Transform Your Face With a Selston Sculpt - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Over time the essential structure of our face will change and this is mostly due to; our lifestyle, smoking, gravity and general ageing. Growing older means the skin will eventually start to sag as our body produces less collagen and elastin, which are proteins that are essential for maintaining younger-looking skin.

This is the Selston Sculpt a facelift procedure that naturally reduces the signs of ageing

The Selston Sculpt is a liquid facelift which uses both dermal fillers and botox injections to restore facial volume, reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate the face. It's a non-surgical facelift that will help to reduce dynamic wrinkles and restore lost volume, which together will create a lifted, naturally youthful look.

Ageing will cause:
  • The loss of facial elasticity and volume can lead to wrinkles, sunken areas and creases and folds developing.
  • Wrinkles will appear around the eyes, frown lines and horizontal  furrows on the forehead. You might also notice bunny lines on the sides of the nose and the lipstick lines on the upper lip.
  • Volume loss tends to occur in the mid-face around the cheek-bones causing sunken cheeks and hollows beneath the eye area.
  • Folds and creases can appear from the nose to mouth, known as the nasolabial and marionette lines, and on the chin and jowl areas.
Selston Sculpt treatment can gently lift the facial features and reduce the lines, wrinkles, folds and creases. It can help to restore the natural, curved facial features, giving the face a more rested, rejuvenated look and a friendlier smile.

The Selston Sculpt uses fillers of various densities to restructure and harmonise the face

We inject small amounts of botox precisely into various facial areas, chosen after careful examination of the muscle movements on the face. Botox temporarily suspends muscle movement in that area, and will smooth out forehead furrows, crows' feet and smokers lines around the lips.

Dermal fillers smooth out the deep marionette lines, or smile lines around the nose and mouth. It can restore volume to sunken cheeks and fill out hollows beneath the eyes, as well as adding volume to the lips. Fillers are ideal for smoothing out chin creases, restoring a youthful facial contour.

A Selston Sculpt will enhance the natural features of the face and smooth and tighten the skin, balancing out the shape of the face using advanced injectable techniques and giving instant, dramatic results.

Laser Treatment For Skin Pigmentation - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Pigmentation on our skin is a common and usually harmless condition, which occurs when patches of skin become darker in colour, causing an uneven skin tone. We'll start to notice that patches of skin such as freckles and age spots will often appear on the skin as we reach 40, as this is when our skin begins its true ageing process. As we age our skin is less able to repair sun damage, like it did when we were younger.

Pigmentation is a skin condition that occurs in people, usually due to an unhealthy or higher production of a pigment called melanin. Pigment decides the colour of our skin, hair and eyes and people with a darker skin tone will have more melanin in their skin cells than those with lighter skin, and if the skin cells become damaged or unhealthy, it will affect the melanin production, which in turn, will affect your skin. Higher production of melanin causes a number of skin problems, such as dark spots, dark patches, uneven skin tone, and dark circles.

Pigmentation can happen for many reasons: over exposure to the sun, genetics, hormonal changes, medical conditions or as a result of burns and it can also become more obvious as we get older, causing liver and age spots which if left untreated can worsen. Some pigmentation disorders just affect certain patches of skin, and while these patches aren't harmful, they can cause some distress.

Advanced laser technology can help resolve skin pigmentation problems, resurfacing the top layers of the skin and causing sun damage and pigmentation to disappear. It offers us a safe, effective and easy way to treat irregular pigmentation. Laser treatment works by damaging the top layers of the skin, forcing the collagen to kick in and start repairing the damage, so after a few weeks the skin will looker plumper and revitalised. The laser system resurfaces the skin and as the laser stimulates the collagen production, you'll see a continuous improvement in texture and smoothness of the skin over several months.

Most clients experience minimal discomfort, although some might experience a minor stinging sensation on the skin during the laser delivery, but a topical anaesthetic cream before the treatment begins will make it more comfortable. Afterwards, the skin on the treated areas will become darker, but this will flake off after a few days. You'll most likely be able to see an improvement in skin tone and texture as soon as the redness fades after the first treatment.

Depending on the size of the affected area, the treatment sessions can take between five to thirty minutes. A single treatment session will get the desired result, but sometimes two laser treatments may be needed, taken one month apart. The results of laser treatment are permanent.

Laser Treatment for Spider Veins on the Legs - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

As we get older, it's possible that tiny blood vessels can become dilated and look as though they are close to the surface of the skin. Both our skin, and our veins become weakened with age, and this can cause spider veins to look more visible on ageing or mature skin. These veins are fine purple or red wavy lines and they're known as broken, thread or spider veins.

Lots of people suffer from spider veins on the legs, which are blood vessels that can appear on the thighs, calves and ankles. They get their name from the shape of the veins, some which are quite small, while others are more noticeable. Finding visible dilated or broken blood vessels on the legs, especially when they can easily be seen by other people, can affect our confidence and self-esteem.

Spider veins are more likely to appear on women than on men and they are normally found on the legs, but unfortunately they can also appear on the face, breasts and arms. People, especially women, who have thread veins on the face and legs can find them embarrassing or unsightly, and it can affect their self-confidence.

There's no obvious cause for why we get thread veins, they tend to develop as we age, with the skin and blood vessels become less elastic. Hormonal changes associated with pregnancy and the menopause can also provoke their development, as well as the elements; too much sunbathing, exposure to wind or extreme temperatures. Although you may not like the look of them, thread veins aren't dangerous, but they tend to become larger and increase in number over time. Most spider veins aren't painful but they can cause us embarrassment.

Spider veins are like varicose veins, but smaller and nearer to the surface of the skin but while there's surgery to treat the larger varicose veins, laser treatment can help with the smaller veins. The safest, most effective treatment for spider veins is laser treatment.

The benefits of laser treatment include:
*  A fast and safe way to eradicate the thread veins on the legs
*  Thread veins will only recur in a small percentage of cases
*  Laser treatment can help to restore your self-confidence
*  Ongoing improvements seen after each treatment

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic, during the treatment a laser gets applied to the skin directly above the spider veins. The energy from the laser is preferentially absorbed by coloured tissues and the energy causes the spider veins to heat up and collapse. After treatment, the body slowly re-absorbs the veins.

Slow Down Facial Ageing With Botox Injections - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The signs of ageing can get you down, and seeing lines and wrinkles can knock your confidence and make you feel insecure when we start looking older. So if you're beginning to see an increase in wrinkles, or you're noticing fine lines on your face, or maybe you feel you just don't look as youthful and bright as you used to, then botox might be the answer to help reducing or eliminating those ageing wrinkles.

Botox Treatment Before and After

Botox injections are one of the most popular anti-ageing treatments on the market, thanks to its safety and effectiveness. But we must always remember that despite Botox's popularity and its increasing use, the treatment is still a medical procedure, and only a fully trained and highly experienced cosmetic doctor or nurse practitioner should carry out this treatment.
Botox treatment can also be used for:
  • Over active frown
  • Crows feet, fine lines and wrinkles
  • Correcting lines from repeated facial expression and worry lines
  • An eye lift
  • Correcting uneven eyebrows
  • Tightening the jaw line
  • Correcting the downward corners at each side of the lips
  • Treating migraines
  • Treating hyperhidrosis (armpit sweating)
Always choose a highly trained cosmetic practitioner to inject your botox treatment, as they will have performed lots of botox treatments, have a large client base and will have lots of before and after photo's, and they will have reviews and recommendations of their work that you can look at.

At your consultation you will discuss what requirements you have, and what your expectations are. When botox is properly done, no-one will be able to tell that you've had any treatment, the injections will just leave your face looking relaxed and refreshed. By choosing the right cosmetic doctor to achieve your aim, your appearance will look much improved, but will still remain looking completely natural.

Botox brow lift

*  Always check that the practitioners qualifications are authentic
*  Don't book because of offers like two for the price of one, or introduce a friend and get a discount
*  Make sure you have treatment in a clinic which is clean
Be aware that the cheapest priced treatment won't always be the best
Look at their before and after photos to check what results they achieve
Check online to see reviews to get recommendations
*  Ask around for word of mouth reviews

Continuity is always a good idea, so for any treatment where you go back for top up's and more treatments, it's wise to use the same practitioner who knows what you want, what you are hoping to achieve and who knows your face.

Rejuvenate An Ageing Face With A Liquid Facelift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

As the years go by, we begin to notice signs of ageing as they start showing on our face. Ageing brings about many changes in the face and we'll start to notice fine lines and wrinkles and dull, tired skin as the skin loses collagen and elasticity and starts to sag. We also lose volume, and this makes the cheeks and temples look flatter and hollow, the lips can become thinner and less defined and troughs can appear beneath the eyes. Wrinkles and fine lines will also, sooner or later make their presence felt.

With so many treatments available to rejuvenate the skin we can find very hard to know which one is the best for us. The liquid facelift has made a big impact during the past few years, aiming to treat the upper, mid and lower areas of the face, to create a refreshed, balanced appearance that is subtle and entirely natural looking. The non-surgical liquid facelift procedure uses injectable treatments; botox to ease the look of wrinkles, folds and creases and strategically placed dermal fillers to help increase the volume and the shape of your face.

Botox
We use botox injections to freshen up the face, softening fine lines and wrinkles and eliminating frown lines, crows feet and forehead furrows. Strategically placed, botox can also give you an eye lift and lift the corners of the mouth.

Dermal fillers
Dermal Fillers injections will add volume to fill out the hollows in the cheeks, the troughs under the eyes, they'll plump up the lips and create a softly contoured, more youthful-looking face. Some of the most ageing lines and creases on the face are in the area between the nose and mouth, but they can easily be corrected with dermal fillers.

When using dermal fillers and botox injections together, it's now possible for a skilled cosmetic doctor to help you look younger and more refreshed within the hour. The liquid facelift treatments will restore the skin and the facial contours to its former youthfulness, and after the treatment you'll not only appreciate your reflection in the mirror, but you'll also get a boost in your self-confidence.

A liquid facelift can address many of the signs of ageing, without the need for invasive cosmetic surgery. It's a quick and effective treatment that's minimally invasive and is a walk in, walk out procedure. It has long-lasting results and a short recovery time with only minimal swelling and bruising.

Treatments For Rejunenating The Ageing Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Normal signs of ageing on the face can include fine lines and wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, and unfortunately these issues will only intensify over time. Our skin naturally starts to lose elasticity  causing wrinkles, and things like repeated facial expressions, sun exposure, smoking, poor diet and dehydration will all speed up the natural ageing process, causing wrinkles.

Our skin ages in different ways:
  • Wrinkles -  Skin loses some of its elasticity causing wrinkles and fine lines. As it becomes thinner and drier, we will notice new wrinkles appearing around the neck, eyes, forehead, mouth and lips. Repetitive movements of the face over the years are usually the cause of these lines.
  • Frown lines - Frequent frowning when concentrating or worrying, can cause deep forehead furrows.
  • Eye Lines - Wrinkles appear at the outer corners of the eyes, caused by squinting in sunshine, reading in dim light, or looking at the computer screen.
  • Mouth lines - Fine lines around the edges of the mouth and lips are usually caused by smoking, pursing the lips or puckering up the lips when drinking through a straw.
Botox brow lift

Loss of volume
A dramatic change to the skin as we reach our thirties, is the loss of collagen. Collagen production starts to diminish over time, leaving fine lines and wrinkles and a loss of skin elasticity. We'll lose plumpness in the face because of fat and tissue loss under the skin. This lost volume can make the face look gaunt and hollow, especially around the eyes and the cheeks.

The natural rate of ageing causes some of our wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, but there are some characteristics of ageing which are completely out of our control; like genetics, anatomy and gravity. However, there are cosmetic procedures available which can help to slow down the ageing process.

Profhilo - This contains pure hyaluronic acid with no added chemicals, making it an extremely safe cosmetic treatment, with no risks. The slow release of hyaluronic acid injections stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin, which results in significant improvement of tissue quality. Profhilo is an injectable treatment that can both prevent and correct the signs of ageing.

Botox - The signs of facial ageing can easily be reduced or eliminated by botox treatment, resulting in a natural and more youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers - The precise placing of fillers gives a natural filled out appearance to the hollows in sunken cheeks and under eye troughs and softens deep grooves, giving you dramatic results.

Give Your Lips Fullness & Definition - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When we get older, there's the possibility that our lips will become thinner and lose their definition and this can cause us to feel self-conscious about our smile, or make us notice that our lips seem to disappear when we speak or smile. Over the last few years, fuller lips have become very popular and the size and shape of the lips can easily be enhanced with dermal filler treatment, giving more volume and a fuller look to the lips.

Lip enhancement:
generally involves giving your lips the outline and definition that time has destroyed and it will also minimise any lipstick bleed. Dermal fillers will balance the cupids bow and will also define the philtrum ridges, further enhancing the features of the lips.

Lip augmentation: involves inserting dermal filler into the lips to make the body of the lips fuller. You can get more substance by adding filler to the top and bottom lips.

Results include improving:
  • Vermilion border - to give outline and definition
  • The upper and lower lip - adding volume and substance to the lip
  • Cupid bow - balancing and defining the cupids bow
  • Philtrum ridges - defining the features of the lips
  • Creating fuller upper or lower lips
  • Removing fine lines around the mouth
Using a fully trained practitioner at a reputable clinic means you won't have to worry about things like over inflated lips or the dreaded trout pout. You should always choose a practitioner who has performed lots of lip filler treatments, to make sure you leave the clinic with elegant-looking luscious lips. Whether the aim is to restore volume that's been lost due to the ageing process or to augment the lips to balance out the upper and lower lip proportions, an experienced doctor will have the training, skill and technique, which will enable him to recommend what will best suit your face.

Dermal filler treatments are a popular procedure, they only take about fifteen minutes and the results are almost instant. Just a small amount of dermal filler can make all the difference in plumping up the lips, making them more defined. Normally one syringe of dermal filler is more than enough to make a big difference and the results will last around six months.

The great thing about lip fillers is how the results are almost immediate. After the injections, you may get some swelling, but once it has gone down, you'll see the effects without having to wait weeks to see your new lips. Filler treatments last a considerable amount of time and get excellent results, but they aren't a permanent solution and you will need top-up treatments.

Smooth Away Wrinkles with Botox - Nottingham, Derby,Mansfield & Chesterfield

Ageing affects every area of the body, but of all the changes that occur, the changes in the face are the most obvious. Wrinkles and fine lines are the most common signs of ageing which form through smiling, squinting, smoking, and any other repeated facial movement. Most of our wrinkles develop because of damage to the skin, with the most damage coming from excess exposure to sunlight.

It's never too late to slow down signs of ageing and even those who are already starting to show some early skin ageing can benefit from making some lifestyle changes.

The rate of facial ageing will increase:
  • When the skin becomes dehydrated it leaves the skin looking flat and dull, and the dryness will make the wrinkles show up more.
  • Lighter skin tones also more prone to sun damage making the daily application of sunscreen essential.
  • Repeated facial expressions like smiling, squinting and frowning often cause the first of your wrinkles to form.
  • Heredity plays a role in how we age. The timing at which we start to develop wrinkles is partly influenced through genetics.
  • Smoking can add fine lines and wrinkles to the mouth, causing lipstick to bleed its colour into the lip wrinkles.
  • Sleeping on the same side every night, will repeatedly press and squash the face to the pillow.
Even if you have great genes and look younger than you are, there's no way to avoid the ageing changes in your facial appearance. The changes that appear on our face, are reflections our happiness and life challenges, and we can either learn to love these changes, or decide to do something about them.

Botox is a prescription medicine that's injected into the facial muscles to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet at the sides of the eyes. As long as you're treated by a medical expert, trained in facial anatomy, you will look younger and refreshed and you won't lose the ability to express any emotions or expressions.

These days we are all familiar with botox treatment, used to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles on different areas on the face, depending on the way your muscles of facial expression work. Botox treatments can easily be combined with treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion and dermal fillers, which can also help to prevent new wrinkles and lines from forming on the face.

Erase Spider Veins With Laser Treatment - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

As the weather gets warmer, that's the time most people want to wear shorts, skirts and bathing costumes, but unfortunately for those with spider or thread veins, the thought of wearing skimpy, more revealing clothes isn't an appealing one. Women of all ages can get unattractive spider veins on the face and legs, they are all too common and can cause a great deal of embarrassment. Until recent years, the only option was to cover the face with make-up concealer and the legs with trousers or tights.

Spider veins are very common, they appear on the skin in a reddish, purple and blue zigzag pattern. Thread veins are often a sign of getting older, because as the body ages, the valves in the veins weaken, and blood can collect, causing the veins to enlarge and become more visible. These veins can appear all over the body, but they are most commonly seen on the legs, face, ankles, feet and thighs. Spider veins are like varicose veins but smaller and they're also nearer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins.

Spider veins on the legs - before and after laser treatment

Patterns of red and blue veins that develop on the face are known as spider or thread veins and usually most women consider them unsightly to look at. Most spider veins don't cause any health problems, they're not painful but they're considered displeasing, especially on the face and many people use concealer to cover them up. So instead of spending large amounts of money on make-up to cover up the spider veins on the face, the good news is that there is an alternative permanent solution.

Thread veins tend to develop as we age, when our skin and blood vessels become less elastic, but they can also be associated with pregnancy, menopause, family predisposition, sunbathing or exposure to wind or extreme temperatures. There's no reason we should put up with unsightly thread veins, when there is such a simple solution to permanently banish those tell-tale signs of ageing.

Facial spider veins before and after laser treatment

The safest, most effective cosmetic medical treatments for leg and facial veins is laser treatment. A laser gets lightly applied to the skin directly above the spider veins, making the vein disappear. The energy from the laser gets absorbed by coloured tissues, such as spider veins, breaking them down. The closed and sealed vein is then dissolved and absorbed by the body. After treatment, the body slowly re-absorbs the veins. A laser treatment takes only fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

Fill in Under Eye Hollows with Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The tear trough is the area beneath the eye and the upper cheek. When we are young, the area under the eye is plump and firm, but as we age we start to lose volume, and it's through this volume loss that we develop a sunken dip under the bottom eyelash line to the upper cheek, giving us a tired, aged appearance.

Fresh looking eyes are a big asset to the overall appearance of a youthful, attractive, healthy face and deep hollows under the eyes can seem very ageing and leave you looking like you haven't slept in weeks. Over time the hollows change in appearance and become longer, deeper and more shadowed.

Tear troughs are usually caused by the thinning of the skin and the sagging of the cheek tissues, but they can now be corrected with advanced dermal fillers. This treatment will also help correct under eye dark shadowing. The older we get, the more we can expect to notice changes in our face such as dark circles and the deepening of the hollows under our eyes, and this happens because of the ageing process, genetics, unhealthy lifestyle or by sun damage.

The Tear Trough procedure is an ideal treatment for:
  • Sunken eyes
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Tired looking eyes
  • Eye bags
Deep unsightly hollows can now be corrected with advanced dermal fillers, and this filler treatment will also help to correct the dark shadowing beneath the eye. This loss of volume in the tissue causes troughs to appear and they often look worse when we're tired or dehydrated.

You should always choose a cosmetic practitioner with lots of experience in treating the face, as detailed knowledge of the anatomy is essential when treating this delicate area, and luckily at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, Dr Bassi has had over ten years of experience in cosmetic treatments and 26 years of experience in Medicine.

To minimise any discomfort, a topical anaesthetic cream gets applied about 20 minutes before your treatment starts, numbing the skin and easing any pain. The treatment only takes twenty to thirty minutes to complete and the results are instant. There's minimal downtime, although you may have a little bruising, as the skin under the eye is very delicate. Dermal fillers will rejuvenate tired looking eyes to create a more youthful appearance that lasts up to twelve months.

Laser Away Spider Veins on the Legs - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Spider veins seem to appear out of nowhere, one day, your legs will look flawless and the next you'll notice they're marked with visible veins. Lots of people suffer from having red or purple blood vessels on their legs, which are not veins, but usually dilated capillaries, which are commonly known as spider leg veins or thread veins.

These veins appear either; part of the ageing process, caused by over exposure to the sun, poor blood flow and circulation or maybe you simply have a family predisposition to them. We get leg veins when tiny veins congregate below the surface of the skin, causing red, blue or purple discolorations on the skin. Spider veins get their name from the shape of the visible veins, some are quite small, while others are more noticeable.

You can help to prevent spider veins by:
  • Avoid sitting or standing for long periods
  • Try to avoid crossing your legs when you're sitting down as this can weaken the vein walls, causing spider veins
  • Raise your feet when you're sitting down as this will improve the circulation and help regulate the blood flow in your veins. It will reduce swelling in the ankles and calves and will reduce the risk of spider veins
  • Limit the time you spend wearing high-heeled shoes, as heels put extra pressure on your legs, restricting the blood flow from the heart to the legs, and limited circulation can cause spider veins to appear
  • Wearing support tights will stimulate your blood vessels and improve your circulation
Although these veins might make you feel embarrassed, they are harmless and any treatment done on them is usually done for cosmetic reasons only. Spider veins tend to appear mostly on the thighs, ankles and calves, and are more common in women than men. Leg thread veins can run in the family, show up following an injury to the leg, appear during pregnancy or through hormonal changes.

Laser treatments to take away leg veins involve only minimal pain, however, whilst we deliver the laser pulses to the treatment area, some people may experience a light stinging sensation on the skin. Leg vein treatments take roughly 15 to 30 minutes, although the time varies, depending on the number of veins that need treating.

Occasionally, the treated area will be mildly swollen and sensitive for several weeks after your laser treatment. You should keep the area well moisturised and away from sunlight and avoid any strenuous exercise. We recommend wearing support tights or stocks one week after the treatment.

Erase Laugh Lines with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Facial expressions are a huge part of our life, and the more mobile the expressions we use when we talk, smile or laugh, the greater chance that deep laugh lines will develop at a younger age. People often feel that laugh lines will make their face look fatigued or drawn, but it's when these lines become more pronounced, that they become a problem.

Nasolabial folds are the two folds of skin that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They are natural facial contours which are commonly known as smile lines or laughter lines. Nasolabial folds can appear on the face of people as early as their 20's and they can be relatively fine, maybe just a fine wrinkle or become a deep fold, to the point that the skin above seems to hang over it.

There are several ways of reducing nasolabial folds, from topical treatments, to more invasive courses of action.
  • Creams and Serums - Using topical creams and serums may only be a short-term solution. Most of these creams contain ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid which improves the way the skin retains moisture, tretinoin which slows the breakdown of collagen, and exfoliants which help remove dead skin cells.
  • Cosmetic Surgery - Surgery is an expensive but long-term solution for reducing nasolabial folds, but it's an invasive surgical procedure and it's not a decision to take lightly. A facelift can reduce laugh lines, as the tightening of the skin makes the folds more shallow and less noticeable.
  • Dermal Fillers - Fillers offer the most effective non-surgical method for treating these lines. Non-permanent dermal fillers present a non-invasive and cost-effective means of treatment.
These facial lines are part of our normal anatomy and they can develop at any age and in fact, many of us grow up with a slight hint of laugh lines, but with time as we grow older, the fold can seem deeper as our skin loses volume. As we age we lose the elasticity in the skin, and our facial muscles weaken, making this area one of the first places to sag.

Dermal filler treatment usually takes 30-45 minutes and a local anaesthetic injection is usually given to minimise any potential discomfort. Correction or softening of these folds gives you a youthful fresher look and the results achieved by using dermal fillers for treating the nasolabial folds are stunning and natural looking.

Facial Fillers Erase Wrinkles & Add Volume - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Hyaluronic acid, hydration and water retention in our body decreases as we get older causing our skin to lose its plumpness and begin to get drier. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that occurs in the body, it holds water, which hydrates and gives volume to the skin, but unfortunately as we age this production of hyaluronic acid starts to diminish.

Cheek enhancement using dermal fillers
For many reasons; maybe age, stress or weight loss, we might find that our face is beginning to look tired, drawn and gaunt. Skin on younger people looks firmer and plumper in comparison, thanks in part to collagen and hyaluronic acid. One of the ways we can combat the signs of getting older, is to replace the hyaluronic acid that is lost during the ageing process with dermal fillers. They create a naturally smoothed out appearance, fill in the fine lines and wrinkles and plump out the grooves and creases.

Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment to improve facial contours, fill out sunken cheeks, reduce wrinkles and fine lines and help people regain their former youthful looks. Before our late 30's, the skin should still keep it's natural contoured nature and volume, without too many wrinkles or sagging, which makes the process a better prospect for middle-aged skin. Although late nights, heavy drinking and smoking can speed up the signs of ageing, so it's possible to need dermal fillers at a younger age.

Dermal fillers on tear troughs
Placing the fillers in strategic places will:
  • Add volume to hollowed, gaunt, or sunken areas of the face.
  • Give a natural filled out appearance under the lower eyelids, correcting the hollowed eyed look.
  • Soften the deep grooves between the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
  • Add volume to the cheeks, improving the marionette lines from the mouth to the chin.
  • Jowl correction will give you a smooth jaw line.
  • Will gently thicken skin that has thinned, due to ageing.
  • Improve furrows, deep folds and creases.
  • Will plump up the apples of the cheeks and sculpt the cheek bones.
  • Lip enhancement will give better definition, reduce lipstick bleed, add volume and give a fuller appearance.
Dermal filler on lip lines
The effects of dermal fillers are instant. There's a small chance however, of slight bleeding where the needle enters the skin, and slight swelling or redness at the injection area, although this will go down very quickly and the use of an ice pack will speed up resolution.

Enhance Your Lips With Lip Fillers at Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The more we age, the more likely we are to get new wrinkles, especially fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Because women's skin is thinner, they tend to get lip and mouth wrinkles more often than men and although lip wrinkles can happen to anyone, things such as repetitive movement, sun exposure, smoking and genetics will speed up the process.

Lots of face and body products claim to stop the effects of ageing, but unfortunately our skin will age regardless.

Ways to lessen lip lines and wrinkles:
  • Exfolliate - one of the best natural ways to lessen any wrinkles and lines on the lips is to exfolliate once a day, which will take away dead skin cells, making the wrinkles appear more shallow.
  • Apply lip balm - when the lips are kept moist and hydrated, it helps prevent them from drying and wrinkling. Also consider using lip balm with sunscreen, when you're out in the sun.
  • Diet - try to include food rich in antioxidants, such as leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and fatty omega 3 foods like fish or fish oil supplements into your diet.
  • Facial exercises - face massaging increases blood circulation and tightens muscles and tissues around the mouth.
  • Water - drink plenty of water to replace lost moisture to keep the skin hydrated and plump.

Injectable lip fillers plump up the skin, lessening the appearance of fine lines and creases at the lip. The filler stimulates collagen production and encourages new tissue growth in and around the injected area. Over time, the body absorbs the gel carrier, while collagen continues to grow at the injection site, replacing the gel with natural tissue.

It's important to keep the natural shape and contour of the lips when you have filler treatment. Doctors can control how much volume they add to the lips, they can offer a gradual pace of treatment and give extra injections during follow-up appointments. The results are immediate and can last for 8-12 months, and most people who get fillers will need at least one follow-up injection within a year.

Benefits of Lip Injections:
  • Safe and non invasive procedure
  • Provides quick and effective results
  • Provides volume to thin lips, thus improving the skin around the mouth
  • Minimal recovery time and side effects
  • Clients can resume routine activities almost immediately

Treatment time for lip filler treatment is about 20-30 minutes  After the lip injections the client may very occasionally experience slight redness, mild swelling and maybe some tenderness but this disappears quickly.

Erase Lip Lines & Creases with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Sometimes it seems that wrinkles show up in all the wrong places. On first meetings, most people focus their attention on the other person's eyes or mouth and unfortunately, those are the exact areas where fine lines and wrinkles first begin to show.

Even while we're young, the signs of ageing will still show in our face a lot sooner than we want, especially around the mouth and lower face area. It's very demoralising to notice the beginnings of lip creases and lip lines, especially when we apply lipstick and we see the colour bleeding into our lip wrinkles, ruining our smile.

Causes of upper lip wrinkles:
  • Repeatedly making the same facial expressions
  • Pursing the lips
  • Smoking
  • Excessive sun exposure which can break down collagen and elastin in the skin
  • The passage of time breaking down the skin's elasticity
Over time these can cause fine lines to appear around the mouth, and the thinner the skin, the more visible the lines and creases become. After many years, these lines can become permanent indentations on the lips and mouth area.

Lip creases, also called lipstick lines or smoker's lines, are those fine lines that start to radiate from the lips as we get older. These vertical lines on the lips are especially problematic for women as the lip lines can also cause lipstick to bleed, which is a major sign of ageing.

Ageing plays a part forming lines on the lips but the good news is, we can do something about it. As we age our lips get thinner and lose their definition and a small amount of dermal filler can make all the difference.

There are many dermal fillers used to correct lip creases and lines, all which plump up the skin and help to create a younger, more youthful looking appearance. Recommended fillers for lip crease correction include:
  • Restylane range
  • Juvederm Ultra 2
  • Teosyal Fine Lines
The dermal fillers are non animal based hyaluronic acid, a substance which is naturally found in the body. The filler acts as padding and when it's injected it fills out the lines and creases beneath the skin.

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the lip area 20 minutes before treatment begins, which numbs the skin. The cosmetic procedure usually only takes about 20-30 minutes. There maybe some swelling after the treatment and perhaps some slight bruising, but the swelling resolves itself within a day or two and any minor bruising can always be covered up with make-up.

Lose Your Fine Lines & Wrinkles With Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

It's said that women look at their face in the mirror at least eight times a day; to check their make-up is still in place, to see if there are any mascara smudges under the eyes, or lipstick on their teeth. They might want to check a pimple, but usually women check their reflection for a sense of reassurance.

Women usually begin to show signs of facial ageing around the age of twenty-five, and the first signs are fine lines around the eyes and around the mouth. The “number elevens” the two frown lines between the eyebrows are common too.

Botox is a licensed medicine and administering it is an art that needs a high level of ability, along with a talent for the craft. The risk of infection when botox is administered by an untrained person is higher than with a fully trained, experienced provider. When it's not injected properly, or isn't injected in the precise place, then things can quite easily go wrong.

An unskilled person injecting botox could end up paralysing the wrong muscles, you might be left with drooping eyelids and eyebrows, or in the worst case scenario you could even paralyse the muscles that move your eyeball, which could give you long-term problems with your eyesight. Don’t let price be your guide. If you find treatment that's being charged at much less than the standard fee, then it's likely that compromises have been made; either in the skill of the provider, quality of the product or the amount of it that's being used.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we specialise in giving a soft natural look to your face, tailoring each botox treatment specifically for you and your needs. The botox procedure takes about 20 minutes and doesn't need any anaesthetic. It's injected with a very fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. Botox usually takes effect within 3 to 7 days after the injection and usually lasts from three to four months. The lines and wrinkles may look less severe with time because botox helps the muscles to relax.

So put yourself in our hands and your watch crows feet disappear around the eyes, along with those irritating lines and wrinkles around your forehead. Call now for an appointment and find out what we can offer you, and say goodbye to wrinkles.

Lose Unwanted Fat From a Double Chin with Vaser Lipo - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When you have a firm, chiselled chin it can help to define the shape of your face and profile in a positive way, but over time fat can settle under the chin. Lots of women become concerned that a rounder, fuller face can give the impression that they're fatter than they actually are.

There are some things we can do, to try to help reduce the double chin:

Facial exercises
* Open your mouth and move the lower jaw from right to left, repeating for at least 5 minutes a day for the best results.
* In an exaggerated way, pronounce the vowels - A E I O and U stretching the mouth area wide. For the best results, repeat 15 times a day.
* Open your mouth wide and try to pull your bottom lip towards your nose, moving the lower jaw up and down,
* While keeping your spine straight, roll your head gently, first turning your head clockwise, then anticlockwise.
Chewing Gum
If the cause of the double chin is through weak, sagging muscles then chewing gum is a good remedy (try sugar free) Chewing gum will give your facial muscles and the jaw a workout and help to tone your chin.
Posture
Posture can play a role in reducing your double chin, as sitting for long periods with your head down and your shoulders hunched can cause you to ruin your posture, lose flexibility and weaken the muscles in the front of your neck which encourages a double chin. Sit straight and look forwards.

Even slender people who don't have any excess body weight might get a double chin, and this can happen for a variety of reasons. It might be that your chin is inherently weak, it could be a trait that's been passed along through the family through genetics, gaining excess weight or just getting older. Whatever the reason, most people think that it makes them look older and heavier.

Vaser lipo is a safe and effective way to get rid of excess fat from beneath the chin. A small incision's made under the chin and a cannula gets inserted to drain out the excess fat. This fat gets dislodged and melted, and then the liquid fat is drained. The treatment is relatively painless and needs only a local anaesthetic. The recovery time is brief and there's a very low risk of complications. Once you have completely healed you will appreciate the sharper, more defined chin and a face that's looking healthier and younger.

A double chin isn’t flattering on anyone, and sometimes, no matter how often we exercise or eat healthily, the double chin just won’t go away. People are usually self-conscious of a flabby chin and if it's unresponsive to diet and exercise, then vaser lipo treatment can give you the strong, defined chin that you want.

Add Volume & Define Your Ageing Lips - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Many women can become concerned about their appearance as they get older, and they can feel really anxious about having thin, undefined lips. The lips are one of the facial features that represent health and vitality, and most women want plump, luscious lips that look young and healthy, but lots of women don't have naturally full lips, and others lose lip volume through ageing.

We can get distressed to notice our lips becoming thinner and losing their definition, but a lip treatment can create fuller lips while diminishing fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. Lip fillers are an easy, quick, affordable and non-invasive treatment which will that give you youthful looking, plump lips and as well as a more defined smile.

Lip fillers can treat many areas of the lips:
  • Create definition on the vermilion border
  • Improve lipstick bleeding lines
  • Add volume to the upper and lower lip to give fullness.
  • Add definition to the Cupids bow

Lip Enhancement treatment
Can improve the lip border, define the cupid bow to give the lips a balance and minimise lipstick bleed around the mouth.
Lip augmentation treatment
Will plump the lips, giving them a fuller appearance, as well as reducing the wrinkles around the mouth.

A lip treatment is ideal for many reasons; adding volume and definition, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, to help prevent lipstick bleeding into the lip wrinkles, as well as making your lips look younger. A lip filler treatment uses injectable filler in the lips to add volume and shape. You can get back youthful looking lips by having specialized lip fillers which are hyaluronic acid based.

The benefits of lip fillers;
  • The hyaluronic acid filler is safe
  • Easy, quick treatment
  • Non-permanent
  • Effective and beautiful results
  • Only clinically approved and regulated products used

Lip fillers use hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that's found in the body. It attracts water to the skin, plumping it up and giving the skin elasticity and volume. Lip fillers are temporary and last up to eight months. Over time the hyaluronic acid is gradually broken up as the mouth constantly moves for eating, talking and making facial expressions, and it disperses safely into the body.

Lots of people see results within 24 hours of having lip filler injections. Any swelling will go down after a few hours, leaving you with fuller, smoother lips that will last for up to eight months. An anaesthetic cream gets applied to the lips before the treatment and all you will feel is the pinch of a needle. There's no bruising or bleeding and only minimal swelling and you'll be able to return to your normal activities straight away.

Look Younger For Longer with Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Lots of people embrace their age and are happy moving into mid-life in pretty good shape, but for those who aren't as happy, there are things we can do for ourselves and our appearance, which will help us to stay looking younger, for longer.

Once we reach a certain age, there are ways that our hair can age us. Our skin tone changes as we get older and hair that's bleached too light, or dyed extremely dark can make our face look drawn or washed out. Finding a colour that suits your skin tone and getting highlights or lowlights added will lift your face and brighten your skin. We shouldn't choose hairstyles because they are the latest trend, but rather we should choose them to flatter our face. A face with a loss of collagen in the cheeks, will give the face thinner look, and a hairstyle with softness and volume will be more flattering.

The make-up we wear should change as we get older, as the cosmetics we wear in our twenties, won't work as well when we are over forty. Older women can still wear all the things they have always worn, eye shadow, eye liner, blusher and lipstick, but to avoid looking hard, or harsh, they should choose colours that are lighter and apply it subtly. Instead of eye shadows with a sparkle and sheen, try using eye shadows in matte and softer lipstick and lip gloss.

Clothes are a great way to express ourselves, but don’t follow a trend unless it suits the shape of your body. Always wear clothes that accentuate the best aspects of your body. Buy clothes with colours that suit your skin tone, as choosing the wrong colour can make your skin look dull, while the right colours can make you look vibrant.

Eventually we'll all notice our face is starting to get lines and wrinkles. Lines are usually small and fine, appearing because of repeated muscle movement such as smiling, frowning, smoking and squinting. Lines normally appear underneath and around the eyes, on the lips, in between eyebrows and on the cheeks. Wrinkles on the other hand are static and are more dramatic than lines, and they're located anywhere on the face, neck, chest arms or body, remaining on the skin as visible folds and creases, even when the muscle is relaxed.

Treat your skin well and it look better for longer. If you really want to look tanned - use fake tan. The sun is the absolute worse thing for the skin, not only for ageing the skin and causing wrinkles but also because of the risk of skin cancer. Most of us feel we look better with a tan, so if you are out and about in the sunshine, make sure you use a high factor sun screen.

If you want a bit of extra help to feel youthful and look radiant , then botox injections can really give your face a boost. Easing lines and wrinkles will make the face look relaxed and refreshed. Botox is the best anti-wrinkle treatment available, that takes only minutes to inject, and can take away years from your face.
