Certain skin conditions, such as acne and pimples, injuries from accidents, surgery or medical conditions such as chickenpox or measles can cause scarring on the skin. There are different types of acne scars, ranging from mild to severe but it's the scars that sit on the surface of the skin can affect our self-esteem, especially when they are in a place that's visible to others. 

Prevention is always better than a cure, so to help keep the skin healthy and glowing:

• Drink plenty of water. Many recommend drinking eight glasses of water a day.

Dermaroller Treatment to Improve the Skin's Look & Texture - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When we age, our collagen levels decline and our skin loses its elasticity and this can leave the skin looking tired and lined. Dermaroller treatment, also known as skin needling, reduces lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen production, making the skin look fuller and improving the texture.

It is said that us women look at our self in the mirror at least eight times a day.
Reasons include checking our make-up is still in place , any mascara smudges under the eyes,  lipstick on your teeth ? Maybe to check the development of a spot, but mostly we check out our reflection for a sense of reassurance.

Statistically, women begin to show signs of facial ageing around the age of  25.
The first signs of ageing in women are fine lines around the eyes and around the mouth. The “number elevens” the two frown lines between the eyebrows are common too.

There are many ways our faces seem to look older than our years ; sometimes it's bad luck with our genes, smoking lines at the mouth,  or over exposure of the sun, all these things give us more lines than the norm.

Just think of your wrinkles in the same way as a bruise.  If a bruise is being continually banged then it doesn’t get a chance to go,  just as skin which is regularly being creased in the same place, doesn’t get a chance to smooth out.  Lines and wrinkles are formed by muscle movements like scowling, squinting and the raising of eyebrows. SmartXide...Laser Skin Resurfacing

This lady in her seventies has been having SmartXide on her face. After 3 treatments her face is wonderfully smooth and she looks a lot younger!

She decided to go even further and work down her neck and decollete. This photo is one week after the first treatment on her neck, see how pink and fresh the skin looks! All the sun damage and age spots have gone and the skin looks dramatically different. I will post further pictures as her treatment progresses.

The Laser Skin Rejuvenation programme at Selston Cosmetic Clinic

After having performed numerous laser skin rejuvenation treatments with our state of the art Laser system, I thought I would reflect and share my thoughts with you.

Laser skin rejuvenation is a great treatment for everybody regardless of age, however it isn’t cheap, being at the top end of our treatment menu at £149 per treatment, but the rewards are impressive and we pride ourselves on the fact that this is a great price when compared to our competitor clinics.

Because of the budget implications I tend to recommend microdermabrasion or skin peels, priced at around £80 per treatment, whenever possible. However when it comes to people with mature skin, sun damaged skin or who have overdone it on the ‘trusty’ sun beds and at the beach, then laser skin rejuvenation is really the only way to go.

Not that microdemabrasion and skin peels don’t have a place with laser skin rejuvenation, as a matter of fact it can be combined with these treatments and both derma roller therapy (skin needling) and our new plasma-rich protein skin rejuvenation therapy.

In my opinion the skin looks fresher, tighter with an even skin tone and gives that extra special glow!
