It's very easy to grow up with an unrealistic sense of what we think the perfect body should look like. In our childhood, we are given toys like Barbie and action figure dolls to play with, and in our teenage years most of the people we see in music videos, on reality television shows and in movies, all seem to have perfect faces and bodies. Today's society tries to dictate what kind of body image we should strive for, showing images of perfect bodies on television, in films and in newspaper and magazines.
The body shape that is now classed as 'the body to strive for', hasn't always been what's considered as the ideal body shape. We've seen body shapes change, ranging from a large bust and a wasp-waist, the flat chested boyish figure, the hour-glass tiny waist and exaggerated hips, lean and athletic or curvy with bigger breasts; the idea of the ideal body shape has changed many times over the years. Today, we are back with the curvaceous shape with a shapely bottom, substantial bust and a flat toned tummy.
We all have different builds, body shapes and sizes, making it impossible for us all to look the same and whatever the current body shape trend might be, there will only be a certain amount of people who will match up to it.
- Pear - those with a pear shape have small upper bodies and bigger lower bodies. The hips are a bit wider than the shoulders and weight tends to settle below the waist.
- Hourglass - This shape has a well-proportioned upper and lower body, with a narrow waist. Hourglass women are more inclined to gain weight all over the body and in particular the chest and hips area.
- Apple - Women with apple shapes have slim hips, a large chest and stomach and they are bigger on the top half of their bodies than the lower half.
- Straight/ Ruler - Ruler shaped women have no significant differences between the size of their hips, waist and shoulders. Any weight gain is on their stomach and bottom.
Even though we keep the fundamental shape we were born with, a healthy diet and regular exercise are still the key points to losing any excess body fat and maintaining good health. If any fat remains after this you could consider having vaser lipo treatment, which will take away stubborn pockets of fat that you just can't get rid of. You mightn't have the shape that you would like, but vaser lipo could help you shape and contour your body into a shape that you will love.
