Improve,Tighten & Tone Lax Skin with Accent Radio Frequency - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

It's quite demoralising when we notice our skin becoming thin and lax as we get older. Over time, the firm and toned look that helps to keep us looking young, slowly starts to get less firm, and not so toned. It can take us by surprise to see our skin start to lose its first flush of youth, noticing the smile lines get deeper, seeing drooping eyebrows and the jaw line starting to sag, but what can we do about it?
Accent radio-frequency is an energy that causes heating by using radio waves. It's used to treat areas on the face and body, where the heat causes the fat cells to disrupt, reducing the cellulite and tightening the skin. Radio-frequency will address skin laxity and its firmness. When the skin gets heated to a certain temperature, we'll see improvement of the collagen formation and an increase of the blood flow and circulation, strengthening the tissue, and improving the skin's texture. It's an ideal treatment if you're looking for skin improvement without using needles or having incisions.
Accent radio-frequency is used either as a stand alone treatment, or combined with other procedures to enhance the results. It's a comfortable way to tone, tighten and smooth your skin, giving you rejuvenated skin firmness and a youthful toned look. This is a non-invasive way to treat wrinkles, and it's effective in tightening loose skin, promoting healthy collagen production and improving body shape.
Accent radio-frequency improves;
  • Skin Tightening
  • Cellulite
  • Stretch Marks
  • Neck Tightening
  • Face Tightening
  • Arm Tightening
  • Lines & Wrinkles
Radio-frequency is mostly used for facial tightening, and is best suited to those with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues. It can treat any skin colour and it's commonly used for improving the forehead, beneath the eyes, cheeks, on the mid-face, the jaw line, and neck.
There are important considerations to consider when you have radio-frequency treatment. You need to play an active part in your treatment to gain and keep up your results. You'll need to drink lots of water, as dehydration plays a big part in the way that we age. Clients should make sure they're hydrated at the time of treatment because of the interaction between radio-frequency and the water molecules in their tissue.
Skin tightening procedures are non-invasive and an improvement of cellulite and fat reduction can sometimes be seen after the first session, but most people will see a significant improvement after several sessions. We recommend six sessions two weeks apart, but more might be required depending on the extent of the problem.
Accent is a highly versatile treatment, it's perfect to combine with microdermabrasion and skin peels. The results are immediate results and there's no down time.

Reduce Laughter Lines (Nasolabial) With Dermal Filler - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

The rate of ageing varies from one person to another, and there are many factors that contribute to these changes; our lifestyle, environment,  genetics and gender. Dermal fillers can improve lots of specific areas from the signs of ageing, with treatments such as; non-surgical nose-jobs, replacing volume in the chin, cheeks and tear troughs, plumping up thin lips and improving the deep folds of  laughter lines, which are also known as nasolabial and marionette lines.

Genetics and facial structure partially decide how prominent and deep the nasolabial folds will get. As ageing progresses, smiling makes the nasolabial lines more exaggerated, and they get deeper, as with age the face loses collagen and fat, causing the face to sag. Deep smile folds, also known as nasolabial folds, are the large visible lines running from each side of the nose to the side of the mouth.

The face shows all of its signs of ageing to everyone who looks at it, after all, it's not exactly a feature we can hide. Cosmetic treatments can treat facial ageing in many ways and one of the most effective treatments, is to restore the loss of facial volume with dermal fillers. The filler adds extra fullness to where wrinkles are most prominent, smoothing out lines and restoring and enhancing the facial shape.

The skin loses elasticity because of the natural ageing process and the effects of sun exposure. Losing weight also affects the face, sometimes not in a good way, as it can cause the fat and other soft tissue that usually sits high up on the cheeks, to be pulled down by gravity. The sagging cheeks and volume loss, combined with the effects of gravity can cause nasolabial lines to appear. These smile, or laughter lines, form from the mouth to the nose, and these folds separate the cheeks from the upper lip, generally becoming more pronounced as we get older.

Dermal fillers are highly effective in correcting nasolabial lines.
  • Most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that's naturally found in the human body, that absorbs moisture and keeps the skin hydrated.
  • There are many types of hyaluronic acid based fillers available and treatment results can last between 6-18 months.
  • Having the filler treatments performed by an experienced practitioner will make sure that any infections and allergic reactions rarely happen.
  • Any side effects, such as redness, swelling, or bruising from the injections, are usually instantaneous, but quickly subside.
  • A numbing cream can easily be applied to minimise any discomfort, and there's only minimal downtime.
Injectable dermal fillers are an ideal treatment to temporarily improve fine lines, wrinkles and deep-set folds such as nasolabial lines; they can thicken the skin, reducing the lines and they'll also restore and moisturise the skin.

Benefits of Vaser Lipo Treatment at SelstonCosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

If diet and exercise haven't given you the amazing results you are after, then vaser lipo can help. Vaser lipo can produce smooth, even results in the treated areas, by using a precise and minimally invasive procedure that leaves you with dramatic results, with just one treatment. The vaser procedure is tissue-selective, targeting fat while protecting other tissues from any damage.

Benefits of vaser lipo:
* It can produce eye-catching results with a single procedure
* Large amounts of stored fat can easily be removed
* Vaser treatment can produce smooth skin, even in delicate areas like the arms and neck
* Vaser lipo treatment can give definition and highlight the muscles

There are many advantages and benefits of having Vaser lipo treatments;
An increase in self-confidence
  • One of the main reasons why people turn to vaser lipo is to boost confidence in their body image. Having insecurities about the shape of your body can make you feel disheartened, not wanting to go out in public, or preventing you from wearing the style of clothes you want to wear. Others might be worried that they'll be ridiculed, and some can even develop a negative body image and weight issues. Lipo is a great, fast solution enabling men and women to shape and contour the particular parts of their body that they dislike most, and it can literally change their life for the better, giving them confidence they never knew they had in them.
Getting a healthier lifestyle
  • Sometimes it can feel hard to pursue a healthy lifestyle if we are overweight, mostly because we feel that the results we are aiming for, seem so far away, and when it doesn’t feel like you’re getting anywhere, it’s hard to stay motivated. Vaser lipo can help to kick-start a healthier lifestyle, and we might feel happier going to the gym with a more streamlined body or feel more confident taking up a new pastime when we’re not preoccupied on our body hang-ups. Once our body shape is the way we want it, the more likely we are to work hard to keep it that way.
Better fitting clothing
  • Clothes are such an issue when we aren't happy with our bodies. Big hips or fatty saddlebags can ruin the line of a skirt, chunky thighs can become a problem in jeans and trousers and bra or back fat is very unsightly when it's visible through tops and dresses. Once people have vaser lipo, many of them realise that they can now choose from a wider range of styles in different sizes, no longer having to rely on the plus-size section. Having unwanted fat removed from the tummy, thighs, hips or back might also result in a drop in dress size and a fashionable new wardrobe is a great way to boost your confidence.

Dermal Fillers For Beautiful Valentine's Day Lips - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

By our 30's, our lips start to get lines, become thinner and lose their definition and as time passes, it can become even more obvious, particularly in smokers. The lips are a main focal point of the face and our smile, laughter and voice all draw attention to this area. Ageing naturally causes your lips to change, and over time, the volume of the lips will deplete and there'll be a loss of contour, leaving a thinner, flatter appearance.

Dermal fillers are a great way to enhance the lip volume and redefine the lip shape. It's suitable for women, and men, who want to increase their lip size, or for those who are unhappy with their naturally thin lips. It's also a good treatment for lip creases, and will soften the lines, preventing lipstick bleeds, and will enhance the area around the mouth, making it look younger.

  • Ask the practitioner how dermal filler injections can improve your lips, and make sure they are fully aware of the look you're trying to achieve.
  • If you're nervous about discomfort, then a topical numbing cream can easily be applied to the injection area, making treatment more comfortable.
  • Lip filler treatments usually take less than an hour.
  • After cleansing and disinfecting the mouth area, the dermal filler will be precisely injected into the chosen areas using an ultra-fine needle. There'll be only a minimal amount of discomfort and maybe some slight bruising.
  • The results are visible immediately.
  • After treatment a cold compress on the lips will help to prevent any swelling.
  • After you have healed, your lips should feel natural.
  • Lipstick or other lip products are best avoided immediately after the procedure.

There are some lips that will just need a tiny amount of filler and this will make all the difference, proving you don't need lots of volume to give you beautiful results. As you get older you naturally lose hyaluronic acid making the lips shrink, and what we do at Selston Cosmetic Clinic is to restore your lips making them look like the lips you used to have. Lip enhancement treatments will shape your smile, restoring volume and achieving beautiful, fresh and fuller lips.

Some of the most common complaints that people have are;
  • Asymmetrical lips, where the corners of the mouth turn downwards
  • Volume loss, lips lacking volume and definition
  • Ageing lines around the mouth, either through ageing or smoking
  • The upper lip, beneath the nose, can become flattened
At Selston, Dr Bassi will look at your whole face, making sure that he keeps your lips in proportion with the rest of your features, making sure you keep that all important natural look. We'd all like beautiful lips with definition and shape to give us a great smile and to compliment the beauty of the face.

Cosmetic Treatments Can Help Combat Ageing Skin - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

You might start to notice some changes on your skin as you get older; whether it's a wrinkle, fine lines on your forehead, crows feet at the eyes or smokers lines around the mouth, but there are some lifestyle changes that you can make that will work in your favour, helping to slow down more signs of ageing from appearing. We can't reverse ageing, but we can help ourselves to age well.

There are certain facial expressions that can accelerate ageing. Small expression lines usually start at the outer corners of the eyes and are known as laughter lines, and they happen when the effect of using muscles to smile show up in the delicate eye area. Over time, the fine lines will appear on the cheeks, and the forehead will start to get noticeable horizontal lines from frowning, which tend to become deeper as time goes by.

The skin doesn't shed and renew itself as quickly as we get older, and a decrease in collagen causes the skin to lose moisture and elasticity. We facial lose volume which causes sagging, and the skin grows loose and can give us bags under the eyes and jowls. Outside factors can also influence our skin: from the harshness of winter, with cold wind and rain causing redness and chapped, rough skin, to the damage caused by the summer sun, from years of tanning with sun screen and sun burn damage from all of those times when you didn't apply any sun protection.

Ageing skin:
  • The rate of skin cell turnover slows down as we get older, resulting in thinner crepe like skin.
  • There's less production of elastin and collagen, making the ageing skin vulnerable to the effects of gravity. This can result in jowls and bags under the eyes.
  • Wrinkles occur as the ageing skin becomes thinner, as a result of reduced elastin and collagen.
  • Age spots happen when pigment cells in the skin increase in certain areas and cluster together, resulting in sun spots or liver spots and freckles.
  • The ageing skin has fewer sweat and oil glands, making it prone to dryness.
  • The blood vessels in ageing thin skin are more likely to break, bruise or become permanently dilated, causing facial thread veins.
The facial muscles, like all the muscles throughout the body, will shrink and weaken over time. When the face muscles change, it can cause bags under the eyes, sunken or hollow eyelids, dark circles, and eyelid folds. Fat deposits give your face its contours. These contours are smooth when we are younger and have more volume, but as time goes by, the fat loses volume and changes positions, helping to give us an older appearance. The cheeks and under-eyes show these changes first, and as the cheeks lose their fat and slide down the face, it will make the cheeks look flat. Fat lost from the cheeks and jaw line might cause jowls or a double chin.

Chemical peel treatment
There are many cosmetic treatments which can help ageing skin to look fresher, healthier and younger. Dermal filers can replace the lost volume in the cheeks, the tear troughs beneath the eyes, nose to mouth lines, the jaw line and can plump up thin lips. Botox gives excellent results when treating forehead creases, frown lines and the crows feet around the eyes. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are ideal treatments to exfoliate your skin, removing dead and dull cells to improve skin texture and tone, making your face look and feel fresh and youthful.

Cosmetic Treatments For Ageing Hands - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Our hands manage to do a lot throughout the day and if we don’t take care of them, they might begin to look older than they really are. The hands can age faster than the face; with years of washing up, daily use, sunshine and environmental factors causing the skin on our hands to dry out and look old beyond their years. The hands get as much sun exposure as the face and yet we don't seem to pay them the same amount of attention.

Practicing a good skin care routine helps to keep our skin looking youthful and healthy, but unfortunately we don't seem give the same careful attention to our hands, as we do to our face. As we age, the veins and bones become more visible because the skin on the hands is thinner and more delicate than elsewhere, and just as we lose fat and collagen from the face and body, we also lose it on our hands, making them look old and skeletal.

These days we make a lot of effort to look after our body and face, with more of us opting for facial treatments like botox, dermal fillers and skin treatments to help keep us looking younger and rejuvenated. Some women take such good care to keep their face looking good, that they find the face and hands don't really match. The hands can look so much older than the rest of you, and the loss of volume, fat and elasticity just accentuates the differences.

The skin on your hands is a dead giveaway of ageing, and over time they can lose their firmness and volume, they can go dry, scaly and get crêpey skin and get protruding veins and age spots. Age spots are also called liver or sun spots, which are areas of hyperpigmentation caused by UV exposure. Since UV exposure causes age spots, the best way to prevent them is to protect your hands from the sun by using sun screen. Age spots can easily become less visible by using skin bleaching agents, fading or lightening creams or laser therapy.

  • Exfoliating the skin with microdermabrasion treatment will remove dead skin cells and make your skin softer and brighter, and can also help to even out the skin tone. When you exfoliate  your face at home, you should apply the same product to your hands.
  • Always moisturizer your hands after they've been in water, by applying anti-ageing moisturizer whilst they are still damp.
  • Chemical Peels will take away any dead skin, improving the skin tone, softening the skin and eliminating brown spots.
  • Laser treatments can promote collagen production, which will help plump up your skin.
  • Dermal filler injections will correct volume loss in the back of wrinkly hands, which will improve the skin quality and plump your hands up again. A dermal filler treatment with hyaluronic acid, will help to plump the skin and make them wrinkle free.

Refresh Your Face With a Botox Brow Lift - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Eyebrow grooming has now become one of the most important treatments in women’s beauty routines. We trim and shape the brows with tweezers, waxing and threading and tint them with semi-permanent make-up, to get the HD brows that are all the rage. However, as we age, the eyebrows tend to become flatter and slowly drift downwards. The arch can become straighter making us look older or even angry or sad, and a heavy sagging brow can cause you to look tired or unhappy.
When you look at someone, you'll notice that the eyebrows are a very expressive area of their face, just the slightest movement of the brow can convey a variety of emotions. Even when you look in the mirror at yourself, you'll see that the eyes and forehead play a prominent role in how we communicate our feelings and emotions. As we get older, the more our skin loses its elasticity, and the constant movement of our facial muscles can create folds and this can leave lines and wrinkles on the face. The overuse of these muscles through smiling, talking, frowning and crunching up the forehead can really affect the skin's condition, and unfortunately lines and wrinkles can start appearing in our 20's and 30's.
Botox is an anti-wrinkle treatment which uses a highly purified protein to block the signals from the nerves to the muscles, causing the muscles to relax. This stops them from contracting, helping to smooth out the lines and tighten the skin, giving the face an overall rejuvenated appearance.
On our face, we use muscles that pull down the eyebrows and muscles that lift them upwards. A skilled practitioner can carefully inject botox into the muscles that pull downwards, giving a lift to the brows. Botox gets injected into two or three muscles which to pull the brow down, changing the dynamic balance and achieving a lift in the appearance. A botox brow lift, using this non-invasive injectable treatment will rejuvenate the upper face and leave you looking rested and refreshed.
Botox brow lifts are fast and can take years off of your facial appearance. Any pain associated with the injections is minimal and any potential discomfort can easily be minimised by applying a topical anaesthetic before your treatment. Botox, when injected by a trained practitioner is extremely safe, almost painless and any side effects are extremely rare. The treatment requires a detailed understanding of the underlying anatomy and using a very fine needle, botox treatment is incredibly precise. Over the course of 2-14 days the brow muscle will relax and the eyebrow will naturally lift.

Be Hair Free With Laser Treatment at Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Did you know that around five million hair follicles cover the human body? After our heads, the highest concentration of hair is in our nostrils! Having facial hair and body hair isn't a bad thing; it provides much-needed insulation during the cold winter months, helping to regulate our body temperature and nostril hairs and eyelashes keep dirt and dust out of our bodies.

Unwanted hair, especially on the face, is a particular concern with women, often causing embarrassment and insecurity as it's so visible, but over time plucking hairs from the chin, bleaching your upper lip hair and shaving your legs and armpits becomes repetitive and time-consuming. The main reason we go through all this hair management is the same reason we do all the other forms of grooming and personal care we perform upon ourselves - because most women want a neat and tidy appearance.

Laser treatment can eliminate unwanted hair on the:
  • Upper lip
  • Chin
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Legs
  • Under arms
  • Bikini area

On occasion, both men and women struggle with unwanted hair problems, but the problem areas are in different places. Men seem to want hair on their face, women don’t. Women have a full head of hair and this is where lots of men often lose it. Men can walk about will hairy legs, where this is a definite no-no for most women. Having some facial and body hair is perfectly normal, it's todays fashion that calls for us to appear smooth and hairless. Removing hair on the chest is becoming more popular, and whether it's a bit of manscaping for the men, or you've just found a few long hairs sprouting from your nipples, then laser hair removal has you covered.

For women, finding hairs on the chin or the upper lip can be traumatic, so it doesn't hurt to do some maintenance.

There are several ways to remove excessive hair; including;
  • Natural home methods such as sugar waxing
  • Plucking with tweezers is ideal for areas where only a few unwanted hairs appear
  • Waxing which has the same result but on a larger scale
  • Threading is basically hair plucking. It's done with a cotton thread that's rolled across the skin, catching the hair and pulling it out
  • Electrolysis is best suited for women with white or very blond hair and those who are not too hairy
  • Laser treatment is an effective alternative and a course of treatments and is a permanent solution to having smooth, hair-free skin. Laser hair reduction is faster and more effective on dark and coarse hair.

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that should only be done by a qualified professional. It's an extremely precise treatment as the laser can selectively target the hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged. If you have extremely fair or grey hair, the lasers mightn't be able to grasp the pigment in your hair. Each pulse of the laser takes a minute fraction of time and can treat many hairs at the same time. Laser hair removal results are significant and can remove unwanted hair permanently.

Laser treatment can;
  • Let you enjoy longer-term smooth, hair-free skin
  • Stops irritating rashes, infections and in-grown hairs
  • Suitable for most skin types and areas on the body
  • A safe, effective and convenient treatment for most people
  • Long-lasting results are achievable

A Positive Body Image Will Give You Confidence - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Every day we are bombarded with images of body perfection; in magazines, newspapers, television and social media, and it's impossible for any of us to live up to these images. The way we see ourselves affects how we feel about our body, and a poor body image comes from us feeling negative about our appearance, worrying if we're too tall, overweight or the wrong body shape.

Having a positive body image doesn't mean you think your body is perfect, after all no-one has a perfect body. Those with a positive body image are confident and comfortable with themselves, and don't waste any time worrying about the way they look.

Ways to raise your self-esteem:
  • Concentrate on the parts of your body that you like
  • Wear clothing that emphasises your good points
  • Don't compare yourself to others
  • Eat healthily but don't diet
  • Begin an exercising regime
  • Be active - walk and play sports regularly
  • Do not smoke and only drink moderately
  • Accept any compliments you receive

Sometimes it's a challenge to love our own bodies, when we’re surrounded by images in newspapers and magazines of skinny actresses and models - who's photo's have most probably been airbrushed There's a healthy weight range for our own particular body type, and we should consider that the food we put into our body is fuel, and all the choices we make about which food goes into our body should be a reflection of how good it is for our health. The number you see when you step on the scales is a measure of how healthy you are, and not how heavy.

We all have something we want to change about our body but we should only concentrate on the things we can change and not those that we can't. Instead of wishing you were taller or slimmer, go to a gym class and tone up your body. Always dress for how your body shape is and not what you wish it was, and wear clothing that you feel comfortable in, not clothes that feel too tight or restrict your movement.

Don't get stressed about size labels, as most clothes in the shops get made from templates, making it highly unlikely that these clothes will be a perfect fit on us anyway. You should feel good in the clothes you wear, so learn how to dress your own particular body shape, and find out which styles suit you and choose what works for you.

We can change the way we think about ourselves and the way we look. There are minimally invasive cosmetic treatments that you can have, which will trim your body of unwanted fat. Vaser lipo can remove excess fat that you've found hard to lose through diet and exercise. Just a little smoothing out will make you look and feel more confident, and confidence is a very important part of maintaining a healthy body image.
