Refresh Your Skin With Treatments at Selston Cosmetic Clinic - Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield & Chesterfield

We can't stop our face from getting older, but it's hard when you can see the noticeable signs of ageing such as fine wrinkles around the eyes or lips, or maybe pigmentation spots when we look at ourselves in the mirror. Sometimes though, there are ordinary things apart from ageing, which over time can take a toll on the skin and add years to our face.

Acne marks and scarring ruin the texture of the skin and leave it looking uneven, so try hard not to pick at your spots. Given the amount of germs and bacteria that's hidden on the hands and under your nails, it's just not sanitary to touch and pick at your spots, it can cause breakouts and make existing spots even worse. Picking at your spots, ingrown hairs, blackheads or anything else on your face can have permanent effects and even leave scars.

Cleanse - Gently wash your face morning and night, avoiding cleansers with a high alcohol content and drying agents.
Exfoliate -  The complexion becomes dull and uneven as dead cells accumulate, so make sure you exfoliate your skin weekly. Using a gentle facial scrub which will help to keep the skin smooth, healthy and fresh.
Moisturise -  Apply moisturiser over your face twice a day, not forgetting to treat the neck and the back of your hands. Dry skin loses its elasticity and this is when wrinkles begin to form.

Exposure to the sun is the number one reason for skin ageing, so always wear sun screen. Over time too much excess sun damages the skin, causing wrinkles, loss of elasticity, visible blood vessels, hyper-pigmentation and even skin cancer. Even if you aren't sunbathing you should still protect your skin by wearing sun cream every day.

Not doing so can result in:
  • Losing elasticity in the skin
  • Translucent, thinner looking skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Dry, rough skin
  • Liver spots on the face, back of hands, arms and body
  • Broken veins and capillaries
  • Skin cancer

It's said that a third of women go to bed, at least twice a week, without removing their make-up. Stale make-up can clog up the pores making them look larger, resulting in a decline in the collagen and making the skin less supple. Leaving make-up on through the night can result in an overgrowth of bacteria on your face, it can cause acne and give the skin a dull, unhealthy look.

At Selston Cosmetic Clinic we can soften the effects ageing with non-surgical cosmetic procedures. There are many cosmetic procedures for the face, such as botox, to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, lip augmentation and fillers to plump up your lips, laser treatment to remove blemishes, moles and thread veins and chemical peels and microdermabrasion to smooth the surface of your skin.
