Botox Injections to Relax & Soften the Face - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

One of the main things that makes people nervous of having botox injections, is the thought of leaving the clinic with a mask like expression on their face. But botox doesn't have to leave you with a frozen looking face, because when it's done properly, it can make you looking younger, fresher and more vibrant. Tell-tale signs of badly injected botox, are a smooth and shiny forehead, or a face that doesn't move when you laugh or cry.

Once you have decided to have botox treatment, you must find a qualified and experienced doctor. A good cosmetic doctor must have a good knowledge about facial anatomy and skin.

We built the Selston Cosmetic Clinic on the strong foundation of Dr Bassi's 26 years of experience in medicine;
  • Dr Bassi has been a part of the aesthetic industry for over 10 years and has a keen passion for human aesthetics.
  • He is fully trained in botox and advanced botox techniques and has performed thousands of procedures.
  • Dr Bassi continues to develop his techniques to provide the most up to date treatments to meet all the individual needs of all our clients.
  • He has successfully performed thousands of botox procedures, and is always updating and perfecting his technique, by attending lots of conferences in facial aesthetics.
  • Dr Bassi tailors his facial remodelling treatments to suit each patient, using artistry and scientific principles of beauty.

Before having any botox treatment, a consultation with Dr Bassi will be necessary. At the free consultation, he'll be able to tell you of the benefits, as well as any potential risks that might be associated with botox treatment. At the clinic we have a high client satisfaction rate and have many returning clients. Selston Cosmetic Clinic prides itself on delivering a professional, cost-effective service, which is well received by our clients.

The furrows that develop between the brows can give you an expression of intense concentration or even make you look angry. Relaxing these wrinkles will give your face a softer, more relaxed expression. A small amount of botox gets injected into the muscle that has created the wrinkle, and this results in the muscle relaxing, which softens the look of the wrinkles.

Botox is most commonly used to reduce frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead, crow’s feet or laughter-lines. Botox treatment isn't just about making you look more youthful, but more about making you look fresher and rejuvenated.

Vaser Lipo to Eliminate Back & Bra Fat - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Vaser lipo is suitable for women and men, and is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available. It's a procedure which  allows you to achieve definition, curves and will alter your shape and dress size. Vaser lipo is a body sculpting treatment, it's not designed as a weight loss treatment.

All women want to look and feel beautiful, but unfortunately there are certain things that can ruin our perfect look, whether it's the fat on our stomach, flabby thighs or bingo wings. One of the most unflattering things, is the bulge on our back, around the bra line area, which causes your bra to dig in, and the bulges to show from under tops and summer dresses. Wearing strapless and low back clothes is out of the question and it can ruin a smooth, sleek silhouette.

Many women struggle to get rid of back or bra fat. It's possible to have a healthy lifestyle and have a lean, athletic figure but still have stubborn areas of fat that refuse to go away. Unfortunately, no matter how strict your diet or how much you exercise, the back is one of the hardest areas of the body to lose fat and create tone.  Excess fat in this area can make your clothes fit uncomfortably, making you seem bigger than you actually are, and even when you’re fit and healthy, this added fat can have a profound effect on your self-esteem and body image.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic, our ideal client is very close to their natural body weight, maybe carrying an extra couple of kilos, but isn't obese. When fatty deposits are just found in localised areas of the body; such as tummy, back, love handles or thighs, then the vaser results are much more defined and noticeable.

During your vaser lipo procedure, Dr Bassi will numb the treatment area with local anaesthetic. He will make tiny incisions, usually in the skin's natural creases so they'll be unnoticeable after the procedure. Small vaser probes get inserted, which will direct ultrasound energy into the fat cells, then we emulsify the fat cells which are then easily removed with a suction cannula.

Vaser has the potential to dramatically enhance the body’s shape. If you get into a healthy diet and an exercise routine before vaser lipo treatment, it will help you maintain your results after the procedure. The best candidates for the vaser lipo are those who are in good health and at a healthy starting weight.

How Our Lifestyle Can Affect Our Skin - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Our lifestyles are becoming more hectic and modern technology is taking over our lives. All this eventually takes it toll - on our skin!

Stressful schedules
A busy social life, and trying to go to every social invitation we're invited to, can leave us tired and increase our stress levels. Tiredness and stress can cause wrinkles and dull skin, and it can lower your immune system, which can result in acne breakouts.

Binge-watching
It seems that these days, there are many fantastic films and TV shows that we just have to watch. In these days of box sets and netflix, no-one wants to wait for next weeks episode, and we tend to binge-watch them in one sitting. Unfortunately, this can cause tiredness, dehydrated, dull looking skin, dark circles and wrinkles under the eyes.

Late nights
Failing to get a good nights sleep can cause havoc with our skin. Whether it's because of partying with your friends, working or watching movies late into the night, we are quite literally losing our beauty sleep. One of the side-effects of drinking excess alcohol, is its capacity to dry out the skin. The later we fall into our beds, the more likely we won't bother to remove our make-up and this can end up clogging your pores and causing spots. Lack of sleep will dehydrate your skin making it seem dull, and cause puffiness and dark shadows under the eyes.

Technology
It's scary to think that our mobile phone and gadgets might be ruining our looks. Our obsession with our phones and i-pads is really taking its toll on our neck and jaw line. The skin on the neck is thin and fragile, and because it's a highly visible part of the body, this area can really show how fast we are ageing. When you're constantly staring down at your phone; at social media, you tube and game apps, it causes sagging jowls and wrinkles on the neck, accelerating the signs of ageing.

Out and about
When we are outside we come into contact with; car fumes, smog and dust, and over time they all have a harmful effect on our skin. They are all impossible things for us to avoid, and can cause dehydration, wrinkles and redness. It's now believed that pollution is just as damaging to our skin as UV exposure. It's important to cleanse, tone and moisterize the skin, to rid it of daily dirt and grime.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we have many treatments to help with the latest safe and effective cosmetic medical treatments for fine lines and wrinkle reduction, dull, dehydrated skin, dark shadows and tear troughs. Our experienced and fully trained aesthetic team will talk you through a range of treatments, either single treatments or combining different treatments.

Correct Your Bumpy Uneven Nose with Dermal Fillers - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Your nose is the central feature of your face and its size and shape can have a big effect on your overall appearance. If your nose isn't in proportion, or is hooked or crooked, it can really affect your self-confidence. Until quite recently, if you wanted your bumpy nose straightened, then surgical rhinoplasty was your only option. However, this is an extremely invasive procedure, involving a lengthy, painful recovery time.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a procedure using dermal fillers to alter, or reshape the nose by filling in depressions, smoothing out bumps and improving the symmetry of the nose. The non-surgical nose job uses an injection of dermal filler instead of a scalpel. The nose is injected with a fine needle to soften, shape and straighten the nose, without resorting to invasive surgery. Many people are unaware that most bumps on the nose can easily be treated by adding dermal filler to the nose, and reshaping it, by slightly filling indentations and smoothing out any bumps and irregularities.

Reasons for considering non-surgical nose job might include:
  • Providing a rounder appearance to flat nasal bridges and creating a subtle increase in height
  • Giving the tip of the nose a lift
  • Improving a slightly crooked or off-centre nose
  • Creating a more balanced appearance for crooked or hooked noses
  • Balancing the size of the nose in comparison with other facial features
  • Smoothing humps or bumps
  • Refining an asymmetrical nose
  • Achieving an improvement in other minor concerns with the nose
  • Correcting a mild drooping of the nasal tip.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic, after a consultation with Dr Bassi, a numbing cream gets applied and the Radiesse dermal filler is then expertly injected into the appropriate nasal areas. The Radiesse filler doesn't migrate or lump together in the tissues and when it breaks down, 8 to 10 months later, it does so symmetrically and evenly. The fillers used in non-surgical rhinoplasty are temporary and will be broken down by the body naturally over time.

It's a quick and simple procedure and you can return to work the next day. There's no surgery, no hospital stay, no time off work and no long recovery period. The results of non-surgical nose jobs are less dramatic compared to surgical rhinoplasty and won't improve nostril retraction or nasal obstruction and it can't make large noses smaller.

For great results, always make sure to find a cosmetic physician with a high level of expertise, advanced knowledge in nasal anatomy and experience in non-surgical rhinoplasty.

Botox & Anti-Ageing Treatments for Younger Looking Skin - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

There are many things that cause our skin to age, some things are inevitable, others we can influence, but we can't change the natural ageing process. It's natural for our face to lose some of its fullness and with time we will all get visible lines on our face. Ageing happens not just because of genetics, but also because of our environment and lifestyle choices.

Botox Treatment
  • The sun plays a big role in prematurely ageing our skin, so it's essential that you apply sunscreen every day to all parts of the skin that's not covered by clothing, using a sun cream SPF 30, or higher.
  • Rather than lying in the sun to get a tan, apply self-tanner. Sunbathing and tanning beds all give off harmful UV rays that can prematurely age your skin.
  • Smoking causes wrinkles and a dull complexion and speeds up how quickly our skin ages.
  • Repetitive facial expressions contract the underlying muscles, and repeatedly contracting the same muscles over many years, cause these lines to become permanent.
  • A healthy, well-balanced diet, with fresh fruit and vegetables and lean meat may help prevent damage that leads to prematurely ageing skin. Ageing can accelerate, when a diet includes lots of sugar or other refined carbohydrates.
  • Alcohol dehydrates the skin, which in time will damage it and end up making us look older.
  • Gently cleanse your skin as scrubbing can irritate and this can accelerate skin ageing and always apply a facial moisturizer.
Selston Cosmetic Clinic provides the latest leading, safe and effective cosmetic medical treatments for anti-ageing of the skin. Our experienced and fully trained aesthetic team will recommend a range of treatments and tailor your treatment plan specifically for you - from solo treatments or combining different treatments.

Botox
Wrinkles are the most noticeable signs of the skin ageing and appear on different areas of the face. Very fine lines are the first to appear, becoming noticeable at the outer corners of the eyes and are known as laughter lines. They can also be found on the cheeks and the forehead and also become deeper as we get older.

Dermal fillers
The lips - lip enhancement will give your lips better definition and reduce lipstick bleed. Lip augmentation will give greater volume and a fuller appearance.
Tear trough treatment gives a natural filled out appearance under the lower eyelids, correcting the hollowed-eye look.
Lip Creases - we can soften the depth of smokers lines, giving a youthful appearance of the mouth area.
Nasolabial Folds - correction or softening of the deep grooves between the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth, gives dramatic results.
Cheek Enhancement - high cheekbones can easily be achieved by the precise placing of fillers.
Jowls Correction - the precise placing of fillers can give you the result of a smooth jaw line.

Chemical Peel Treatment
Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, dermaroller and skin tightening treatments will all help with exfoliation, a clearer complexion, smoother skin texture, reducing scars and promoting the growth of new skin and collagen.

Botox Hyperhydrosis Treatment for Excessive Sweating - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Women's armpits really do go through a lot in their life time. Whether we use depilatory creams for hair removal, subject them to shaving and waxing rashes or have laser treatment to rid them of our armpit hair, they really do suffer to live up to our standards. However, there is an armpit condition that is a bit more troublesome.

Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, is a condition that can affect both women and men and it's caused by hyperactive sweat glands. Excessive sweating happens in areas where there's a high concentration of sweat glands, such as the hands, feet, armpits and the groin area. This condition can cause extreme embarrassment, and seriously affect our self-confidence. It can cause great emotional and psychological upset, when severe sweating interferes with daily activities, especially when the excessive sweating is from the armpits.

Excessive sweating can cause lots of inconveniences:
  • It limits what type of fabrics you can comfortably wear
  • Washing and dry-cleaning bills will probably soar
  • The embarrassment and frustration it causes when we're in public and with groups of friends
  • When meeting new partners, the main concern is that you'll glisten and glow, not making a great first impression
  • The chances are, that you will have to change your clothing more often.
Most people try self-treatment first; there's a range of antiperspirants you can buy and talcum powder, which can help to absorb the sweat. If these have not helped, Botox hyperhidrosis treatment is an excellent alternative, with outstanding results to stop excessive sweating.

Tips to Prevent Excessive Sweating :
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Don't take hot baths
  • Shave the armpits and groin areas to prevent excessive sweating
  • Lessen your caffeine intake
  • Avoid using any harsh deodorants or soaps
  • Try to avoid hot drinks
  • Avoid smoking, drugs and alcohol
  • Cut out sugary, spicy and chemically processed foodstuff from your diet
  • Wear loose-fitting clothes
  • Wear clothes with natural fibres, like cotton. Avoid synthetic fabrics, like nylon and polyester

Excessive sweating can easily be treated effectively with Botox injections. Selston Cosmetic Clinic provides the latest, safe, effective cosmetic medical treatment for excessive sweating. After making the area numb beforehand to minimise any discomfort, we inject botox in very small quantities in the armpit region. We use very fine needles to inject the botox making the procedure almost painless.

The botox treatment usually takes about 20-30 minutes and you can return to work immediately after the procedure. In most cases the treatment takes effect within a matter of days and can last up to 9-12 months. The procedure can safely be repeated as often as necessary.

Erase Fine Lines & Wrinkles with Botox - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

Ageing affects every area of the body, but of all the changes that occur, the changes in our face are the most obvious. Wrinkles and fine lines are the most common signs of ageing and they are formed through smiling, squinting, smoking, and any other repeated facial movement.

Wrinkles also develop because of damage to the skin, with the most damage coming from exposure to sunlight. Minimal, or no protection from the sun will cause the skin to become vulnerable to ultraviolet radiation. People who use sun cream regularly, are 24% less likely to show increased signs of ageing.

Wrinkle facts:
  • Staying hydrated helps to keep the skin soft and supple. Dry skin leaves the skin looking flat and dull and the dryness will accentuate the wrinkles.
  • You can get new wrinkles even when driving your car! The sun's UVA rays can penetrate through your car windows and cause wrinkling. Always wear sun cream.
  • Heredity plays a role in how we age. The likelihood of us getting wrinkles and the timing at which we start to develop them, is influenced by genetics.
  • Repeated facial expressions often cause the first of your wrinkles to form. Smiling, frowning and talking will all, over time, add lines to your face.
  • Sleeping on the same side every night, repeatedly presses and squashes the face to the pillow. The problem is that the sleep lines won't spring back as quickly, the older we get.
Even if you have great genes and look younger than you are, there's no way to avoid the ageing changes in your facial appearance. The changes that appear on our face, are reflections our happiness and life challenges, and we can either learn to love these changes, or decide to do something about them.

These days we are all familiar with botox treatment, used to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. At Selston Cosmetic Clinic all our botox treatments are performed by our cosmetic doctor, Dr Bassi, who is trained in basic and advanced botox techniques. At Selston, we specialise in giving a soft natural look to your face and each botox treatment is customised specifically for you.

Botox treatments can be combined with procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and dermal fillers, which can help to prevent new wrinkles and lines from forming on the face.

A Clearer Complexion Using Chemical Peels & Microdermabrasion - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We all wish for a flawless complexion, and we usually resort to wearing foundation to cover the true condition of our skin. Many of us have experienced some sort of skin problem, and whether it's a blemish, pigmentation, sunburn, hormonal changes or acne scarring, these changes in our skin can sometimes make us feel self-conscious and embarrassed.

Pigmentation is the colouring of a person’s skin. Healthy skin will appear normal in colour, but the colour may change because of illness or injury and become darker (hyperpigmentation) or lighter (hypopigmentation)

Chemical Peel Treatment
Liver spots, mottled brown patches and large freckles on the face, chest and hands affects millions of women. Liver spots occur because of damage caused by the sun's ultraviolet radiation and the best way to prevent this happening is by using a high factor sun cream on exposed skin from an early age. In some women, higher levels of hormones during pregnancy can cause a darkening of the skin across the upper lip, nose, cheeks and forehead, and it can also happen as a consequence of taking the contraceptive pill.
  1. Sun damage contributes to uneven skin texture, and exposure will cause the breakdown of collagen and elastin and it's these which give the skin its smooth texture and resiliency.
  2. Smoking also causes collagen and elastin damage, contributing to rough, prematurely aged skin.
  3. Ageing causes of irregular skin texture because the cells on the skin's surface don’t shed as quickly.
  4. Dead skin cells build up, leaving rough skin and a dull appearance.
  5. Dull, tired skin occurs when your skin isn’t receiving enough oxygen and blood, making it look dull and weary.
Chemical peels offer a deep exfoliation, stimulating production of new collagen.
These unique non-invasive skin peels can give dramatic results for:
  • Dull lifeless skin
  • Ageing skin, sun damaged skin
  • Irregular pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Active acne
Microdermabrasion Treatment
Microdermabrasion treats an uneven skin tone. Treatment promotes growth of new skin and collagen, which thickens the dermis and improves resistance to the effect of ageing. It's popularly used for the face, neck, chest and hands.
Microdermabrasion improves:
  • Blotchy, uneven skin tones
  • Dull lifeless skin
  • Enlarged pores/blemishes
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damaged skin/age spots
  • Acne scarring
  • Blackheads and white heads

Spider Veins - Laser Away Unsightly Leg Veins - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

When the summer arrives, as long as we get sunny weather of course, it's the time most of us want to wear shorts, skirts and bathing suits. But for those with spider or thread veins, wearing skimpy, summer clothes is not an option. Women of every age can get unattractive leg veins, they are all too common and can cause a great deal of embarrassment for many. Until recent years, the only option was to cover them with trousers or tights.

Thread veins tend to develop as we age, with our skin and blood vessels becoming less elastic. They can also be associated with:
  • Pregnancy and menopause
  • Family predisposition
  • Sunbathing
  • Exposure to wind or extreme temperatures
Spider veins treated with laser energy. Before & after.
Spider veins are very common, they appear on the skin in a reddish, purple and blue zigzag pattern. Thread veins are often a sign of getting older, and as the body ages, the valves in your veins weaken, and blood can collect, causing your veins to enlarge and become more visible. These veins can appear all over the body, but they are most commonly seen on the legs, face, ankles, feet and thighs. Spider veins are like varicose veins but smaller and they're also nearer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins.

Poor blood flow and circulation cause spider veins, so you can help prevent spider veins by:
  • Try to avoid crossing your legs for long periods when sitting, as this can cause weakening of the vein walls.
  • Avoiding sitting or standing for long periods as this might aggravate the condition.
  • Limit the time you wear high-heeled shoes, as heels put extra pressure on your legs, which restricts the blood flow from the heart to the legs.
  • Support tights help to stimulate your blood vessels and improve your circulation.
  • It's important to use sun cream to protect the skin on your face, but it can also help prevent spider veins from appearing on your legs, calves and ankles.
Selston Cosmetic Clinic provides the latest cutting-edge, safe and effective cosmetic medical treatments for leg and facial veins. We apply light energy from a laser on a vein, making the vein disappear. Laser energy gets expunged via the skin into the vein, the wall breaks down and closes and the sealed vein is then dissolved and absorbed by the body.

Why put up with unsightly thread veins when there is such a simple solution to permanently banish those tell-tale signs of ageing.
