PDO Thread Lift treatment - the non-surgical face lift.

Are you starting to look your age and feel like you could do with a face lift - but you definitely don't want to go under the surgeon's knife?

It's great when we're young and the skin on our face is nice and tight, the jaw-line is defined and the cheeks and chin have a smooth contour. But sadly, this youthfulness doesn't last.

Our skin is made up of 80 per cent collagen but disappointingly, after the age of 25 we lose it at the rate of about one per cent a year! Collagen, which is responsible for the smooth, plump appearance of young, healthy skin is lost, and we are left with wrinkles and saggy skin which is a lot less elastic.

Polydioxanone (PDO) is a wound stitching thread which has an excellent safety record and has been involved in surgical use for 25 years.

Time For A Break...Selston Cosmetic Clinic

After a very busy Summer it was finally time for holidays...i can't tell you how excited i was!! 

We headed off to Singapore to begin our journey around the Far East on a cruise.  We had lots of tours already planned and knowing we were going to gain a few pounds on cruise food booked in for afternoon tea at Raffles Hotel.... what pigs we were!

Our next port of call was Thailand where even more yummy food was consumed... and lots and lots of shopping done.....i was in shopping heaven :)

On to Vietnam, my personal favourite destination of the trip. Beautiful sights, white sands and palm trees, chic bars and restaurants and even more delightful food!!

In Saigon we were surprised by the amount of cosmetic clinics popping up. The Vietnamese are very much into wanting to maintain their looks as much as the rest of us.

Signs on the streets offering Botox and Dermal fillers immediately caught our eye with very pretty girls on the streets handing out leaflets.

 Chic bars on the beaches of Nha Trang serving the most delicious food i have ever come across for very little money...

The final part of our trip saw us in Hong Kong for a couple of days, beautiful sights by night and even more shopping and food by day. Our luggage and waistlines were a lot more stretched on the return journey!
All in all, an amazing holiday with lots of relaxation, recharging the batteries for the upcoming festive season :)

Summer is coming..... Botox for underarm sweating.

Hi Mags,

You asked me to let you know how I got on with the underarm botox, we’ll I’m delighted to say exceptionally well !

Although you said it may take a couple of weeks to work it pretty much worked immediately. My underarms were a little sore after all those injections for a day or so but nothing to stress over.
For me it’s made a world of difference and makes me less stressed. I love it – no underarm sweat at all even after excessive exercise although my brain thinks I am but a quick touch of my arm pit re-assures me all is dry. No more stained shirts etc.

Love it – wish I knew about it years ago. My only fear now is that it stops working in less than 6 months time but when it does, I’ll be back. Please pass on my comments to Dr Bassi.

Like with all semi permanent make up , an anesthetic is applied to the area, a drawing and colour discussion takes place so you feel completly comfortable with the overall outcome.

There tends to be two main types of procedure,the eyelash enhancement and the eyeliner. The eyelash enhancement is the application of pigment throughtout the lashes only, allowing you lashes to look enhanced.

The eyeliner is simply adding onto the eyelash enhancement and taking the pigment onto the actual eyelid to enhance the shape of the eye even further. Again the amount of area needed for treatment will be decided with discussion to what feels natural to you.

PRP Update

Its now been five months since we introduced PRP to our clients, with very favourable results.
As PRP works by stimulating the regeneration and recovery of aging facial tissue, you have to wait for up to three months to allow the stem cells to attach and start to work.

PRP ( platelet rich plasma ) is the only treatment that can be used safely on the under eye wrinkles. We have been trialing this now for a while and the results are really very visible.
Clients are reporting back subtle improvements in wrinkle reduction, better skin texture and appearance and open pores reducing dramatically.

Hi all! - Roberta James here again,!

Due to increase in the volume of clients here at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, we now feel it is the time to bring somebody on board to help with the range of cosmetic treatments that we offer.

For the past few months Dr Bassi and myself have been training Helen (already a fully qualified nurse) who is going to work with me as a Cosmetic Technician.

It has been a lot of hard work to achieve the high standard necessary to get Helen fully trained, but it has certainly paid off and Helen is now ready to be join us as a valuable member of the team and provides us with another excellent asset.

Helen will be working on a Monday morning and every other Saturday morning, doing Medical microdermabrasion, Skin peels, laser hair removal and laser skin rejuvenation increasing our available treatment times.
