Younger Looking Skin With Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Enhanced laser skin rejuvenation treatment is one of the treatments on offer at Selston Cosmetic Clinic, where we use an advanced state of the art laser scope laser system for enhanced skin rejuvenation.

This treatment is a non-invasive laser treatment for fine wrinkles, ageing and sun-damaged skin and is often called the non-surgical face lift. It's non-ablative, so the surface of the skin remains unchanged and there's no healing or recovery time.

Enhanced Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment:
  • Gives even face colouring
  • Gives a youthful glow and a silky feeling skin
  • Tightens up the skin
  • Plumps up areas such as the cheeks
The gentle lasers reach deep down to the collagen level of the skin, and the precise therapeutic light energy stimulates production of collagen and elastin fibres, improving the tone and texture of the skin and smoothing out facial wrinkles. Slight imperfections, such as pigmentation irregularities e.g. brown sunspots are also corrected and broken blood vessels and red and blue facial veins erased.

The benefits:
  • Reduces facial wrinkles and fine lines
  • Treats sun damage, including age spots and brown pigmentation
  • Improves broken blood vessels, red and blue facial veins
  • No recovery time, return to activities immediately
  • Safe for face, chest, neck and hands & anywhere sun damage shows

The enhanced laser skin rejuvenation procedure normally takes around 40-60 minutes to perform and we recommend six treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart. The treatment effects are cumulative, with optimal results appearing after 4 to 6 months. Most clients experience minimal discomfort when we are delivering the laser pulses, but some may experience a minor stinging sensation on the skin. We can offer topical anaesthetic cream to make the treatments more comfortable.
  • Procedure time - 30 minutes
  • Treatment course - 6 treatments, each 4 weeks apart
  • Back to work - Next day
  • Duration of results - 12 months
  • Anaesthetic - Local
  • Results seen - 4 - 6 weeks
Following your treatment, we recommend that you use sun block daily. There's no down time, and you can wear make up and resume your normal activities immediately. Many clients return to work immediately afterwards, making it an ideal procedure to have done during your lunch time. Occasionally you might experience redness or swelling for a few hours, or on rare occasions, for a few days.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic, Dr Bassi will discuss your requirements and expectations and recommend a personalised treatment plan. The results this cost-effective treatment can achieve, without the use of needles or cosmetic surgery has delighted both us, and our clients.

Botox Injections to Stop Excessive Underarm Sweating - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Everyone sweats, it's completely normal and healthy. Sweating helps to maintain our body temperature: when we're hot, we sweat, and when the moisture evaporates, it cools us off. People also sweat when they're nervous, because emotions can affect the sweat glands.

Some reasons we sweat are :
  • Heat and humidity - when the weather is hot or humid it makes us sweat, and when the sweat evaporates, it cools us down.
  • Exercise - our body temperature rises when we exercise and sweating gets rid of the extra heat.
  • Menopause - the drop in oestrogen affects your body's internal temperature gauge.
  • Spicy food - spicy food contains capsaicin, which is the compound that gives spicy food its heat.
  • Illness - A fever is your body's way of fighting off an infection.
Underarm sweating can cause embarrassment, limit your social life and really affect your confidence and self-esteem. The problem comes, when normal everyday sweating, becomes excessive sweating. Also called Hyperhidrosis, it happens to men and women, and it means that you sweat far more than your body needs you to. The body's cooling mechanism becomes overactive, producing four or five times the amount of sweat that's needed.

To help relieve this you can :

  • Take a bath or shower once or twice daily.
  • Use deodorants with antiperspirants, to help decrease sweating.
  • Wear clothes made of natural fibres, such as cotton or linen, especially in the summer.
  • Underarm pads can help to absorb sweat, preventing underarm stains.
  • A change of clothing during the day can help your comfort.

Excessive sweating can now be effectively treated with Botox injections. The Botox hyperhidrosis treatment involves injections of tiny amounts of Botox, using a very fine needle in a grid like pattern over the affected area. Botox works by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands, and when the glands no longer receive the chemical signals, the excessive underarm sweating stops.

Procedure Time - 20 Minutes
Downtime - Minimal
Back To Work - Immediate
Duration Of Results - 4-6 Months
Anaesthetic - None
Results Seen - Sweat Free

In most cases the treatment takes effect within a matter of days and can last up to 10-12 months, and we can repeat the procedure as often as necessary. At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we endeavour to keep the Botox injection experience gentle and pain free. Our trained professional team will put you at ease and support you through the whole experience.

Vaser Lipo on Outer Thighs Before & After Photo's - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Vaser lipo treatment selectively removes stubborn fat from different area's on the body, giving the client a sleek body that couldn't be achieved by just exercise or diet. Exercise should always be the first option, but you may still have trouble getting rid of the stubborn fat, even if you're strict with your diet and spend every day at the gym. Sometimes, no matter how many times you visit the gym, that fat just won't shift!

It's no fun feeling self conscious about the parts of your body which you feel have got fat, but the older we get, the harder it is to keep these trouble spots in check. Sometimes, with hard work we can lose the fat, other times we'll minimise it, but a lot of the time we can't completely remove the last pockets of fat. Vaser lipo can help you to create a sleeker, smoother looking body.

Before and after vaser lipo
A vaser lipo procedure isn't a method to lose weight or an alternative to diet and exercises, but should be regarded as a form of body contouring, which sculpts the body to the desired look. Vaser lipo uses ultrasound energy to break up fat, and its innovative technology respects the veins, nerves, blood vessels and surrounding tissue, leaving them relatively intact. The technique allows the doctor to work with such precision, shaping even delicate areas, such as the chin and knees.

Women tend to store fat in the lower part of the body and the most notorious problem areas are the hips and thighs. Approximately half of all women are pear shaped, which means their bottom half is larger than their top half. Fatty thighs make fitting into slim fitting clothes a mission impossible, and can ruin the lines of an otherwise stunning outfit.

Wearing clothing that cling, just highlights those bits of the body that we hate the most. We don't get the smooth outline we want, and we definitely don't achieve a great silhouette. This lady came to Selston Cosmetic Clinic to have vaser lipo on her outer thighs. Although she exercised regularly, she just couldn't smooth out her thighs.

Before and after vaser lipo.

After vaser she had a much smoother outline and had no problem wear tight fitting skirts and jeans.

After lipo treatment is completed, the body won't replace the fat cells, so a long-lasting change in body shape can be maintained by regular exercise and a healthy diet. Younger people with firm elastic skin tend to have better results with vaser lipo, as older skin is less elastic and doesn't tighten so readily around the new shape.

Facial Fillers with High & Low G Prime - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are gels or compounds which we inject into the face to fill in creases, folds, and deep wrinkles and to volumise an ageing face and lift the cheeks. Fillers are rated for viscosity and elasticity which is also called G Prime. Fillers with high G Prime offer better structure than fillers with low G Prime. The higher the G Prime in the filler, the better the lift, as it's firmer and tends to keep its shape.

The viscosity in fillers, relates to the flow and how spreadable the filler is. The thicker the filler, the better it keeps its shape, while a thinner filler will be more fluid. The G Prime or elasticity, describes how the filler retains its shape against facial movements, like when you're smiling and frowning.

There are many different types of fillers on the market. Some fillers are thick and firm, and some are softer and runnier. Things that distinguish injectable fillers include; the elasticity and how well the material sticks together, the G prime and its ability to withstand gravity and facial movements and how well the filler spreads.

The dermal fillers used at Selston Cosmetic Clinic are Hyaluronic acid based fillers or a calcium hydroxylapatite filler.

We use:
  • Restylane range
  • Juvederm Ultra
  • Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite based filler.
  • Teosyal Kiss
Hyaluronic acid is the most common type of filler used in cosmetic treatments, and it's also a substance that's found naturally in our bodies. Babies have lots of hyaluronic acid and this is why they have plump, round cheeks. As we grow old we lose volume in our faces, the cheeks deflate and excess skin falls toward the jaw line, giving us sagging jowls and wrinkles. If you imagine your face is a balloon that's being slowly deflated, well, dermal fillers can help to re-inflate it.

Higher G Prime in a filler means a higher degree of thickness, and the thicker fillers are able to give more lifting. Fillers with lower G Primes are softer and spread through the tissues easier and moves better within the face. For nasolabial folds, adding definition to the chin and cheek enhancement; a filler with a high G Prime is a better choice to lift and contour, because it can lift and support the skin and surrounding structures. A lower G Prime filler has thinner flowing gel and is better suited for areas near the eyes and the lips, because it's more fluid.

Thicker dermal fillers with high G Prime help to restore the skin, giving it the underlying structural support that it lacks, while thinner G Prime fillers are best for smoothing and softening, and not supporting.

Dermal Filler Treatment for Tear Troughs & Eye Bags - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The older we get, the more we can expect to notice changes in our face, such as dark circles and the deepening of the hollows under our eyes. When we are young, the area under the eye is plump and firm, but as we age we start to lose volume and we develop a sunken dip under the bottom eyelash line to the upper cheek, giving us a tired, aged appearance.

Tear Troughs before and after treatment
The Naso-Jugal groove, also known as Tear Troughs are the sunken in, or hollowed out area below the eye, and these hollows are usually caused by the thinning of the skin and sagging of the cheek tissues. This happens because of the ageing process, genetics, unhealthy lifestyle or by sun damage.

Fresh looking eyes are a big asset to the overall appearance of a youthful, healthy face. Deep hollows under the eyes can seem very ageing and leave you looking like you haven't slept in weeks, and over time the hollows change in appearance and become longer, deeper and more shadowed.

Deep unsightly hollows can now be corrected with advanced dermal fillers. Filler treatment also helps to correct dark shadowing under the eye. Loss of volume in the tissue under the eye and above the cheek cause troughs to appear and they often look worse when we're tired or dehydrated.

The Tear Trough procedure is an ideal treatment for:
  • Sunken eyes
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Tired looking eyes
  • Eye bags

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we use Teosyal Redensity 2 for tear troughs treatment, and they cause less swelling which is a bonus when treating this delicate area. Hylauronic acid is a substance which naturally occurs in the body and these fillers are non animal based and are very safe to use. Fillers are an excellent option to correct mild to moderate hollowing, and can successfully mask the bags under the eyes.

A detailed knowledge of the anatomy is essential when treating this delicate area and Dr. Bassi has over 10 years experience as a specialist cosmetic practitioner and has performed thousands of injectable treatments.

To minimise any discomfort, a topical anaesthetic cream gets applied about 20 minutes before treatment starts, numbing the skin and easing any pain. The treatment only takes twenty to thirty minutes to complete and the results are instant. There's minimal downtime, although you may have a little bruising, as the skin under the eye is very delicate. Teosyl Redensity II will rejuvenate tired looking eyes to create a more youthful appearance that lasts up to twelve months.

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Hair Transplant Treatment - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Hair loss and thinning hair can cause emotional distress for anyone. A luxurious head of hair is often associated with youth, beauty, and good health, and when it starts to thin, or disappear altogether,  your confidence and self-esteem can diminish.

Hair loss and baldness shouldn't be inevitable, as we can restore your crowning glory using advanced hair transplant techniques, with very convincing results. Renowned hair transplant surgeon Dr Raghu Reddy's wealth of experience has made him a much sought after FUE transplant surgeon. His main practice is in London, Harley Street and his satellite clinic serving the North and Midlands is Selston Cosmetic Clinic.

Extracted hair waiting to be placed into the scalp

Lots of things bother us when hair loss or thinning hair starts happening:

Concerns about getting older
For many people, losing their hair causes them to look older than their years. We might feel the beginning of hair loss signals the end of youth, turning men into their dad!

Problems with hair styles
Thinning and balding men get frustrated that they can't style their hair as they want to, and it takes time and effort to camouflage thinning hair and bald spots.

Unhappy with appearance
Disappearing and thinning hair lines and bald spots can alter a person’s appearance and subsequently change the way they see themselves. When this occurs, their self-esteem can plummet, leaving them unhappy and vulnerable.

Teasing and embarrassment
When hair loss becomes noticeable on someone, they can become the object of teasing or bullying. Apparently, 60%  of all bald men get teased at some point in their lives.

Placing the follicles into the scalp

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a minimally invasive, precise, technically demanding hair transplant surgery procedure. In the FUE surgery, grafts get taken one by one from the back of the scalp and placed one by one into the balding areas. A graft can have anywhere between one to four hairs, the amount of grafts needed will depend on your donor site and the balding area which requires filling in.

Before the procedure, a local anaesthetic gets applied around the perimeter of the scalp. Once the scalp is entirely numb, the rest of the procedure is completely painless. Should your procedure be an extensive one, lasting more than 5-6 hours, extra anaesthetic gets applied before the first one wears off.

After hair follicles are in the scalp
The advantage is that you have no linear scars and you can have your hair very short without any noticeable scarring. Hair grows out from the donor area fairly quickly so by one week after a FUE procedure, a short beard-like growth of the hair covers most donor wounds, making the donor excisions nearly undetectable.

Fine, Downy Hair Removal with Alkaline Hair Wash - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The cosmetic team at Selston Cosmetic Clinic receive a lot of enquiries from clients with blonde, grey, fine and downy hair, wanting to have hair removal treatment using lasers. Unfortunately, as laser hair removal is typically beyond the reach of these hair types and gives very poor results, we have no choice but to advise against having this treatment... but we do have an alternative!

Alkaline hair remover is the next best thing, to remove unwanted downy, facial hair. Alkaline wash has been specifically designed to reduce this type of unwanted hair. It's the perfect hair removal treatment for downy hair on the face, lip and chin and it's a treatment that is designed to eliminate the fine hair on your face that shouldn't be waxed, and hair that's difficult to treat with electrolysis or laser.

We apply a paste made of alkaline powder for a few minutes to dissolve part of the underlying follicle beneath the skin. This releases hair from the hair follicles, giving you smooth, hair free skin immediately after treatment. With regular treatments, it's said that regrowth becomes slower and ultimately ceases for most people. Alkaline Hair Wash does not stimulate dormant hair follicles as waxing sometimes does and the only side effect, is a possible temporary redness after treatment.

Removing downy hair with alkaline hair wash treatment

Alkaline Wash is most effective when treating fine, blonde, white, grey or downy hair. It's most suitable for areas where there's a dense growth of fine hair, that is usually resistive to standard hair removal methods. After the first treatment the hair will normally grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the re-growth will become slower and slower. The hair does not grow back any coarser after Alkaline Hair Wash Treatment.
  • The procedure time is 1-2 days
  • The treatment course is 6 treatments, each treatment is 4 weeks apart
  • No recovery time, you are back to work the next day
  • The treatment normally results in permanent hair removal
  • The treatment is painless and needs no anaesthetic
  • The results are immediately seen
Alkaline hair wash can drastically reduce hair growth after 2-3 treatments, leaving some clients happy with the improvement they get, but most continue with the full treatment course, aiming for total clearance. The treatment itself is painless, although in some cases the skin can become red, but this is normal and will only last for a short period.

We can use Alkaline hair wash hair removal treatment as a stand alone treatment or combined with laser hair removal to give that smooth finished hair free look! Now blonde's can have the benefits of hair removal too!

Laser Treatment for Unwanted Hair - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Many people have areas of unwanted hair that they want removing. So whether you are a woman with hairy legs or shock horror - a hairy upper lip or maybe you're a man with excessive hair on the face, chest or back, there are many ways to help remove unwanted hair.

Shaving - removes hair using a razor at the level of the skin, but hair will return in the following days. There's always the possibility that shaving will cause unwanted cuts and irritations.
Waxing - is a good alternative to shaving. This method is semi-permanent and removes the hair from the root. It will take two to eight weeks for new hairs to grow back in the waxed area. Waxing could be painful if used in delicate areas, and the price could prove expensive over time.
Electrolysis - can permanently remove hair but it's an extremely slow and painful method, and can sometimes result in scarring.
Laser - the pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the energy, this laser energy is then converted to heat, causing thermal damage to the follicle without harming the surrounding skin. This results in hair growth being stopped in the damaged follicle.

Selston Cosmetic Clinic uses the most advanced Laser Technology to offer a safe and effective way to reduce unwanted body and facial hair. Laser hair removal treatment is ideal, as we can treat small and large areas quickly and effectively, compared to other methods. Over the winter months we don't bare our legs much, so why not do your legs a favour, and get them ready for Summer. Imagine having smooth, silky legs without the hassle of shaving and waxing.

Laser can remove hair almost permanently from:
  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Forearms
  • Underarms
  • Legs
  • Bikini line
  • Back
Are you a good candidate?
Not all hair is suitable to have laser treatment. At Selston Cosmetic Clinic, we can use the laser on white, through to black skin tones. Generally for white skin, it takes around 6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart, and this usually results in 80% of hair removal. Darker or black skin may need around 8 treatments resulting again in 80% of hair removed. It's not possible to treat white, grey, and blond hair by laser.

Go to a reputable clinic
Always be sure that the clinic you choose has certified laser professionals. Check it has been in business for a significant amount of time and that previous clients are happy with their results.

After treatment
Once your treatment session is complete, you're free to resume your normal routine. Some might experience a slight redness on the treated area but this should resolve in a day or two. You should avoid sun exposure and be sure to wear sun cream every day following any laser treatment. Immediately after laser treatment, hair follicles might seem to grow for one to two weeks. Typically these are lifeless hairs and they will fall out quite easily.

Firmer, Tighter Skin with PDO Thread lifts - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

If you are starting to get a saggy face, with jowls at your jaw and drooping eyelids but feel that you don't want to go to the time and expense of a face lift, then PDO thread lifts is the treatment for you.

Treads being inserted during a PDO thread lift procedure.
PDO thread lifts are really a face lift without surgery, and the procedure itself is very simple as there are no incisions or cuts, just simple injections placed in strategic places. The threads used are Polydioxanone (PDO) which are a synthetic fibre, used in medicine for many years, typically in surgery. Before treatment, local anaesthetic gets injected, which dramatically reduces any discomfort from the injections. The PDO threads are simply inserted into the skin with a very fine needle to lift tissue and muscle and improve skin texture. They dissolve after a certain amount of time in the skin.

When we start to get older we tend to lose the volume in various areas of our face and PDO thread lifts are ideal for loose or sagging skin. The treatment is non-invasive and is done purely with injections. They are extremely versatile and can treat all around the face and neck, treating vertical and horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, drooping cheeks, sagging brows, sagging jaw line, pronounced nasolabial (nose to mouth) and marionette (corner of the mouth to the chin) folds and neck and folds and wrinkles on the chin.

PDO thread lifts can improve
  • The horizontal and vertical forehead lines and wrinkles
  • A forehead lift
  • Sagging eyebrows
  • Lower eyelid - bags under the eyes
  • Marionette lines
  • Jaw line
  • Naso-labial folds
  • Creased cheeks.
Thread lifts will give the skin an immediate lift, take away fine lines and wrinkles and improve the skin's appearance. They lift and tighten the skin by promoting collagen and elastin and smooth the skin by promoting the formation of hyalauronic acid, which improves skin hydration / moisturisation. PDO threads will dissolve at around 6 months and by this time the collagen will have been rebuilt and the effects will last up to two years.

As with all injectable treatments, bruising can happen after the procedure. The amount of bruising is different from client to client and will also depend on the area being treated. The recovery time for this treatment is usually under a week and you should avoid strenuous exercise for between two to three weeks.

PDO thread lift treatment will improve your skin texture, leaving you with tighter, firmer skin and natural looking results, giving you a refreshed, rejuvenated, youthful look.
