Treatments For Rejunenating The Ageing Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Normal signs of ageing on the face can include fine lines and wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, and unfortunately these issues will only intensify over time. Our skin naturally starts to lose elasticity  causing wrinkles, and things like repeated facial expressions, sun exposure, smoking, poor diet and dehydration will all speed up the natural ageing process, causing wrinkles.

Our skin ages in different ways:
  • Wrinkles -  Skin loses some of its elasticity causing wrinkles and fine lines. As it becomes thinner and drier, we will notice new wrinkles appearing around the neck, eyes, forehead, mouth and lips. Repetitive movements of the face over the years are usually the cause of these lines.
  • Frown lines - Frequent frowning when concentrating or worrying, can cause deep forehead furrows.
  • Eye Lines - Wrinkles appear at the outer corners of the eyes, caused by squinting in sunshine, reading in dim light, or looking at the computer screen.
  • Mouth lines - Fine lines around the edges of the mouth and lips are usually caused by smoking, pursing the lips or puckering up the lips when drinking through a straw.

Loss of volume
A dramatic change to the skin as we reach our thirties, is the loss of collagen. Collagen production starts to diminish over time, leaving fine lines and wrinkles and a loss of skin elasticity. We'll lose plumpness in the face because of fat and tissue loss under the skin. This lost volume can make the face look gaunt and hollow, especially around the eyes and the cheeks.

The natural rate of ageing causes some of our wrinkles, sagging and volume loss, but there are some characteristics of ageing which are completely out of our control; like genetics, anatomy and gravity. However, there are cosmetic procedures available which can help to slow down the ageing process.

Profhilo - This contains pure hyaluronic acid with no added chemicals, making it an extremely safe cosmetic treatment, with no risks. The slow release of hyaluronic acid injections stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin, which results in significant improvement of tissue quality. Profhilo is an injectable treatment that can both prevent and correct the signs of ageing.

Botox - The signs of facial ageing can easily be reduced or eliminated by botox treatment, resulting in a natural and more youthful appearance.

Dermal fillers - The precise placing of fillers gives a natural filled out appearance to the hollows in sunken cheeks and under eye troughs and softens deep grooves, giving you dramatic results.

Botox & Filler for a Liquid Face Lift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Unfortunately we'll all get older, and when we do we'll notice our face developing fine lines and wrinkles. Sagging facial skin will make us look tired, and if we lose volume in our face we'll also start to look gaunt. Many people think that invasive face lift surgery is the solution to correct these effects of facial ageing, however there's another option. Instead of going under the knife for a surgical procedure, many people find they'll get fantastic results from a non-surgical procedure such as the liquid face lift.

A liquid face lift is a cosmetic procedure where a combination of injected botox and fillers freshen the face by softening lines and wrinkles and adding volume to the face. When it's strategically placed, botox can give you an eye lift and the dermal filler, when injected into sunken, hollow cheeks will add volume to the face.

Those who can benefit are:
  • Clients who aren't quite ready, or who are reluctant to have invasive surgery.
  • Those who have slight sagging of the jowls.
  • Clients who have lost volume in the cheeks.
  • People who have lost volume under the eyes.
Botox and filler can also be injected into the temples, lower eyelids, cheeks and jaw-line to create more youthful facial contours. Using local anaesthetic on the face, means any pain is minimal and unlike a surgical face lift, clients can go back to work the following day.

A liquid face lift treatment would benefit those who want to rejuvenate and refresh their face, making it appear more youthful. It's ideal for those who have lost volume to the face, especially in the cheek and mouth areas. With precision placement of the dermal filler to give tissue support and volume to areas which have sagged, along with strategic injections of botox to erase the fine lines, realistic goals of a refreshed younger looking face are achievable.

Benefits of a non-surgical procedure:
  • It's non-invasive, no stitches or cuts and no bleeding
  • Fast treatment time - 20 - 30 minutes
  • Quick recovery - minor swelling for a few days
  • It's affordable
  • Back to work - next day
  • Duration of results - up to 12 months
  • Anaesthetic - local
  • Results seen - immediate dramatic results
Having a liquid face lift is a minimal, swift procedure which can take five to seven years off of your facial appearance. It's possible to arrive and leave within an hour, having had a face lift without the need of a scalpel.

Facial Fillers Erase Wrinkles & Add Volume - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Hyaluronic acid, hydration and water retention in our body decreases as we get older causing our skin to lose its plumpness and begin to get drier. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that occurs in the body, it holds water, which hydrates and gives volume to the skin, but unfortunately as we age this production of hyaluronic acid starts to diminish.

Cheek enhancement using dermal fillers
For many reasons; maybe age, stress or weight loss, we might find that our face is beginning to look tired, drawn and gaunt. Skin on younger people looks firmer and plumper in comparison, thanks in part to collagen and hyaluronic acid. One of the ways we can combat the signs of getting older, is to replace the hyaluronic acid that is lost during the ageing process with dermal fillers. They create a naturally smoothed out appearance, fill in the fine lines and wrinkles and plump out the grooves and creases.

Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment to improve facial contours, fill out sunken cheeks, reduce wrinkles and fine lines and help people regain their former youthful looks. Before our late 30's, the skin should still keep it's natural contoured nature and volume, without too many wrinkles or sagging, which makes the process a better prospect for middle-aged skin. Although late nights, heavy drinking and smoking can speed up the signs of ageing, so it's possible to need dermal fillers at a younger age.

Dermal fillers on tear troughs
Placing the fillers in strategic places will:
  • Add volume to hollowed, gaunt, or sunken areas of the face.
  • Give a natural filled out appearance under the lower eyelids, correcting the hollowed eyed look.
  • Soften the deep grooves between the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
  • Add volume to the cheeks, improving the marionette lines from the mouth to the chin.
  • Jowl correction will give you a smooth jaw line.
  • Will gently thicken skin that has thinned, due to ageing.
  • Improve furrows, deep folds and creases.
  • Will plump up the apples of the cheeks and sculpt the cheek bones.
  • Lip enhancement will give better definition, reduce lipstick bleed, add volume and give a fuller appearance.
Dermal filler on lip lines
The effects of dermal fillers are instant. There's a small chance however, of slight bleeding where the needle enters the skin, and slight swelling or redness at the injection area, although this will go down very quickly and the use of an ice pack will speed up resolution.

A Non-Surgical Nose Job Can Make a Dramatic Difference - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Noses come in various shapes and sizes, depending on our cultural background, genetics or any fractures or imperfections caused through injury. Some people might be born with the perfect nose, whist others are desperately unhappy with theirs. Lots of people get embarrassed by their nose shape, thinking it's either too big, too small or has a bump on it. The nose is one of the first things that people tend to see when they first meet, and while some irregularities on the face can easily be hidden with make-up, there's not a lot we can do to change the nose, without having some help from the professionals.

Rhinoplasty is surgery that's done to repair the nose, change the shape, improve nasal breathing, or combinations of them all. Non-surgical nose jobs, where injections of dermal filler are strategically placed into the nose, are an alternative procedure available to those who want to improve their nose, without undergoing invasive surgery. The nose is in a prominent central place on the face, and a non-surgical nose job can make a dramatic difference in the facial appearance, leading to an increase in self-esteem and self-confidence.

The nose impacts on the balance and symmetry of your facial features, and reshaping can subtly enhance the contours of your nose and give it more definition.

Dermal fillers injected into the nose can:
  • Remove or smooth a hump or bump from the nose
  • Fill in dents or dips in the bridge
  • Straighten or raise an irregular bridge
  • Correct the size of the nose, to make it look bigger or smaller
  • Refine or reduce the nasal tip
  • Correct imperfections

Lots of people would like to improve their nose, either because they think it has a bend, or a hump in the ridge or maybe they don't like the tip. If you are not happy with the look of your nose, you can alter the way it looks. If you don't want to go the surgical route, then non-surgical treatments are very effective at changing the nose, which can result in a subtle change on the overall balance of your face.

A non-surgical nose job can't make a large nose smaller but it is ideally suited for refining the nose or correcting small areas, reshaping the tip, increasing the height of the bridge, creating shape and definition, adding balance and improving symmetry to your face.

Tips & Treatments for Ageing Skin / Botox & Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We can’t avoid ageing - it's part of life, but we don't have to like it! It begins with wrinkles, crow’s feet and sagging skin, and then we have to endure facial volume loss. We can still look youthful in our 40's, 50's and beyond, although it might take a bit more effort.

Lots of us aren't ready to look older, and the good news is that now, we can delay it. There are many cosmetic treatments we can have to help keep us looking younger, for longer and there are also some easy, everyday things we can do for ourselves.

Sun protection
To protect the skin from the sun, use a product with SPF in the ingredients and reapply throughout the day. Prevention is the key. The main cause of wrinkles, sun spots, pigmentation and many other signs of skin ageing is because of the UV rays from the sun. To further protect the skin, instead of getting a real suntan, try wearing fake-tan.

Facial expressions
To prevent lines and wrinkles you should try to stop pursing your lips, frowning and squinting. Be aware that all facial movement, when done repetitively, can cause frown lines and wrinkles to appear on the face.

Botox areas
Face exercises
The muscles in the face, just like any other muscle, will deteriorate as we get older. Doing facial exercises three to five times week will keep your facial muscles looking toned and this will to keep your face looking young and vibrant.

Exfoliate
Exfoliation is an important part of our beauty routine, as it's one of the best ways to renew the skin. When we exfoliate, it scrubs the face removing dead skin. It unclogs the pores and makes the skin more receptive to a moisturiser. Exfoliating once a week will improve the look and feel of your skin.

Teeth
When we first meet someone, the eyes and smile are the two features we immediately notice. The teeth help to hold the face and its muscles in place. Older people with false teeth usually have many wrinkles around the mouth and this is partly due to the lack of support for the muscles, when the false teeth come out at night.

Tech wrinkles
You should try to avoid looking downwards at your computer screen, as looking down can cause wrinkles. To help, you should keep your head held upwards, and place the computer screen at eye level, or lower your chair so you are looking up. The same applies when using your phone. Hold it straight in front of you instead of looking downwards.

Cleanse, tone and moisturize

We wash our face every morning and night to take away the sweat, dirt and pollution which collects on our face. If we don’t wash we'll get a build up of dead skin, make-up and dirt, leading to spots and dull skin. Toning helps to remove any left-over make-up or impurities that are still there after cleansing and helps to close and tighten the pores. Daily moisturizing helps to prevent water loss and will restore the skin’s moisture, enhancing its texture.

We should also take cosmetic treatments, such as botox and fillers into consideration when it comes to ageing skin. Even with all the care we give to our skin with anti-ageing products, it still won’t stop the eventual signs of getting old. Botox and fillers can relax the facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles and replace lost volume, making us look refreshed and rejuvenated.

Before & After - Non-Surgical Nose Jobs at Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby Mansfield & Chesterfield

There are many people who don't mind having an imperfect nose, and they're either happy in their own skin or they think it gives them character and individuality. Whether they got the uneven or bumpy nose through injury, or were simply born with it, they are quite happy. However, if an irregular nose doesn't make you happy, there are ways to correct and enhance it non-surgically, avoiding going under the surgeon's knife!

Before and after a non-surgical nose job at Selston Cosmetic Clinic
As our noses are one of the focal points of our face, it makes any bumps, dents and kinks highly visible. Whether you've had broken bones, sports injuries or were just born with a nose that's now causing you concern, the non-invasive nose job, or liquid nose job as it's sometimes called, can give you the nose you've always wanted.

This procedure can give you a more defined, contoured and symmetrical nose, and may help in minimising bumps or dents that spoil the natural outline of the nose. Nose enhancement procedures are a walk in, walk out treatment which are usually completed within the hour.

See the difference after filler treatment at Selston Cosmetic Clinic
  • Filler treatment for the nose takes about an hour
  • Reshaping and enhancing the nose is possible in multiple different ways
  • Filler can define the dorsal lines
  • Results are temporary and can easily be altered if desired
  • Relatively painless procedure, using topical numbing cream before the injection
  • Minimal swelling and normal activities resumed the next day
  • Costs less than surgical rhinoplasty
  • Results can last up to a year
By making the nose look straighter, dermal filler treatment can make the nose appear smaller. Filler is often used to increase the height and definition of the nasal bridge, and reshaping and contouring the nose. The nose job procedure uses the filler in the depressed nasal areas, it can lift the angle of the nose tip or smooth any bumps on the bridge. Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a cosmetic treatment only, it can't reduce the size of the nose, or correct problems with the nose, such as breathing difficulties.

A liquid nose job can make a big difference
There will only be minimal discomfort during the non-surgical nose job, as numbing cream gets applied before treatment, and most dermal fillers also contain a local anaesthetic, meaning you should only feel a light sting on your skin during the injection procedure.

Surgical rhinoplasty is reshaping the nose surgically and involves the using scalpels and anaesthetic and weeks of bruising and swelling after the surgery, but the safe alternative is a non-surgical nose job, achieved using dermal fillers and leaving you with minimal swelling and bruising and giving instant results. Dermal filler treatment is a lot less expensive than surgery, however the results, although they are long-lasting, are temporary and will eventually need repeating.

Dermal Fillers to Restore Volume & Enhance the Mouth Area - Notttingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Thinning lips and the appearance of fine lines around the mouth are unfortunately an inevitable result of ageing, but volume and structure can easily be recreated, using dermal fillers to restore your lips and give them a natural, youthful look. Injectable filler treatment can reverse the signs of ageing in the mouth area and will define, shape, support, soften and hydrate, they'll correct asymmetry and restore volume or just enhance the lips.

Sometimes when you look at yourself in the mirror you might notice changes happening to your lips:
  • Vertical lines - sometimes called smokers’ lines or lipstick lines
  • Volume loss - lack of fullness in the lips
  • Flat lips - less pronounced shape, and the cupid’s bow lacks definition
  • Lost definition - the border known as the vermillion border has less definition to the outside of the lips
  • Flatter philtrum ridge - lack of shape to the ridge between the upper lips and the nose
Some of us were born with naturally thin lips and some lips can become thinner as we grow older. As we age, our collagen production slows down, causing the lips to lose volume, and thin lips can make you look less vibrant and older than you are, but dermal fillers will give you the luscious lips you are after. So whether you’ve always had small thin lips or they have become that way with age, dermal fillers can restore them.

Lots of us are unhappy with the lack of volume in our lips; wanting more volume, a better shape, to  define the border and to have more definition on the cupid’s bow. Dermal fillers are a perfect cosmetic treatment to make them full again. A good cosmetic doctor will give you natural-looking results; plump, shapely and youthful, without them looking like they've had any treatment. The same dermal fillers injected to add volume, are also used to shape the lips, and these treatments are often done in the same procedure.

Lip Lines
These are sometimes called the lipstick lines, and they're the fine vertical wrinkles that develop just above the lips. These lines show up when we purse our mouth, while smoking or drinking through straws, but as we get older, they begin to become a more permanent fixture. Light botox treatment is often used to treat these pucker lines

Smile Lines
These are also known as nasolabial folds, laugh lines or parentheses, and they're the wrinkles that run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Dermal fillers are a great option for smoothing these lines away

Marionette Lines
These lines run from the corners of the mouth to the chin and are similar to smile lines. Dermal filler corrects these lines.

Dermal fillers will give your lips volume and definition, and the injections are completely controlled, letting you choose if you want a subtle, in-between or more dramatic look. There are lots we can do to prevent and to improve the signs of ageing, leaving you happy to enjoy younger looking, plumper lips for longer.

Straighten A Bumpy Or Crooked Nose With Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Lots of people dislike the shape of their nose, but unfortunately it's such a prominent feature on our face, and one that's difficult to hide. An uneven, bumpy nose can affect your self-esteem, especially when you have your photograph taken and especially when the photos show your face in profile.

The reasons we get a bumpy nose are either:

Genetic - A hook or a bumpy nose is one of many dominant traits that we might inherit from our parents, whether it's a nose that's large, hooked or bumpy, or a nose that just isn’t quite symmetrical.

Injury - A broken nose might not always heal properly and can leave you with a crooked nose. After a nasal trauma, the formation of calcium deposits and bone growth in the area might be injured, forming a dorsal bump, or make an existing bump seem even more prominent.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a procedure which involves reshaping or altering the nose, using injectable fillers. Sometimes known as liquid nose jobs, these non-surgical treatments involve strategically placed fillers which can change your nose's appearance if you're unhappy with the shape, or maybe you have an unattractive bump, depression or asymmetry.

Dermal filler treatment  is ideal for those who have:
  • A slightly crooked nose
  • A nose that needs building up
  • A hook shaped nose that needs straightening
  • A mild to moderate bump on the bridge of the nose
  • A mild to moderate drooping of nasal tip
  • Noses that need more height, definition and a nose tip

A dermal filler nose job can create a beautiful and desirable nose, which not only helps to shape and straighten the nose, but is also able to lift the tip. For the procedure, small amounts of dermal filler get injected just beneath the surface of the skin in precise locations, to straighten or change the shape of the nose, and they can even be inserted into the tip of the nose for an upturned appearance. There's no downtime needed after the procedure, and any minor bruising or redness usually goes away in a few days and can easily be covered by makeup.

Dermal fillers aren't permanent and over time will break down. The fillers stay in the body for about 9-12 months, so further treatment might be needed to keep up your desired appearance. Many of our clients pleasantly find their procedure at Selston Cosmetic Clinic a lot more comfortable than they expected. Our cosmetic doctor, Dr Bassi is a very experienced cosmetic practitioner and is highly skilled and precise - you couldn't be in safer hands.

Tear Troughs - Fill In The Hollows Under The Eyes - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Dark circles under the eyes is a common problem. As we get older, we lose fat pads from underneath the eyes, and this causes eye bags, dark circles, puffiness and a hollowness that causes us to look tired and drawn. This loss of volume and laxity of the lower eyelid skin is often called the tear trough, and it can have the adverse effect of making us seem older than we are, which isn't great for our self-confidence.

In our youth, the fat in our face is distributed evenly, with some pockets plumping up the cheeks, forehead, temples and areas around the eyes and mouth. As we age, that fat loses volume and shifts downward, making the features that were once rounded, start to sink, meaning that other parts of the face gain some fat, so we tend to get baggy around the chin and jowly in the neck.

When we first meet someone, they look at our eyes, and we don't want them to just notice how tired and drawn we look. One of the side effects of ageing, is the deepening of the hollows below your eyes, and this natural sign of ageing happens because; as we age, the soft tissue loses volume. Also, lifestyle factors like stress and lack of sleep can result in dark circles around your eyes.

Volume replacement in the under eye area can reshape the face. Dermal fillers are now used to eliminate the hollows you may have and by filling in these depressions it can take away your tired look and lighten the dark circles around the eyes. Tear trough treatment using dermal fillers is a non-surgical procedure that can restore your looks instantly. The filler gets injected under the skin using very fine needles, re-creating the plump, firm skin that your under eye area used to have.

Benefits of tear trough treatment:
  • Filler will banish under-eye bags
  • It will reduce wrinkles
  • Add volume to the under-eye area
  • Instant results that last 6-8 months
  • Treatment will leave you feeling and looking younger
At Selston Cosmetic Clinic your treatment is in the safe, capable hands of Dr. Bassi, who has many years experience of injecting dermal fillers. He has a trained eye for what looks good and what will suit your face. It's important to avoid an overdone and unnatural look, and in the hands of Dr. Bassi, you will get natural-looking results to make you look younger and more refreshed.

Definition of The Chin & Jaw Line Using Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The loss of definition in the jaw line is usually one of the first signs of ageing that people notice. Gaining weight, losing weight and genetics, can all make the jowls begin to sag, but often, it’s the loss of skin tone and the effects of gravity that are most to blame. It might take longer for jowls to become noticeable if you have a fuller face, but if your face is thin, they may start to show earlier. With age we lose definition in our jaw, but the good news is that you may be able to correct the sagging jowls and regain a beautifully defined jaw line.

A profile doesn't matter that much to you when you're looking straight into the mirror, but your profile is there for everyone else to see, when they look at your face from different angles. While wrinkles may age you, it's actually the shape of your face that's making you look older but it's easy to improve these issues by injecting dermal filler.

Injecting dermal filler into the contour of the lower edge of the jaw can:
  • Improve the profile
  • Create a more prominent and defined chin
  • Make the face appear younger
  • Restore volume to sagging jowls
  • Create a straighter, firmer jaw line
Facial fillers can help to create the look of a strong jaw, and for those with a weak jaw line, carefully placed filler injections can create a desired look. Filler treatments can provide a non-invasive, non-surgical way to get the jaw line you want, restoring definition to the chin and jaw line, without invasive surgery.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we apply a topical anaesthetic cream 30 to 60 minutes before filler treatment. In order to make the treatment as painless as possible a local anaesthetic is added to the filler, and our clients usually report that the procedure was relatively comfortable. The filler treatment takes around 15 minutes.

Dermal Filler can easily be used on the chin, stiffening the skin and defining the chin and jowl area and lessening the weakness of the chin. The filler can lengthen and enhance the lower facial appearance, creating a more balanced profile. Fillers are used to re-sculpt the lower face and restore volume, creating a youthful facial contour.

A strong chin adds definition to your face, enhances your appearance and brings a balance to your facial features. If the sagging is mild to moderate, injectable treatments such as dermal filler can easily correct this problem.

Facial Fillers with High & Low G Prime - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are gels or compounds which we inject into the face to fill in creases, folds, and deep wrinkles and to volumise an ageing face and lift the cheeks. Fillers are rated for viscosity and elasticity which is also called G Prime. Fillers with high G Prime offer better structure than fillers with low G Prime. The higher the G Prime in the filler, the better the lift, as it's firmer and tends to keep its shape.

The viscosity in fillers, relates to the flow and how spreadable the filler is. The thicker the filler, the better it keeps its shape, while a thinner filler will be more fluid. The G Prime or elasticity, describes how the filler retains its shape against facial movements, like when you're smiling and frowning.

There are many different types of fillers on the market. Some fillers are thick and firm, and some are softer and runnier. Things that distinguish injectable fillers include; the elasticity and how well the material sticks together, the G prime and its ability to withstand gravity and facial movements and how well the filler spreads.

The dermal fillers used at Selston Cosmetic Clinic are Hyaluronic acid based fillers or a calcium hydroxylapatite filler.

We use:
  • Restylane range
  • Juvederm Ultra
  • Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite based filler.
  • Teosyal Kiss
Hyaluronic acid is the most common type of filler used in cosmetic treatments, and it's also a substance that's found naturally in our bodies. Babies have lots of hyaluronic acid and this is why they have plump, round cheeks. As we grow old we lose volume in our faces, the cheeks deflate and excess skin falls toward the jaw line, giving us sagging jowls and wrinkles. If you imagine your face is a balloon that's being slowly deflated, well, dermal fillers can help to re-inflate it.

Higher G Prime in a filler means a higher degree of thickness, and the thicker fillers are able to give more lifting. Fillers with lower G Primes are softer and spread through the tissues easier and moves better within the face. For nasolabial folds, adding definition to the chin and cheek enhancement; a filler with a high G Prime is a better choice to lift and contour, because it can lift and support the skin and surrounding structures. A lower G Prime filler has thinner flowing gel and is better suited for areas near the eyes and the lips, because it's more fluid.

Thicker dermal fillers with high G Prime help to restore the skin, giving it the underlying structural support that it lacks, while thinner G Prime fillers are best for smoothing and softening, and not supporting.
