The UK is officially in the midst of a heat wave, and the usual summer disappointments of rained-off picnics, family BBQ's and music festivals have disappeared. Britain is the hottest place in Europe, with temperatures approaching a record of 38.5C, which would be great - if it didn't cause so much sweating!
We all get sweaty sometimes and although it's annoying, it's a natural way for the body to cool itself down when it becomes overheated. Some of us sweat a lot more than others and this can make the hot weather a bit of nightmare. However, if you have excessive sweating all the time, it might show that you have a medical condition. Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a troublesome and embarrassing problem for those affected and botox injections are highly effective in reducing sweat production in treated areas.
Everyone sweats when it’s hot outside, because when the temperature rises, the body reacts by increasing the blood flow to the skin's surface, taking the heat from within the body to the surface, and this causes us to sweat. As the sweat evaporates, the body cools down, but those who have hyperhidrosis will experience excessive sweating, whether it's hot or not, where moisture might literally drip from the hand.
Excessive sweating on the face is embarrassing because it's so noticeable. A quick fix to stop facial sweating is to put cold water on a paper towel or flannel and dab the face and then wipe it dry. This should temporarily cool down the body temperature down to stop the facial sweating. The hot weather affects the skin's moisture, causing us to sweat which dries out the skin, and the increased use of air conditioning or fans indoors can also contribute to dried out and dull skin.
