Lose Unwanted Fat From a Double Chin with Vaser Lipo - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When you have a firm, chiselled chin it can help to define the shape of your face and profile in a positive way, but over time fat can settle under the chin. Lots of women become concerned that a rounder, fuller face can give the impression that they're fatter than they actually are.

There are some things we can do, to try to help reduce the double chin:

Facial exercises
* Open your mouth and move the lower jaw from right to left, repeating for at least 5 minutes a day for the best results.
* In an exaggerated way, pronounce the vowels - A E I O and U stretching the mouth area wide. For the best results, repeat 15 times a day.
* Open your mouth wide and try to pull your bottom lip towards your nose, moving the lower jaw up and down,
* While keeping your spine straight, roll your head gently, first turning your head clockwise, then anticlockwise.
Chewing Gum
If the cause of the double chin is through weak, sagging muscles then chewing gum is a good remedy (try sugar free) Chewing gum will give your facial muscles and the jaw a workout and help to tone your chin.
Posture
Posture can play a role in reducing your double chin, as sitting for long periods with your head down and your shoulders hunched can cause you to ruin your posture, lose flexibility and weaken the muscles in the front of your neck which encourages a double chin. Sit straight and look forwards.

Even slender people who don't have any excess body weight might get a double chin, and this can happen for a variety of reasons. It might be that your chin is inherently weak, it could be a trait that's been passed along through the family through genetics, gaining excess weight or just getting older. Whatever the reason, most people think that it makes them look older and heavier.

Vaser lipo is a safe and effective way to get rid of excess fat from beneath the chin. A small incision's made under the chin and a cannula gets inserted to drain out the excess fat. This fat gets dislodged and melted, and then the liquid fat is drained. The treatment is relatively painless and needs only a local anaesthetic. The recovery time is brief and there's a very low risk of complications. Once you have completely healed you will appreciate the sharper, more defined chin and a face that's looking healthier and younger.

A double chin isn’t flattering on anyone, and sometimes, no matter how often we exercise or eat healthily, the double chin just won’t go away. People are usually self-conscious of a flabby chin and if it's unresponsive to diet and exercise, then vaser lipo treatment can give you the strong, defined chin that you want.

Versatile Ways To Use Botox at Selson Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Botox is one of the least invasive cosmetic procedures available, and demand for it has risen over the last decade, making botox treatment an affordable luxury. While we all know about the cosmetic benefits of botox, it's interesting to know that the use of botox for cosmetic purposes came about accidentally, when a Canadian doctor discovered an unexpected side-effect when she noticed that patients being treated for uncontrollable eye spasms began losing their frown lines when they had injections of botox. Although the results are temporary, the procedure was simple, safe and effective.

Botox causes a temporary improvement of the fine facial lines by blocking nerve transmission to temporarily reduce the facial muscle contractions which cause wrinkles and frown lines. These lines will look finer or potentially fade after multiple treatments, which give the face a more graceful appearance.

The skin tightening caused by botox injections around the eyebrows and forehead, are similar to a non surgical face lift, by relaxing the facial muscles that cause the wrinkling associated with ageing. The skin tightens after the botox injection and the face starts looking younger within a short period.
These days, botox is mostly used as an anti-ageing facial treatment, and improvements can easily be made on many parts of the face, but it also works for other medical conditions.

Places where can Botox help:
  • Eyes - Used to take away fine lines and wrinkles from around the eyes
  • Chin - by softening the cobblestone or puckered appearance of the chin
  • Lip Lines - botox softens the lip lines and smokers lines above the lips
  • Nose - It can lessen the nostril flaring, to trim the width of the nose
  • Eyes - Will lift the brow, raising the outer third of the eyebrow and creating the perfect arch
  • Nose - By reducing the horizontal bunny lines on the upper part of the nose
  • Armpits - Injections of botox can stop excessive sweating under the armpits (hyperhidrosis)
  • Head - We use botox to treat migraines and tension headaches
Botox can work wonders, giving your face a fresh, healthy and wrinkle-free appearance, not a startled and expressionless look. A highly trained practitioner will tailor any facial remodelling treatments to suit each person, as no two faces are identical.

For women who are wary of going under the knife, but would like to lessen wrinkles and enhance their facial features, botox, a non-surgical injectable face lift option could be just what they're looking for. So whether you want to reduce wrinkles and fine lines or use as a treatment for medical ailments, the benefits of using botox are many.

Add Volume & Define Your Ageing Lips - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Many women can become concerned about their appearance as they get older, and they can feel really anxious about having thin, undefined lips. The lips are one of the facial features that represent health and vitality, and most women want plump, luscious lips that look young and healthy, but lots of women don't have naturally full lips, and others lose lip volume through ageing.

We can get distressed to notice our lips becoming thinner and losing their definition, but a lip treatment can create fuller lips while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Lip fillers are an easy, quick, affordable and non-invasive treatment which will that give you youthful looking, plump lips and as well as a more defined smile.

Lip fillers can treat many areas of the lips:
  • Create definition on the vermilion border
  • Improve lipstick bleeding lines
  • Add volume to the upper and lower lip to give fullness.
  • Add definition to the Cupids bow

Lip Enhancement treatment
Can improve the lip border, define the cupid bow to give the lips a balance and minimise lipstick bleed around the mouth.
Lip augmentation treatment
Will plump the lips, giving them a fuller appearance, as well as reducing the wrinkles around the mouth.

A lip treatment is ideal for many reasons; adding volume and definition, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, to help prevent lipstick bleeding into the lip wrinkles, as well as making your lips look younger. A lip filler treatment uses injectable filler in the lips to add volume and shape. You can get back youthful looking lips by having specialized lip fillers which are hyaluronic acid based.

The benefits of lip fillers;
  • The hyaluronic acid filler is safe
  • Easy, quick treatment
  • Non-permanent
  • Effective and beautiful results
  • Only clinically approved and regulated products used

Lip fillers use hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that's found in the body. It attracts water to the skin, plumping it up and giving the skin elasticity and volume. Lip fillers are temporary and last up to eight months. Over time the hyaluronic acid is gradually broken up as the mouth constantly moves for eating, talking and making facial expressions, and it disperses safely into the body.

Lots of people see results within 24 hours of having lip filler injections. Any swelling will go down after a few hours, leaving you with fuller, smoother lips that will last for up to eight months. An anaesthetic cream gets applied to the lips before the treatment and all you will feel is the pinch of a needle. There's no bruising or bleeding and only minimal swelling and you'll be able to return to your normal activities straight away.

A Non-Surgical Nose Job Can Make a Dramatic Difference - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Noses come in various shapes and sizes, depending on our cultural background, genetics or any fractures or imperfections caused through injury. Some people might be born with the perfect nose, whist others are desperately unhappy with theirs. Lots of people get embarrassed by their nose shape, thinking it's either too big, too small or has a bump on it. The nose is one of the first things that people tend to see when they first meet, and while some irregularities on the face can easily be hidden with make-up, there's not a lot we can do to change the nose, without having some help from the professionals.

Rhinoplasty is surgery that's done to repair the nose, change the shape, improve nasal breathing, or combinations of them all. Non-surgical nose jobs, where injections of dermal filler are strategically placed into the nose, are an alternative procedure available to those who want to improve their nose, without undergoing invasive surgery. The nose is in a prominent central place on the face, and a non-surgical nose job can make a dramatic difference in the facial appearance, leading to an increase in self-esteem and self-confidence.

The nose impacts on the balance and symmetry of your facial features, and reshaping can subtly enhance the contours of your nose and give it more definition.

Dermal fillers injected into the nose can:
  • Remove or smooth a hump or bump from the nose
  • Fill in dents or dips in the bridge
  • Straighten or raise an irregular bridge
  • Correct the size of the nose, to make it look bigger or smaller
  • Refine or reduce the nasal tip
  • Correct imperfections

Lots of people would like to improve their nose, either because they think it has a bend, or a hump in the ridge or maybe they don't like the tip. If you are not happy with the look of your nose, you can alter the way it looks. If you don't want to go the surgical route, then non-surgical treatments are very effective at changing the nose, which can result in a subtle change on the overall balance of your face.

A non-surgical nose job can't make a large nose smaller but it is ideally suited for refining the nose or correcting small areas, reshaping the tip, increasing the height of the bridge, creating shape and definition, adding balance and improving symmetry to your face.

Tips & Treatments for Ageing Skin / Botox & Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We can’t avoid ageing - it's part of life, but we don't have to like it! It begins with wrinkles, crow’s feet and sagging skin, and then we have to endure facial volume loss. We can still look youthful in our 40's, 50's and beyond, although it might take a bit more effort.

Lots of us aren't ready to look older, and the good news is that now, we can delay it. There are many cosmetic treatments we can have to help keep us looking younger, for longer and there are also some easy, everyday things we can do for ourselves.

Sun protection
To protect the skin from the sun, use a product with SPF in the ingredients and reapply throughout the day. Prevention is the key. The main cause of wrinkles, sun spots, pigmentation and many other signs of skin ageing is because of the UV rays from the sun. To further protect the skin, instead of getting a real suntan, try wearing fake-tan.

Facial expressions
To prevent lines and wrinkles you should try to stop pursing your lips, frowning and squinting. Be aware that all facial movement, when done repetitively, can cause frown lines and wrinkles to appear on the face.

Botox areas
Face exercises
The muscles in the face, just like any other muscle, will deteriorate as we get older. Doing facial exercises three to five times week will keep your facial muscles looking toned and this will to keep your face looking young and vibrant.

Exfoliate
Exfoliation is an important part of our beauty routine, as it's one of the best ways to renew the skin. When we exfoliate, it scrubs the face removing dead skin. It unclogs the pores and makes the skin more receptive to a moisturiser. Exfoliating once a week will improve the look and feel of your skin.

Teeth
When we first meet someone, the eyes and smile are the two features we immediately notice. The teeth help to hold the face and its muscles in place. Older people with false teeth usually have many wrinkles around the mouth and this is partly due to the lack of support for the muscles, when the false teeth come out at night.

Tech wrinkles
You should try to avoid looking downwards at your computer screen, as looking down can cause wrinkles. To help, you should keep your head held upwards, and place the computer screen at eye level, or lower your chair so you are looking up. The same applies when using your phone. Hold it straight in front of you instead of looking downwards.

Cleanse, tone and moisturize

We wash our face every morning and night to take away the sweat, dirt and pollution which collects on our face. If we don’t wash we'll get a build up of dead skin, make-up and dirt, leading to spots and dull skin. Toning helps to remove any left-over make-up or impurities that are still there after cleansing and helps to close and tighten the pores. Daily moisturizing helps to prevent water loss and will restore the skin’s moisture, enhancing its texture.

We should also take cosmetic treatments, such as botox and fillers into consideration when it comes to ageing skin. Even with all the care we give to our skin with anti-ageing products, it still won’t stop the eventual signs of getting old. Botox and fillers can relax the facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles and replace lost volume, making us look refreshed and rejuvenated.

Dermaroller Treatment to Improve the Skin's Look & Texture - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When we age, our collagen levels decline and our skin loses its elasticity and this can leave the skin looking tired and lined. Dermaroller treatment, also known as skin needling, reduces lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, making the skin look fuller and improving the texture.

Acne can leave behind scars and pock marks and the dermaroller procedure can help to regenerate the damaged skin, smoothing the scars and evening out the skin tone and texture. This will take time because the new collagen is forming, new skin cells are generating and the blood supply is becoming enhanced. Often you'll notice some improvement in the skin texture about one week after your treatment, but it can take about six weeks before we see bigger improvements, and over the following months the process will continue, giving the skin a natural and long-lasting enhancement.

Dermaroller is a handheld, sterilized, single-use roller with thousands of micro-medical needle-columns. It's passed across the skin, causing tiny micro punctures in the surface of the skin. Each column penetrates into the dermis of the skin and afterwards will rapidly close, enabling the skin to quickly recover. This stimulates the skin, causing it to repair and regenerate itself safely and naturally, creating smoother, healthier, younger-looking skin.

Dermaroller can treat;
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne or surgical scars
  • Large pores
  • Sun damage
  • Age spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Stretch marks
  • Rough patches and texture
  • Chicken pox scars

The number of treatments needed will really depend on how bad the problem is. It's recommended you have three treatments, six weeks apart, but more treatments might be needed. After treatment, your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis, generating new skin cells and enhancing the blood supply, as new collagen and elastin is forming.

Dermaroller doesn't need any downtime. After the treatment your skin will look flushed and it might feel a bit warm and tight, but this will fade after a couple of hours and any redness will disappear over the next few days. You will notice these effects less with each treatment, as your skin will become more resilient, the more treatments you have.

Aftercare following dermaroller treatment is important, with sun protection and moisturisation being vital. The cosmetic doctor will recommend you to use a moisturiser because as your skin begins to repair it might feel drier as it undergoes the repair and rejuvenation process. You must avoid sun exposure for two weeks after the treatment and use a chemical free high factor sun screen daily.

Improve an Ageing Face with a PDO Thread Lift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

If you feel that as you've grown older, the skin on your face has become loose or that it's starting to sag, and you would like a tighter, fresher, more youthful look without having any invasive surgery, then you should really consider PDO thread lift treatment.

When we age it causes the skin tissue to become thinner, because the collagen and elastin fibres break down, and this will result in sagging skin, creases, folds, lines and wrinkles. PDO threads are a non-surgical treatment that can restore the face and neck, giving it back a youthful shape. They can improve and reduce sagging, loose skin, such as the jowls, cheeks, neck and eyebrows.

At a consultation the cosmetic doctor will discuss your needs and decide what sort of result you are looking for. He will decide which areas he will concentrate on, to get an overall enhanced appearance. Thread lifts can help improve sagging cheeks, forehead wrinkles, deep lines and wrinkles, loss of facial volume, jowls and can even redefine the jaw line. Thread lifts are ideal for those who want a subtle change in their mid and lower face and don't want a long recovery time.

PDO Thread lifts can give you amazing results on;
  • Sagging jowls
  • Under eye bags
  • Drooping upper eyebrows
  • Defining the jaw line
The thread lift procedure involves lifting different areas of the face using specialised threads, all done without the need for surgical incisions. An ultra fine needle inserts the thread into the skin, into either the skin itself, the subcutaneous fat or the muscle.

The threads help to tighten and firm the skin by promoting collagen and elastin and also improves skin hydration by promoting hyaluronic acid which smooths the skin. Wrinkles will ease and the skin will look less crepe-like. You'll notice a lifted appearance immediately after the treatment, and the results will continue improving over the following days and weeks.

The benefits of a thread lift include;
  • Instant and long-lasting results
  • Minimal downtime
  • Increase in natural collagen production
  • No cuts and no incisions
  • No stitches
The PDO threads gradually dissolve after 6 months, and the skin will keep improving for about 2-6 months, as new collagen grows between the threads giving a further lift and tightening to the skin. The results last for 12-18 months.

RadioFrequency to Remove Unwanted Moles - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Moles are marks that can appear anywhere on your skin in various colours and sizes. They can look attractive on some people if they're placed strategically on the face, but for others, they are a nightmare and a big cause of self-consciousness. Moles are usually dark in colour and have a texture, making them difficult to disguise with a cosmetic foundation or concealer make-up.

The main cause of moles are usually a result of spending excess time in the sun, but some people will get moles with or without sun exposure, and they can also develop on non-exposed areas as well. Over time moles can change and they can grow in number.

Before and after Radio Frequency treatment
Some moles can fade away and sometimes they change because of hormonal changes, such as:
  • Pregnancy -  the mole might get slightly darker
  • In teenage years - moles might increase in number
  • Ageing - they might start to disappear from age 40 to 50 and onwards
The average adult might have between 10-40 moles on their face and body at any one time. Most of these are harmless and should cause no concern at all, but you should look out for any changes in them and regularly check your skin. Moles are irregular, they can change their colour which can lead to bigger issues, and there is definitely a need to keep an eye on your moles if you find they are growing in size, as the growth of a mole can indicate a possible sign of skin cancer.

Moles can result from sunburn or any skin imperfection and they can appear black, brown, or any other colour. Exposure to the sun is the main cause of moles but inherited genes from our parents can also be a cause.

Selston Cosmetic Clinic uses radio surgery for mole removal. This method produces radio waves which instantly vaporises the moles, and this results in much less scarring. The results will improve over the following 3-4 months, leaving minimal scarring.

At your Selston appointment, Dr Bassi will take a clinical history and check the mole, and if required he will analyse it using a state of the art skin scanner system, and if it's deemed necessary, send the excised mole away for histology.

Benefits;
  • There are no permanent side effects.
  • Treatment takes less than an hour.
  • It won’t leave scars on the skin.
  • It is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure.
