When we think of filling in the lines on our face, the obvious answer is to have Botox. And whilst this is an excellent treatment for smoothing lines and wrinkles, it's fair to say, not everybody is comfortable with the idea of having Botox injected into their face, as they have visions of a frozen face that's unable to express any emotions (with a fully trained cosmetic practitioner this will not happen)
The best alternative to Botox is dermal fillers which are a great treatment for smoothing lines and wrinkles without paralysing your face into an expressionless mask. Dermal fillers can be used to fill out the face, to replace fat, and plump out areas that have lost volume and are beginning to look somewhat gaunt. They can also be used to fill in acne scars, change the shape of the chin or the tip of the nose.
Over time as we age, our skin loses hydration and this results in the loss of elasticity, forming lines and wrinkles and this gets more noticeable when we reach middle age. Dermal fillers can effectively treat areas, such as the eyes, neck and the back of the hands, which can, with age, develop finer lines and thinner crepey skin.
Depending on the areas being treated, the procedure normally takes 20-40 minutes and you can resume normal activities the same day. The procedure might feel uncomfortable, so we can apply a topical anaesthetic before the procedure. Usually, clients only need one dermal filler treatment to achieve their desired results, which last between 8-12 months, although some people choose to have occasional top-ups to keep up the look. While there might be a little swelling or redness, but this can easily be covered up by make-up.
At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we have many satisfied clients who regularly return to us for dermal fillers as they give instant dramatic results. Dermal filler results are immediate - so you don't have to wait for weeks to see how the procedure has turned out. There might be slight bleeding where the needle enters the skin, or slight swelling or redness in the treated area, although this will go down very quickly.
