or no downtime after the treatment.

Rejuvenate Dull Skin with Chemical Peels & Microdermabrasion - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Sometimes products that we use on our face don't seem to work as effectively as they should, and dry skin and blocked pores can prevent our skin creams from absorbing into the skin. We all wish for a flawless complexion, and we usually resort to wearing foundation make-up to cover up the true condition of our skin. Over time many of us have experienced some sort of skin problem and whether it's a blemish, pigmentation, sunburn, hormonal changes or acne scarring, these changes, especially on the face, can sometimes make us feel embarrassed and self-conscious.

There are treatments we can have that will clear our skin of a build up of dirt, dead skin and blocked pores, and will give us a renewed, healthier and clearer complexion. Chemical peels are ideal for removing older, and damaged skin, helping to improve the quality and revealing clearer, brighter and smoother skin underneath.

Pigmentation is the colouring of a person's skin. Healthy skin will appear normal in colour, but the colour may change because of illness or injury and become darker (which is hyperpigmentation) or lighter (which is hypopigmentation) In some women, higher levels of hormones during pregnancy can cause a darkening of the skin across the upper lip, nose, cheeks and forehead, and it can also happen through taking the contraceptive pill.

Liver spots, mottled brown patches and large freckles on the face, chest and hands affects millions of women. Liver spots occur because of damage caused by the sun's ultraviolet radiation, and the best way to prevent this happening is by using a high factor sun cream on exposed skin from an early age.

Unique non-invasive chemical peels can give dramatic results:
  • Dull lifeless skin - a deep exfoliation, helps to stimulate production of new collagen.
  • Ageing - can cause irregular skin texture, because the cells on the skin's surface don't shed as quickly.
  • Sun damaged skin - sun exposure will cause the breakdown of collagen and elastin which contributes to uneven skin texture.
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Improves fine lines and wrinkles
  • Active acne
Microdermabrasion treats an uneven skin tone. Treatment promotes growth of new skin and collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effect of ageing, and it's popularly used for the face, neck, chest and hands.

Microdermabrasion treatment
  • Microdermabrasion improves:
  • Blotchy, uneven skin tones
  • Dull lifeless skin
  • Enlarged pores/blemishes
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damaged skin/age spots
  • Acne scarring
  • Blackheads and white heads
Microdermabrasion is not only a great treatment for normal skin, but it also treats premature ageing caused by sun damage, fine lines, dry skin, acne, mild scars and sunspots.

Get Your Skin Ready For Spring With Microdermabrasion - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The winter months can affect your skin, and the cold wind, driving rain and lack of sun can make your skin look dull, old and lifeless. But, with better weather just around the corner, we really need to get our skin ready so we can say goodbye to winter, and hello to spring. To prepare for the warmer weather ahead, there are some basic things that you can do to make sure you'll look your best, and now is the best time freshen up your skin and revive your complexion.

Lots of us neglect to consider what effects the change in season has on our skin. So while we're waiting for the sunshine, it's a great time to spring-clean not only your beauty bags, but also your skin care products and routines.

Before and after microdermabrasion treatment

Clean up and clear out
First of all, get out all of your bottles, tubes and jars and go through them one by one. Any creams or serums that you no longer use, or if you've tried them but you don't really like them - throw them out! If they're past their best, then they could easily be harbouring harmful bacteria, which can lead to clogged pores and dull skin. Skin care products will eventually expire, so if you don't use it - lose it!

You should also review your daily skin care products. In the spring and summer we tend to use moisturisers and serums that are lighter in texture, than those that we wear in the winter months. Lots of us tend to buy the same things every year, but what worked for your face in your 20's, won't necessarily work for you in your 30's or 40's.

There are a great number of skin products in the shops, and finding the right skin care for your skin can prove overwhelming. Do you need to revitalise your skin, or need deep moisture penetration, or maybe an uplift? Find out what suits your skin, and buy the appropriate creams and lotions.

We should also remember our makeup brushes, because if they aren't regularly cleaned, they can store unwanted germs and viruses. You should ideally wash your brushes weekly with hand soap and dry them out with a hair-dryer.

Microdermabrasion treatment

Exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin gets rid of the dead skin cells, which helps to stimulate cell turnover, making your skin smoother, healthier and ready to absorb your moisturiser and serums. Spring is not the time for harsh facial scrubs, when spring arrives it's time for a gentle exfoliation routine and you might want to change from a strong mechanical scrub to a kinder, softer cleansing cloth.

Remember the lip balm

Once we leave the winter behind us and we change our skin care routine to suit the kinder months, we must remember to keep using lip balm. Maybe change the thicker winter balm for a lighter one, but hydration for the lips is essential. Stop using it, and you might end up with dry, chapped lips that will take longer to repair than to prevent.

Chemical peel treatment

Have a face treatment
If, after the cold winter months, you feel that your skin is looking dull and tired, visit a professional and get a deep cleansing facial treatment. A deep exfoliation will help strip away your dull, tired skin, revealing the fresh skin underneath. Removing the outer skin cells which are dead and damaged will reveal the new skin just in time for spring. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion will strip back the skin's dead layers, targeting sun-damaged skin, blocked pores and fine lines, getting your skin ready for your serums, creams and lotions to penetrate deeper, as well as giving your skin a revitalising treatment, and leaving you looking rejuvenated.

Botox, Peels & Microdermabrasion Face Treatments - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Mother's Day is getting nearer, so if your Mum is feeling a bit frayed around the edges, or has expressed an interest in giving her skin a boost, then how about getting her a facial treatment at Selston Cosmetic Clinic! Maybe you are a Mum yourself and want a treatment to freshen and brighten your skin, well come and see us, and see what we have to offer!

Botox
These muscle relaxing injections are particularly effective for treating forehead wrinkles and the laughter lines around the eyes. The main causes of wrinkling of the skin are ageing, exposure to the sun and smoking.

Botox is a straightforward procedure. We inject Botox using a disposable syringe with a very fine needle. Minute amounts of Botox muscle relaxant, very precisely, gently and painlessly get injected into several locations on the face, chosen by the practitioner, who has carefully examined the movements of the muscles on your face. Botox gives excellent results on the forehead, frown lines, crows feet and neck bands and this treatment will make your face look smoother, younger, more relaxed and healthier.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a wonderful treatment, it will freshen up the skin, help with large pores and get the skin nice, smooth and glowing, for that special occasion.

We pass a wand, delivering a fine jet of abrasive crystals over the skin, which exfoliates dead skin particles and then a vacuum action removes the debris. It removes only the very top layer of skin smoothing out the skin texture and helping to remove superficial scarring and imperfections.

It only takes about 30 minutes, doesn't need pain relief and has almost no down time after the treatment. We can treat all skin types and skin colours without risks and side effects. The microdermabrasion procedure may cause slight discomfort, but shouldn’t be painful. The skin can sometimes feel a little tender after treatment.

Chemical Peels
At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we offer revolutionary medical and cosmetic chemical skin peels, which are non-irritating, pain-free and don't cause skin shedding or redness. Fine wrinkles and open pores begin to appear when the collagen and elastin in our skin begins to deteriorate. Skin peels bring life back into your skin, resulting in smoother, finer skin.

So if you want to treat your Mum or even if you want to treat yourself, give us a call at Selston Cosmetic Clinic and see what treatments we can offer you.

If you want to reduce the appearance of any of these, then medical microdermabrasion is an ideal treatment.

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical skin rejuvenating technique, designed to improve the texture and appearance of the skin. Using fine crystals, like a hoover effect all over the skin. The results are subtle, resulting in a fresher look, reducing those fine lines and acne scarring. It's altogether a brilliant treatment which makes it a lot easier to apply make-up, leaving it feeling smoother and looking healthier.

Microdermabrasion doesn't use any lasers or chemicals. The treatment involves passing a fine collection of medical grade crystals over the skin's surface using a hand-held device. The microcrystals, which are hard enough to disrupt the unwanted, tired skin cells that cause dull looking skin, but small enough not to do any damage or cause pain or discomfort. The microcrystals propel across the skin's surface, removing just the top layer of skin cells, revealing new living cells and leaving behind a healthy glow. Treatment leaves the skins epidermal layers rejuvenated, leading to collagen production and plumper skin.

Microdermabrasion improves:
  • Blotchy, uneven skin tones.
  • Dull lifeless skin.
  • Enlarged pores/blemishes.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Sun damaged skin/age spots.
  • Acne scarring.
