Ease Nasolabial Grooves With Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Everyone who looks at our face can easily see any obvious signs of ageing, after all, it's not a feature we can hide. How fast these signs of ageing happen varies from one person to another. There are lots of things which contribute to these changes, such as; our lifestyle, environment, genetics and our gender.

Dermal filler injections can improve lots of specific areas from ageing signs, with treatments such as; non-surgical nose-jobs, replacing volume in the chin, cheeks and tear troughs, plumping up thinning lips and improving the deep folds of laughter lines.

Deep nasolabial folds, or laugh lines are the large visible lines that run from the nose to the side of the mouth. Genetics and our facial structure partially decide how prominent and deep the nasolabial folds will get, and repeated facial expressions and the ageing process will exaggerate the lines, making them deeper.

The natural ageing process and the effects of excessive sun exposure can result in the face losing collagen, fat and elasticity, causing the face to sag and lose volume. Losing weight can also affect the face and sometimes not in a good way, as gravity can pull down fat and soft tissue which usually sits high up on the cheeks, causing sagging cheeks. This combined with the effects of gravity can cause nasolabial lines to appear. The smile lines go from the mouth to the nose, and these folds separate the cheeks from the upper lip, generally becoming more pronounced the older we get.

Cosmetic treatments can treat facial ageing in many ways by using effective treatments. Dermal fillers can successfully restore areas of lost volume and injections of hyaluronic acid based filler will also smooth out lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers are highly effective in correcting nasolabial lines. The filler adds extra fullness to where wrinkles and folds are most prominent, smoothing out lines and restoring and enhancing the facial shape. Fillers will improve your looks, enhance your profile and leave your face with a natural expression. They are a non-invasive, cost-effective alternative to invasive cosmetic surgery and the correction or softening of these folds gives your face a youthful fresher look.

Any side effects, such as redness, swelling, or bruising from the injections, are usually instantaneous, but quickly subside, and a numbing cream can easily be applied to minimise any discomfort. Injectable dermal fillers are an ideal treatment to temporarily improve fine lines, wrinkles and deep-set folds such as nasolabial lines as they can thicken the skin, reduce the lines and also restore and moisturise the skin.

Treatments For Rejunenating The Ageing Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Normal signs of ageing on the face can include fine lines and wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, and unfortunately these issues will only intensify over time. Our skin naturally starts to lose elasticity  causing wrinkles, and things like repeated facial expressions, sun exposure, smoking, poor diet and dehydration will all speed up the natural ageing process, causing wrinkles.

Our skin ages in different ways:
  • Wrinkles -  Skin loses some of its elasticity causing wrinkles and fine lines. As it becomes thinner and drier, we will notice new wrinkles appearing around the neck, eyes, forehead, mouth and lips. Repetitive movements of the face over the years are usually the cause of these lines.
  • Frown lines - Frequent frowning when concentrating or worrying, can cause deep forehead furrows.
  • Eye Lines - Wrinkles appear at the outer corners of the eyes, caused by squinting in sunshine, reading in dim light, or looking at the computer screen.
  • Mouth lines - Fine lines around the edges of the mouth and lips are usually caused by smoking, pursing the lips or puckering up the lips when drinking through a straw.

Loss of volume
A dramatic change to the skin as we reach our thirties, is the loss of collagen. Collagen production starts to diminish over time, leaving fine lines and wrinkles and a loss of skin elasticity. We'll lose plumpness in the face because of fat and tissue loss under the skin. This lost volume can make the face look gaunt and hollow, especially around the eyes and the cheeks.

The natural rate of ageing causes some of our wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, but there are some characteristics of ageing which are completely out of our control; like genetics, anatomy and gravity. However, there are cosmetic procedures available which can help to slow down the ageing process.

Profhilo - This contains pure hyaluronic acid with no added chemicals, making it an extremely safe cosmetic treatment, with no risks. The slow release of hyaluronic acid injections stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin, which results in significant improvement of tissue quality. Profhilo is an injectable treatment that can both prevent and correct the signs of ageing.

Botox - The signs of facial ageing can easily be reduced or eliminated by botox treatment, resulting in a natural and more youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers - The precise placing of fillers gives a natural filled out appearance to the hollows in sunken cheeks and under eye troughs and softens deep grooves, giving you dramatic results.

Smooth Away Lines & Wrinkles With Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We all want to look as young as we can, for as long as we can. How we look after our skin and our lifestyle choices can all play a part in delaying the signs of ageing, although we do have to accept that ageing is both natural, and inevitable. Lines on the face are a sign of stress or age, but you can easily smooth away the fine lines and wrinkles with a quick five-minute treatment. It will leave you looking completely fresh, less worried and more awake. Subtly administered botox injections will give your face a soft natural, refreshed look.

The ageing process shows on our face, and this happens for a variety of reasons:
* Time naturally takes its toll
* Exposure to the sun breaks down elastin fibres
* Hormonal changes cause a loss of density on the skin
* Smokers tend to have more wrinkles than non-smokers
* Repetitive muscle movement can cause deep set lines and wrinkles

Wrinkles are the folds and creases that appear on the skin and are a natural part of the ageing process. The primary cause of facial wrinkles are the repetitive movements used when we make our facial expressions, and over time they form crows feet, frown lines and marionette lines. Lines around the mouth and lips start to appear when we pucker up the lips when smoking. The skin is also exposed every day to the elements; the wind, sun, dirt, and pollution, and it's inevitable that this will eventually affect the skin in noticeable ways.
  • Fine lines are shallow and they're found in areas of facial movement, such as the eyes, mouth and upper lip, from laughing, smoking, eating and squinting.
  • Wrinkles are depressions in the surface of the skin which can look either coarse or fine.
  • Deep set wrinkles are expression lines and they're usually found on the forehead, the corners of the eyes and vertical lines on the side of the mouth, usually caused by frowning, raising your eyebrows and smiling.

Botox is an effective anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle treatment. The treatment is safe, affordable, convenient and fast, and the procedure is usually completed within 15 or 20 minutes. The results will last for at least 3 or 4 months. The botox injections are non-invasive and are very popular, offering people of all ages a way to, not only reduce the wrinkles, but also have strategically placed injections as a preventive measure to stop new wrinkles forming.

Safe Botox & Fillers at Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

These days cosmetic treatments are becoming more affordable and easily accessible, with more people turning to botox and dermal fillers in a bid to look younger. Botox is the number one cosmetic procedure in the world, and number two is dermal fillers and the variety of procedures on offer is sometimes overwhelming, with the beauty industry offering lots of injectable treatments, but how do you know if what you're buying is the right product, or if it's being carried out by the right person?

Whether you're checking out the reputation of a clinic online, on internet forums or by word of mouth, always do your research and check out all the information on the place where you're having your treatment.
  • Check out the qualifications of the practitioner.
  • To avoid infections, always make sure the place you go to have treatment is clean.
  • Avoid gimmicks, like: two for the price of one or introduce a friend and get a discount.
  • Don't just choose the cheapest. Remember, you are having products injected into your face, so choose wisely.
  • Check out their before and after photos and see what results they achieve.

You need to have treatment somewhere that's safe, where there's a qualified practitioner who should have a good knowledge about facial anatomy and skin. It's advisable that healthcare professionals, such as doctors, dentists and nurses, who have had the correct training in these treatments carry out these cosmetic treatments, especially any injectable treatments.

Botox
Botox eases the lines and wrinkles that appear on the face through repetitive facial movements that etch them into the face. Too much botox will result in a frozen, plastic looking face, but that only happens when too much of the product gets injected.  Small amounts of botox will smooth out the lines, but leave you with natural, relaxed facial expressions.

Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers add volume to the cheeks, the tear troughs under the eyes, at the jaw line and plump up the lips. Again, people worry about trout pouts and puffy pillow faces that happen when too much filler gets injected, and the same rule applies, as with the botox, let your doctor know what you do and don't want during the consultation.

Continuity is always a good idea. If you are having botox, fillers or any treatment where you go back for top up's and more treatments, it's always wise to use the same practitioner who knows your face, knows what you want and what you are hoping to achieve.

Get A Younger Smoother Face With Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

All of us want to look as young as we can for as long as we can, but unfortunately ageing is inevitable, so when signs of ageing like lines and wrinkles start to appear, then this is the time to start thinking of treatments to keep them at bay. Botox is a quick, pain-free treatment which will help give you a younger, smoother, line-free face.
The areas where the skin is constantly exposed to the elements, such as the face, neck, arms and hands are all more likely to become wrinkled. Most of our wrinkles are the result of ageing and each year thousands of people turn to botox, with treatment to the face; creases on the forehead, smile lines, crows feet and the deep furrows between the eyebrows being the most popular areas to have treated.
Botox brow lift
Botox is now one of the most common cosmetic treatments in the UK and a good practitioner will
customise the treatment specifically for each person's face to give it a soft natural look, because the results can look stunning, and yet remain subtle. Botox is a safe and effective way to reduce and smooth out wrinkles, worry lines across the forehead and the vertical lines between the eyebrows, and help to soften the look of these dynamic facial lines and wrinkles which appear over time, because of repeated smiling and frowning movements.
A fully trained cosmetic practitioner can perform careful, precise injections, which will give your face a fresh, healthy and subtle appearance and not a startled and expressionless look. Botox is injected using a disposable syringe which has a very fine needle, and tiny amounts are precisely injected into several specific areas on the face, which are chosen by carefully examining the movements of your facial muscles. The treatment is almost painless and doesn't need any pain relief.
Botox has many benefits:
  • Prevention of further wrinkles by relaxing the muscles
  • It's a non-invasive, quick treatment with minimal discomfort
A botox injection lessens the muscle activity which cause wrinkles to form on the face. It blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles, relaxing and softening the muscles in the problem area. Gaining results from botox is a gradual process, taking around twenty-four hours to begin taking effect and up to two weeks for the full effect to show. The results can last from three to five months and we recommend repeat treatments three to four times a year.
At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we always attempt to keep the botox injection experience gentle and pain-free, putting you at ease and supporting you through the experience.

Ease Lines & Wrinkles With Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We all get older, this is just a simple fact of life, however, there are some people who unfortunately feel they look older than their years. Wrinkles are mostly associated with older people but they can appear at any age and it's not unusual for those in their late twenties or early thirties to seek wrinkle treatments.

Botox is not just for treating the wrinkles of older people, lots of younger clients are now having this anti-ageing treatment as a prevention method. If you stop the beginnings of a wrinkle and keep having maintenance treatments, you'll stay looking more youthful for longer. We don't have to age gracefully anymore as botox injections are an affordable treatment used by both women and men.

The face is the place where age shows up first, and wrinkle fillers are ideal for those who want a youthful appearance without having to do anything too drastic. Botox is non-invasive and can give an incredibly natural result, dramatically reducing wrinkles and giving a smoother, less tired-looking face. Botox cosmetic treatments can help a range of problem areas.

The upper face is the main area of Botox treatments:
  • Crow's-feet at the sides of the eyes.
  • Frown lines.
  • Forehead creases.

One of the most common things people want to treat are dynamic wrinkles which result through muscle contractions. The frown lines across the forehead, and the two vertical lines between the eyebrows form through the repeated movement of facial muscles when we express ourselves.

Eventually as the skin ages, its elastic fibres fracture, the collagen in the skin breaks down and the skin takes longer to recover from being creased. The lines begin to bed into the skin and no longer disappear, even when the face is at rest. The muscles on the forehead cause the skin to crinkle up when we are concentrating, looking into the sun, speaking expressively and many other things that happen daily. In fact, every time you scowl, squint, glare or grimace, these lines are slowing starting to develop.

Botox treatments have no recovery period, so you will be able to return to your regular activities immediately, with no discomfort. Any pain associated with botox injections is minimal but having a topical anaesthetic cream applied before treatment can help with any potential discomfort. Botox treatment takes just minutes to perform and the results last anywhere from 3-6 months.

Erase Laugh Lines with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Facial expressions are a huge part of our life, and the more mobile the expressions we use when we talk, smile or laugh, the greater chance that deep laugh lines will develop at a younger age. People often feel that laugh lines will make their face look fatigued or drawn, but it's when these lines become more pronounced, that they become a problem.

Nasolabial folds are the two folds of skin that run from each side of the nose to the corners of the mouth. They are natural facial contours which are commonly known as smile lines or laughter lines. Nasolabial folds can appear on the face of people as early as their 20's and they can be relatively fine, maybe just a fine wrinkle or become a deep fold, to the point that the skin above seems to hang over it.

There are several ways of reducing nasolabial folds, from topical treatments, to more invasive courses of action.
  • Creams and Serums - Using topical creams and serums may only be a short-term solution. Most of these creams contain ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid which improves the way the skin retains moisture, tretinoin which slows the breakdown of collagen, and exfoliants which help remove dead skin cells.
  • Cosmetic Surgery - Surgery is an expensive but long-term solution for reducing nasolabial folds, but it's an invasive surgical procedure and it's not a decision to take lightly. A facelift can reduce laugh lines, as the tightening of the skin makes the folds more shallow and less noticeable.
  • Dermal Fillers - Fillers offer the most effective non-surgical method for treating these lines. Non-permanent dermal fillers present a non-invasive and cost-effective means of treatment.
These facial lines are part of our normal anatomy and they can develop at any age and in fact, many of us grow up with a slight hint of laugh lines, but with time as we grow older, the fold can seem deeper as our skin loses volume. As we age we lose the elasticity in the skin, and our facial muscles weaken, making this area one of the first places to sag.

Dermal filler treatment usually takes 30-45 minutes and a local anaesthetic injection is usually given to minimise any potential discomfort. Correction or softening of these folds gives you a youthful fresher look and the results achieved by using dermal fillers for treating the nasolabial folds are stunning and natural looking.

Anti-Ageing Botox & Filler Treatments - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

It seems that growing old gracefully is no longer an option for lots of women, and some men, and more of us are opting to get some help to slow down the signs of ageing. These days, we are always reading about celebrities having cosmetic treatments, and we find it completely acceptable. People decide they want smoother skin or plumper lips, and they see no reason to wait. There's quite a number of non-surgical anti-ageing treatments available, and the most popular of these are botox and dermal fillers.

Dr Bassi - Cosmetic doctor at Selston Cosmetic Clinic
At a free consultation at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, you and your doctor will discuss the common side effects that might happen after a treatment, and it's here that you can ask any questions you might have. The doctor will take a full assessment of your facial anatomy, discuss which parts of your face concern you and what you expect the outcome to look like, and then he will tailor a treatment plan that is specific to you.

Cosmetic injections should only be performed by medically qualified doctors, nurses or practitioners, in an appropriate sanitised medical setting, using equipment that's been sterilised. If you've never had any injectable treatments before, you might feel a bit apprehensive of needle injections and having chemicals put into your body, but it's normal to feel anxious about what to expect. It's inevitable that you will feel a mild discomfort with a needle injection, but this needle is so fine, that it even amazes those with a fear of needles at the small amount of discomfort they feel.

Anti-ageing injectable treatments help to make skin look smoother, add volume to a face that has lost its fat and give symmetry and volume to the lip area. Redness, mild swelling a bit of bruising around the injection area after your treatment is normal, and usually goes down within a couple of days.

Botox - The results of botox injections can give you a look as dramatic, or as subtle as you want, but the best results are those which leave you with a natural look that makes you look refreshed and rejuvenated, and the best results will leave you looking well rested, instead of overdone or fake. We all have different sensitivities and some of us are more tolerant to pain than others, but botox requires just a simple injection with an extremely fine needle, so most people find the experience only mildly discomforting.

Fillers - The main constituent in dermal filler is hyalauronic acid, which is a substance naturally present in the body, which gets injected into different areas on the face, to restore lost volume to enhance the cheeks, chin, lips or nose, and to treat deeper lines, wrinkles, folds and creases. To make the procedure more comfortable, anaesthetic cream can help with any discomfort. During filler treatment, the skin may become slightly red and swollen but this will tend to settle after a few hours.

Lip fillers - Nobody's lips are the same, so when discussing it with the doctor at your consultation, they will help you decide the right amount of filler needed, and which particular lip shape or size will suit your face. Applying topical anaesthetic cream before your treatment will numb the lips, making the procedure more comfortable. The procedure only takes a few minutes, and any discomfort is minimal for most people.

Rejuventate Your Face With Botox Injections - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Facial wrinkles and frown lines can make you look and feel older than you are, and the deepening lines between your eyebrows and at the corners of your eyes can make you seem angry or sad. If you would like to look refreshed and have more self-confidence, then botox injections can make your face look and feel more refreshed and rejuvenated.
Lines that settle on the face are often called expression lines, and they develop over time as we age. We express ourselves by laughing, smiling, squinting, frowning and even talking, causing the fine lines around eyes and forehead to deepen. Smoking, stress and sun exposure will also make the wrinkles etch deeper into the skin. Botox is a safe, fast and simple solution for reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
Botox injections are one of the most popular performed non-surgical cosmetic procedures. The results of botox treatment last between three and four months, then they gradually start to fade, but if you have repeated treatment, the results might last longer.

Botox benefits include:
Softer, smoother looking skin
Relaxes frown and stress lines
Reduces lines around the lips
Opens up the eyes
Will give you a refreshed appearance
Eliminates crow’s feet around the eyes
Safe, quick, injectable treatment
Proven results
No recovery time
Botox treatment is usually painless, but some clients might experience minimal discomfort. At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we can minimise any potential discomfort by applying a topical anaesthetic before your treatment, and we try to keep the botox injection gentle and pain-free. Our trained team will put you at ease and give you support throughout the experience.
A very fine needle injects a tiny amount of botox into the facial muscles where you want to erase wrinkles and fine lines. The injections are quick and you might experience a small pin prick feeling and it might be necessary to have multiple injections, depending on the depth of the facial lines. You can drive yourself to and from your clinic appointment and immediately following botox treatment you can return to your regular activities.
You will usually see the effects of your botox treatment within a few days, and you’ll see more improvement after two weeks when your muscles will be inactive. Your skin will soften and the fine lines and wrinkles will become less visible, giving your face a firmer, more youthful appearance. We use subtly administered botox treatment to control how we look when we age, but this treatment isn't about making you look younger, but more about making you look fresher and rejuvenated.

Fill in Hollow Tear Troughs With Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Over time, our skin can start to look tired and lose its youthful glow. The reason the skin loses its firmness and starts to sag is mainly down to ageing, although too much sun, smoking, weight loss and genetics can also cause sagging and wrinkling.

No amount of eye creams and serums will help with eye hollows or dark circles, and usually corrective make-up is the only thing that will help to disguise them. Dermal fillers are very effective for filling in folds on the face or hollows and dark circles under the eyes, and a simple injection of filler can easily be used to fill in the tear troughs, giving an instant plumping effect of the hollows.

  • There are many reasons why we get sunken eyes:
  • Ageing
  • Lack of sleep
  • Tension and stress
  • Genetics
  • Bad food habits and indigestion
  • Not enough hydration
  • Too much caffeine intake
  • Smoking

As we age, the body loses fat and bone density, especially in the face. The supporting structures that hold everything together start to decline, and the skin will lose collagen and become thinner and more translucent. Losing excess weight can make us look fitter and healthier, but it can also age us. A dramatic loss of fat in the face can hollow out the cheeks and eyes, and cause the blood vessels around the eyes to become more visible and transparent.

By the time we reach our mid twenties, our body stops producing collagen and elastin, which are the two proteins that work together to keep our tissue firm and the skin elastic. Once the existing collagen in the body starts to break down, the body will start to show typical signs of ageing, such as sunken cheeks, tear troughs, deep lines and wrinkles.

The dermal filler we use at Selston Cosmetic Clinic is Teosyal Redensity II, which fills out the hollows and lines under the eyes, whilst helping to mask the dark circles with its light reflecting technology. This is a hylauronic acid based filler, which is a substance that naturally occurs in the body, and is ideal for treating tear troughs.

Allergic reactions to dermal fillers are nearly unheard of, and any infections or side effects are extremely rare, as long as a trained practitioner with specialist training injects the filler. Sometimes there might be temporary side effects such as redness, slight bruising or swelling and this will happen immediately after the injection treatment, but these will disappear after a couple of days.

Reduce Laughter Lines (Nasolabial) With Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The rate of ageing varies from one person to another, and there are many factors that contribute to these changes; our lifestyle, environment,  genetics and gender. Dermal fillers can improve lots of specific areas from the signs of ageing, with treatments such as; non-surgical nose-jobs, replacing volume in the chin, cheeks and tear troughs, plumping up thin lips and improving the deep folds of  laughter lines, which are also known as nasolabial and marionette lines.

Genetics and facial structure partially decide how prominent and deep the nasolabial folds will get. As ageing progresses, smiling makes the nasolabial lines more exaggerated, and they get deeper, as with age the face loses collagen and fat, causing the face to sag. Deep smile folds, also known as nasolabial folds, are the large visible lines running from each side of the nose to the side of the mouth.

The face shows all of its signs of ageing to everyone who looks at it, after all, it's not exactly a feature we can hide. Cosmetic treatments can treat facial ageing in many ways and one of the most effective treatments, is to restore the loss of facial volume with dermal fillers. The filler adds extra fullness to where wrinkles are most prominent, smoothing out lines and restoring and enhancing the facial shape.

The skin loses elasticity because of the natural ageing process and the effects of sun exposure. Losing weight also affects the face, sometimes not in a good way, as it can cause the fat and other soft tissue that usually sits high up on the cheeks, to be pulled down by gravity. The sagging cheeks and volume loss, combined with the effects of gravity can cause nasolabial lines to appear. These smile, or laughter lines, form from the mouth to the nose, and these folds separate the cheeks from the upper lip, generally becoming more pronounced as we get older.

Dermal fillers are highly effective in correcting nasolabial lines.
  • Most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that's naturally found in the human body, that absorbs moisture and keeps the skin hydrated.
  • There are many types of hyaluronic acid based fillers available and treatment results can last between 6-18 months.
  • Having the filler treatments performed by an experienced practitioner will make sure that any infections and allergic reactions rarely happen.
  • Any side effects, such as redness, swelling, or bruising from the injections, are usually instantaneous, but quickly subside.
  • A numbing cream can easily be applied to minimise any discomfort, and there's only minimal downtime.
Injectable dermal fillers are an ideal treatment to temporarily improve fine lines, wrinkles and deep-set folds such as nasolabial lines; they can thicken the skin, reducing the lines and they'll also restore and moisturise the skin.

Ageing Skin - Why & How It Ages - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

As they are always exposed, the face and hands are the first parts of our body to show signs of ageing. Whether they are facing the cold, wind and rain of winter or the heat of the sun in summer, all types of weather can affect the skin. And it's not just the weather; the pollution and car fumes in the towns can also play a part in ageing our skin.

Dermaroller treatment to rejuvenate skin

Lots of things accelerate the ageing process of the skin:

Stress - signs of stress can show up on your skin, hair and nails
Lack of sleep - those who sleep badly have more fine lines, uneven skin colour and slackening of skin.
Sun damage - the sun is responsible for most visible signs of skin ageing. UVA rays emitted by the sun can cause pigmentation, reduced skin elasticity through collagen and elastin breakdown and skin-texture quality.
Smoking - exposure to smoke, and even second-hand smoke, can cause damage to the elastin fibres causing sagging to the skin, age spots and lines and wrinkles around the mouth.
Pollution and the environment - can cause fine lines, dark circles under the eyes, dehydrated skin, which can leave the skin dry, rough and itchy, and the city dust and dirt clogging up the pores and making the skin look lifeless and dull.

Cheeks, jawline and chin refinement using dermal filler

As a result of normal ageing, one of the main things we notice, is loss of volume. As we age our  facial fat is generally lost, causing the soft tissues to become thinner. Collagen; the dense fibres for strength, and elastin; the elastic fibres for suppleness will become less firm and elastic as we get older, allowing the soft tissue in the face to sag. This results in the face looking thinner and facial bones looking more prominent.

Dermal filler to replace lost volume

  • The cheeks - there's less production of collagen and elastin meaning that the ageing skin is vulnerable to the effects of gravity and can sag, resulting in jowls and bags under the eyes.
  • The mouth -  laugh lines deepen and the fine lines that surround the lips, known as smokers lines appear, and we lose definition resulting in the dreaded lipstick bleed.
  • The eyes - upper and lower, begin to sag, creating dark circles and tear troughs.
  • Facial thread veins - The blood vessels in ageing thin skin are more likely to break, bruise or become permanently dilated, causing thread veins.
  • Age spots - this occurs when the pigment cells in the skin increase in certain areas and cluster together, resulting in sun spots, freckles or liver spots.
  • The forehead - gains wrinkles and furrows through repetitive facial expression movements, made over time.
  • The skin - generalised wrinkling of the face may occur because of thinning ageing skin, and reduced skin cell turnover will result in thinner crepe like skin. More mature skin, also has fewer sweat and oil glands, therefore it is prone to dryness.
At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we offer the latest cutting edge, safe and effective cosmetic medical treatments for anti-ageing of the skin. A little wrinkle, a bit of sagging or dark circle might be making you look older than you really are, but we've got an experienced and fully trained aesthetic team to help you choose from a variety of treatments, and recommend which treatment is suitable for your concerns.

Men Also Benefit From Botox & Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

First impressions count, and whether we like it or not the people we meet will make snap decisions about us based mostly on our looks, and looking the best we can, gives men and women a big boost in confidence. It isn't just women who want to look their best and these days men are also paying extra attention to their appearance. When it comes to getting older, we tend to think that men improve with age more than women, believing that men grow older in a distinguished silver-fox way.

Dermal filler treatment for tear trough hollows
Old age comes to us all, but whatever your age it's never too early to start looking after your skin and maintaining your appearance, and there are many products you can buy which promise to slow down or reverse the signs of ageing. Of course older, mature men can, and indeed do, look fantastic and sometimes that's because they've had a bit of help along the way. Anti-ageing treatments for men have become increasingly common place and the numbers of men having treatments are on the rise.

Botox treatment on forehead lines
The popularity for cosmetic procedures isn't just restricted to younger men; men of all ages are now seeking cosmetic treatments to improve their looks, slow down the signs of ageing and give them healthy looking skin. The number of men undergoing cosmetic treatments has dramatically risen in the last decade and some men now spend as much time caring for their appearance as their female counterparts.

Microdermabrasion treatment
Men have the same basic concerns about ageing as women. They want to soften the signs of ageing and look as good possible for their age, and at Selston Cosmetic Clinic we offer many subtle, undetectable treatments such as botox, dermal fillers and microdermabrasion.

Men seek anti-ageing treatments for certain things:

Lines and wrinkles. Botox can reduce and soften the wrinkles that give an angry or overly serious expression that are present, even on the relaxed face. Frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal lines on the forehead and crow’s feet can all benefit from botox injections.

A tired appearance. Men dislike looking tired despite getting adequate sleep. Bags, dark circles and hollows beneath the eyes (tear troughs) are particular concerns, which dermal fillers can rectify. Dermal fillers can also soften deep lines and furrows on the face.

Pigmentation. Age spots, mild scars, fine lines and sun damage are signs of ageing that can easily be treated with microdermabrasion, which can dramatically improve the skin’s texture and tone.

Combat Facial Ageing With Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

A youthful face has smooth skin, the ability to reflect light and has fullness in the upper areas, but over time, years of sun exposure, pollution and everyday stress will affect our appearance. The body produces less of the natural substances that's needed to keep our skin firm and well hydrated, which all cause facial lines and wrinkles to appear.

Dermal filler used on the nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)

We use dermal fillers to fill depressions on the face, hands and body. Injectable fillers are the perfect way to enhance your facial features ,because they can help to fill shallow contours, plump up thin lips, soften folds and wrinkles on the face and improve scars and other facial defects.

The ageing process begins when we are about 25 and over the next decade:
  • Skin cell turnover slows down and dead cells remain on the skin creating a dull appearance
  • Early wrinkles can begin to appear around the eyes
  • The lines from the nose to mouth become more prominent
  • The jaw line begins to soften
From age 35 to 45
  • Lines and wrinkles will deepen, and frown lines can give your face an angry look
  • Your skin type may change, from oily to dry or vice versa
  • Pigmentation changes on your skin
From age 45 onwards
  • In menopause, oestrogen levels decrease, causing collagen to deplete
  • Volume loss
  • Skin can become dry and dehydrated
  • Pigmentation will become more visible
  • The face begins to drop
  • The jaw area loses definition
Dermal filler used on the tear troughs (under eye hollows)

Wrinkles and creases on the face are part of the ageing process and they begin to appear as the collagen and elastin fibres break down, but they can also result from excessive frowning, smiling or squinting.

Dynamic lines are when lines, wrinkles and other signs of ageing occur on the face when it's in motion. They're also called expression lines; laughter lines, frown lines and bunny lines, which are harmless at a younger age but will often contribute to where the deeper set folds and wrinkles will remain in later life.

Static lines are noticable wrinkles, lines, sagging and folds which are present on the resting face; sagging jaw line, nasal folds, sunken cheeks and horizontal forehead lines. These lines, if left untreated, will stay on the face and will progressively worsen.

Dermal Fillers are a temporary solution, as the hyaluronic acid in the fillers is naturally degradable, and is naturally broken down and eventually absorbed by the body. Fillers are effective at restoring hydration to the skin, smoothing lines and wrinkles and can also restore and enhance the facial shape. The fillers last around 9 to 12 months, although this may vary from person to person, depending on their lifestyle and which part of the face gets injected.

Botox Injections to Relax & Soften the Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

One of the main things that makes people nervous of having botox injections, is the thought of leaving the clinic with a mask like expression on their face. But botox doesn't have to leave you with a frozen looking face, because when it's done properly, it can make you looking younger, fresher and more vibrant. Tell-tale signs of badly injected botox, are a smooth and shiny forehead, or a face that doesn't move when you laugh or cry.

Once you have decided to have botox treatment, you must find a qualified and experienced doctor. A good cosmetic doctor must have a good knowledge about facial anatomy and skin.

We built the Selston Cosmetic Clinic on the strong foundation of Dr Bassi's 26 years of experience in medicine;
  • Dr Bassi has been a part of the aesthetic industry for over 10 years and has a keen passion for human aesthetics.

  • Dr Bassi tailors his facial remodelling treatments to suit each patient, using artistry and scientific principles of beauty.

Before having any botox treatment, a consultation with Dr Bassi will be necessary. At the free consultation, he'll be able to tell you of the benefits, as well as any potential risks that might be associated with botox treatment. At the clinic we have a high client satisfaction rate and have many returning clients. Selston Cosmetic Clinic prides itself on delivering a professional, cost-effective service, which is well received by our clients.

The furrows that develop between the brows can give you an expression of intense concentration or even make you look angry. Relaxing these wrinkles will give your face a softer, more relaxed expression. A small amount of botox gets injected into the muscle that has created the wrinkle, and this results in the muscle relaxing, which softens the look of the wrinkles.

Botox is most commonly used to reduce frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead, crow’s feet or laughter-lines. Botox treatment isn't just about making you look more youthful, but more about making you look fresher and rejuvenated.
